Your questions are very good , well thought of. I stayed for more than 10 years, lived in Washington DC as well as Silicon City, took decision to come back to India by simply asking one question, if the money is not the criteria what would you do? stay back in US or go back to India. I got my answer and came back, it was that simple for me. It's been 4.5 years I came back, never regretted about my decision, never thought of going back. This is my janm bhoomi and this will be my karm bhoomi too. I just saw the news today that one guy from Andhra Pradesh was died in an accident and his friends ran fundrasing campaign and send his corpse back to home. And this happened many times too, why do we need to ask for donation in this situation?
Don't you feel bad about this? I feel that if we have a choice to come back then we should, leave the opportunity to other new comers , early career stage people. What do you think?

everybody's life and situations are different. You just can't generalize and judge people for their decision. Yes, H1B-Marriage-Home-GC-Citizenship is a trap, many people once get in cannot get out for various reasons. Good for you, you took a decision and stuck by it, not many are that fortunate. Doesn't matter where you live, if you are not happy about it and worse you have no control over situations, life sucks!

I came to the US in 2002 and then got an opportunity in 2012 exactly 10 years to return to India.. it coincided well with the Trump / Modi times and spent 10 years in India and then in 2022 got another opportunity to come back to the US... 2023 and I am in NC now and I think that life in India has a lot more benefits today, when compared to 2002..
US in 2002 vs US in 2023 - Not much has changed...
India in 2002 vs 2023 - Huge difference....
    1-21 years in India
21-31 in US - Pros.. Growth and Money and success / career
31-41 in India... Growth and Money and success / career + Family / Friends / Food
41-43 in US.... Children are US citizens to this might be a good option for them in terms of building career...
45+/.. Definitely will move to India.... as I feel elder life is much better there vs here (Plus I get to take care of ageing parents)
I feel that my older life is much better in India.. Looking forward to spend my life there and find better purpose !
P.S: From our kids perspective.. quiet funny that they have all of their know-how from India and been here for nearly 6 months and they still are very proud of being Indian and the perception remains that they have much more knowledge than an ABOVE AVERAGE american kid.

    • @gayatrisrinivas6342
      @gayatrisrinivas6342 Рік тому +2

Hope the perception remains. I know A LOT of US born Indian kids who spent 10+ years in India, and came back for high school / undergrad. And they ALL have this attitude of being smarter than top kids here in US. That perception SOON goes away once they get to 11th, 12th and on to college. There are couple different types of intelligence. For eg., emotional intelligence, intelligence to think outside the box (not bookish knowledge, follow rules by the book), creative intelligence, etc.
The biggest mistake people make in gauging intelligence is using bookish knowledge for testing themselves and others, testing facts like what /where is Iran, Iraq , spelling of something, speed in solving arithmetic questions, etc., which becomes irrelevant as you get older and get into jobs. Those are knowledge ( which is now available at your fingertips) not intelligence. I have know way too many kids coming from India, become isolated, with few friends, as they get older. Perhaps this sense of superiority initially has something to do with it.

@@mitulzaveri1981 It depends on at what age kids moved from US to India , how many years they stayed in India, and at what age/ grade they came back. I am talking about kids who left US when they were in elementary and came back to US when they are in high school. Lot of growing happens during middle school years. At this age, they form perceptions about themselves, start to have an identity in relation to their peers, etc. Those perceptions become wrong when they come to
US. Very few kids who come back to US in 10,11, 12 grades are able to gel well with their classmates. It of course depends on kids personality as well. You are talking about ur kids playing wiffle ball. So, they are still young.

Every situation needs different handling. Overall population in general are very individualistic here. Generic rules do not apply to people in USA. Hollywood and Bollywood movies are made for entertainment in order to earn money. They are not meant to be real. If one is relocating from living in India the only thing that is different is self-reliance. In India everything gets done for an average person. Here in USA average person does everything himself/herself.

Jab tak life straight forward chal Rahi hai tab tak tho india ho ya usa Farak nahi padta. India me system se ladna is so frustrating . I lost my husband 5 years back still I am struggling to get death settlement from various banks . Dust is the single most deterrent factor . It also depends which city u r relocating to. Life in metro or tier 1 cities is horrible in India . You have to fight corruption , inefficient staff , diverse language challenges on a daily basis . Let us accept the fact that 80 % of the time ( outside your job or neighbourhood) you are interacting with lower middle class Indians . They are indisciplined , lack of commitment , untrustworthy and dishonest . Life in India cannot be judged only on the basis of digitalisation. Especially for senior citizens there is no comfort . We have to remain home bound all the time . There is no facili for people with disabilities . The list can go on.

'feel pride that your children don’t know Indian culture.' For that you don't need to go to the US. Right in INdia itself most people are super happy to imitate the west. I have been living in the US for more than 2 decades. Fantastic life. Live 15 minutes from one of the best beaches of the world. ZERO pollution. ZERO slums. Great weather right through the year.
I am a multi-millionaire who came with nothing in the pocket, loans taken to complete my studies [Two Masters degrees]. Not ONCE have I ever encountered corruption in the US. NOT ONCE. The police officers address us with utmost respect using 'Madam' / 'Sir' etc. Don't blindly believe everythign you read in the INdian media - Life in the US is fantastic.
I have seen videos of a lot of people who return from teh US posting how life in USA is bad and how life in india is wonderful. There is only one issue with that - Most everyone putting those videos are pepople who could NOT get green card in the US.
99% of those who get greencard/US citizenship, do NOT go back to INdia. I know of people with Green Card who went back ['we want our kids to not forget INdian culture']. Most of them came back. Exceptions are those who have aged and aging parent and/or properties that parents can no longer manage by themselves.
Also remember, India is the second largest population on the planet, largest population by some estimates. Indias culture will not vanish because Indians want to go abroad. India is not Sri Lanka or Bhutan, with small population.
It may make you feel better about yourself by writing stuff like: ‘Dhobi ka kutta na ghar kana ghaat ka’ is the story of INdians living in the US. Good for you if it makes you feel better about your own life. AFter all we all have a right to feel nice about ourselves. If writing negative stuff about Indians living in the US makes you feel happier, go for it.

Nice Video. But I personally feel Texas, that too specially Dallas is a different world in itself. It has a huge Indian population so one will definitely not face any racism. I think you should talk to people who live on the east coast or Midwest. You will hear a lot of stories about gun voilence, racism, missing India stories. Harsh weather conditions and about many other cons. Just last week i heard a story of kid being bullied for getting Indian food at school for its smell. That’s why Indians here try to move to communities, schools or states where there’s more Indian population just to feel safe. There are sweet people too I don’t deny. Life here is easy. But so is in India when it comes to house help and convenience. I visited india last month and my god it has changed tremendously for good. The QR code and UPI made me feel I’m an uneducated. Was really happy to see the progress. It’s been 5years now in the US and even now it’s hard to see our future here. And don’t make me start on family values, cultural aspects etc.

It's their choice their comfort their decision...to stay wherever they want to live.. like some comes to India for study and stays in India doesn't mean they don't want to go to their country but they are bount to fulfill their responsibility and after having kids it becomes difficult for parents to adjust their children in different environment... Really appreciate this video... And one more thing staying far doesn't mean that you don't love your parents... Coz this happens in India too like delhi person need to shift Bangalore for job and that too without parents and even after staying in India they don't meet their parents in one to two years... Stumbled upon this and several other similar videos. The most compelling reason of all the USD 1 = Rs 83ish. Imagine if it drops down to USD 1 = RS 20 - 25 today, most of the H1B Janta will fly away🤣. Other citizens and PR holders will start cursing them after a while but because they are heavily invested (not just monetarily) they may not move back . Same is true with Canada and Aus etc. The exchange rate gives the base to why people go to US/Can/Aus and they get stuck their because of one or other reason. Local US people are very good that is the reason why more Indian stick around and get stuck but you or your kids (ABCD) they keep dealing with "we are different" sense for no of years if not for ever, same you feel when north Indian go to South India or other way.
I am sure as India is progressing less and less folks face this issue as they may choose to stay in India vs all of them wanted to come to west during 90's (it has reduced to some extent.). Host has been going every six months to India shows that how he was attached with India.

@@rk-co7zn how many young Indians are actually earning a decent pay for the job / skills / work they do? Miniscule minority. Our so called amazing gdp growth is fuelled by massive debt. In the long run, we ll see increase in toll taxes and other fees because all the debt driven infra that was supposed to create millions of jobs hasnt been a success. So in reality, actual wage rise / hike even if given will wither away due to rising inflation. Net earnings are declining. With the rapid advances in AI, Indian IT industry (the ONLY major forex earner export item) will start to decline. We have never given any imp to msme / sme sector. Neither have we promoted agricultural sector the way we sae Green revolution in 80s and 90s. I see India as a 5 Tr dollar economy on paper which hardly has any per capita incomes that can provide US / EU or Chinese living stds

Please give your response. Thank you.

I think it’s because of caste related challenges in India . The cut off for OC is unbelievably high to get into professional degrees . How long the OC is going to get oppressed based on caste ? People don’t come back from USA as their children are given equal opportunities according to their potential . May be that’s why they don’t come back here .

Talking about racism, India come #1 in the world on the basis of isms like....Caste, class, religion, language, status, Rich, poor, North, South....etc. I did not have anything in India, but America gave me a Lot for me and my family, for which I am thankful. If I did not say it, I would be lying.. I am blessed 100%.

India is a diverse country so there are differences in the way people live in society. Usa is what predominantly white with little to no diversity, the moment the start getting little diverse all those problems are visible in USA . Like Trump making a wall on Mexican border to stop immigration. In Islamophobia USA rank is 2.And i shouldn't even be comparing but cast system was any day better than system of slavery in the west. The cast system got illegal in India with special privileges known as passive or positive discrimination i.e the reservation system for education and employment are being given for people who have faced discrimination in the past. That's why the pew research survey shows the wealth gap between people of different caste has decreased in India rapidly while the wealth gap between white and people of colour has increased in the same time in USA. So India did owned up its evil of discrimination and started paying retribution since 1950 while USA is still debating with no willingness to pay retribution for its participantion in slavery or racial discrimination. And we all know the views of Churchill and Nixon about people of colour. By the way just one question why USA closest ally is just Canada and not Mexico. And 2nd question is USA or any western country is planning on paying retribution of any kind in the future. Or are they just goona be the white saviors of the world.

    Cons of living abroad:
    - The killer Instinct, the competitiveness that you got while facing daily challenges in India is not there, slowly, one become soft and chui mui.
    - Food, family celebrations, festivals.. ln India, every week some festivals or celebrations is happening. Foreign is boring.
    - sense of insecurity is there.. doesn't matter how much you enjoy, live an easy life... But the sense of belongingness is not there.

If you like to live a life in set channels then US is great. But if your life is out of normal or you like to live out of normal or your civilization question comes to your mind then US is difficult. Cultural wars in US will make life very difficult for Indians as their kids will get embroiled in it. We are very resistant to issues like corruption racism etc. Once GC backlog issue is resolved Indians can setup own civilization ecosystem. I do my part by approaching university to teach Hindi.
