Just watched your video and it brings back a lot of memories. I marched at Angela Taylor's funeral, and I went through the academy and graduated with Steve, lovely guy. Incidentally, his squad leader was Des Campbell who was convicted of murder for pushing his wife off a cliff in 2005.
@@tombeck1872 It's widely known that the firearm was planted on Jensen after he was shot dead. The reason given for those present not speaking up about this is because both criminals and Police feared the Armed Robbery Squad, who were well known executioners. (One example is the killing of Gary Abdallah just before this. He is on camera telling his lawyer that he'd heard he was gonna "get knocked" by them.)
I have heard of the Walsh street murder but was never able to piece together what exactly had happened! What perhaps was the ultimate disappointment was to see the grave of Steven Tynan almost forgotten... Thanks for doing this video!
A guy my friend was getting some weed off him, but he said oh im going to see my girlfriend who lived in Walsh Street he said her dad was a cop omfg 😳😳he would get the weed the next day then we seen the news the next day ... omg, we freaked out. 😳
Two officers present at the killing said years later it was planted. Reason given for not speaking up at the time is because they were scared shitless of the Armed Robbery Squad.
Great vid Paul! Did you know there was also a TV mini series released in 2010 called “Killing Time” that focused on the lawyer of the Walsh St killers Andrew Fletcher. David Wenham played the main role with some other big names like Colin Friels and John Wood also in it. Definitely worth checking out if you can find it.
Quick question, does the Victorian police force have the lowest conviction rate of its own members for corruption for perverting the course of justice.
I'd assume that if Victor was convicted for the murders of both officers, he would spend the rest of his life in gaol. So in some sense, him being acquitted of those crimes allowed him to be vulnerable during Melbourne's gangland wars. Ironically Victor himself was gunned down while in car.
What if Jenson and Pierce did not do violent armed hold ups and murders?? Every action has a reaction. If all the violent criminals didn't attack police in the 1980s, maybe on the occasion JENSEN died they may not have been so keen to shoot. The crook lived on the edge and fell off.
@@stephenfrancismoran6729 Jensen is not responsible for the actions of other criminals and the police have a clear set of justifications when it comes to to the use of lethal force to be applied to each individual situation. Precedence or keenness doesn’t come into it.
That's so sad for those young policemen. Caught up in a very corrupt timeline of Melbourne's history. Innocent... so very sad.❤❤ Perhaps you could say, yes there are crims... but worse, there were crooked cops who brought this upon these innocent police.

Firstly its not the Police Force, its Victoria Police and secondly its Victoria despite the 'attacks' you refer to happening in Melbourne as Melbourne is both a city and suburb. Be accurate if you want people to watch your videos as much better productions have been produced so make an effort.
I'm pretty sure Victoria Police is a police force. Also the suburbs that aren't called Melbourne, 9,993 km2 of the metropolitan area are all part of greater Melbourne. This seems a bit nit picky to me but I will take your advise to be more accurate.

whatabout the corupt police that shot that bloke buying a spark plug. shot a bloke with no gun . very poor.
Firstly he had a weapon but yes some shootings were not justified. Secondly unethical does not be corrupt. Know the difference.

Love your videos, another great exploration of the tangible aspects of Melbourne history
As if the coppers were goodie goodies back then probably the same today 😂
The corrupt detectives were and still are a bad lot! And Force Command gutless and / or just as corrupt! Nothing changes!
Amazingly the gun didn't have any fingerprints.

I wasn't aware of that series. I'll look out for it. I definitely like those actors. Thanks for watching 👍
Yeah I found my copy by chance at a Dixon’s store but I just checked and found a copy for sale online. I’ll send you the link.

Agree, it was a very good series.
That’s a great series, up there with the first season of Underbelly.

Yes, a law unto itself in particular amongst the corrupt in the CIU and the spineless and corrupt in Command!
