    Hi! I’m a huge follower of your UA-cam channel.
    You helped me a lot with your well explained lessons.
    I have a question: what if you’d talk about the most important open call of NYC, London, Berlin etc..? I think it could be super helpful for us artist understand how to take advantage of our specific time period where we can apply for those important occasion even if living in places where the art world is mostly hidden. It’s important to have an expert opinion like yours on this topic to avoid scams-like occasions, vanity gallery dressed as Open Calls and moreover what is better in general. Thank you so much

    Thank you for such a comprehensive introduction to the world of Art Residencies.
    Could you by any chance shed some light on the Chateau Orquevaux Residency that keeps popping up in my feed for a few years now?
    And also, do you think people working in the field of so called "Minor Arts", like textiles, ceramics, contemporary jewelry have any chance of getting into those main Art Residencies?

      The pleasure is all mine! I have never heard from the residency in question but if I have a look on their site I notice it costs €3.000 so I would say it is more like a vanity artist residency. Minor arts are difficult to get into high-end art residencies. The art world does not like it, unless it is being implemented in a fresh and original manner. Think of the tattooed pigs by Delvoy or Razvan Botis ceramics. Hope this might help!

    I understand the residency as a place to develop new ideas, with people to mentor you and help move your art forward. Would you advise to approach the applications with a well established body of work-a few exhibitions and fairs under your belt? Or is it conceivable to propose a new theme, and explore something you wouldn’t do in other circumstances (ie. installation art, if you come from painting)?

    • @contemporaryartissue
      @contemporaryartissue  7 місяців тому +2

      It depends on the residency, of course, but it is always best to have some finished experiments/renders/maquettes ready the strengthen your application. Wishing you all the best!

    Are there artists that use audio as their medium? I'm not talking music per-say but anything that gets exhibited at museums or galaries?

      I’ve only ever seen it accompanying something visual. For example, a museum in the south of France had an exhibition with perfume based on paintings, where you would sit in front of the painting and smell the accompanying perfume. Same with sounds

      Could you please specify where I mentioned this word? Most likely, I wanted to say "formula" and pronounced a bit oddly.
