I don't know how people have the time / patience to have so many! I have one journal where I record my reading, watching, travel, days out, gigs etc etc and I'm almost always on a catch up!
I have as many as I do because I find it easier to find things if they’re in themed journals 😂 that and I’d end up going through a journal a month otherwise 😝 I’m not always on top of all of them, but I also don’t have to use every single one every single day 👌
also dont forget that those that you see online are often by content creators. So they are somewhat professionals and have way more reasons to have multiple journals for showing us stuffs and giving ideas or doing reviews! My guess is that most of the people that dont post online have one or two journals at most!
I've been considering an R&D notebook. After 8 years of bullet journaling, there are so many times when I'm like, "Oh shoot, that one spread I did ages ago would work well for what I need here," and then I have to go hunt it down in my bujo archive stack. An R&D journal would make that obsolete. I would just have a copy of every spread I use or might be interested in trying in there as a reference.
I watched your 5 yr journal set up last year so officially I’m over ten months in!! I will admit I essentially copied what you did right down to the colour rainbow by month and the key in the cover but it’s been one of the most enjoyable journals I’ve used since I started with dotted notebooks in Dec 2020. I’m so happy I’ve kept up with it!!!
I haven't started journaling yet (ADHD makes it difficult), but I listen to your stuff while I work! I love the ideas you have and the banter between you and Mark 😂
I only just started bullet journalling this year and I love it. I already had a reading journal, a hobbies journal and a regular journal. I am going to be adding a goals journal in 2025, but I also like the idea of a R&D journal. The thing to work out now is what size to use for each one. Great video as always.
Haha yeah picking the right size is important! I've recently started moving into a B6 for my swatch book and I'm excited to have a more compact notebook for it 👌
This year I started a Makes journal. I’m a papercrafter and use it to track everything I make in a year, challenges that I like to do, ideas I’ve come across. I originally had photos of everything I’ve made but by June realised that was not going to work as I was already finishing a 2nd one. I’m still capturing everything with photos separately in 6x8 albums.
what kind of journal do you use for that? Do they get super bulky? I want to have a memory keeping journal with many photos, but I am worried that it will choncc up way too much. Do you think ringbinders like the one Jashiis granny used is better?
@@artblob photos do bulk it up and my first attempt showed the spine was going to fail. I used happy planner discs on loose leaf dot grid paper for the next attempt which has the bulk no problem but is two volumes for 6 months. If I was going to do rings / discs again and keep it at a normal page size A4/Letter that way you will get more into the book/binder.
OOO I just got a new travel size journal and couldn't decide what to do with it. This year would be IDEAL to start a 5 year journal to end on 2030, now to do the math to fit it in my travel size lol
I'm most of the way through making a 5 year journal, using your format. I've tweak it slightly, mainly doing the dates as 3 letter abbreviations and the date vertically instead of turning the notebook to write the date, and adding two dots for the year instead of putting the year next to the dot. I'm liking it so far. We'll see how consistent I can be in using it.
Sadly, I abandoned my bullet journal, but found myself with about half of a good journal I just couldn't bear to waste. I made it into a reading journal. I also created a 5-year bucket list following the reading journal pages. My other journals are each separate and ones I don't need to write in every day: a 5-year garden journal, a birding journal, gratitude journal, and I have plans to make a dream journal.
Its hard being a wizard somedays. I have a reading journal and a long term collections journal currently. I want to try using an actual bullet journal in 2025 I think. I have my Hobo Cousin that I absolutely love and my ECLP for my cute sticker planning, but I think an actual regular bullet journal might help me stay on top of things a little better. I love your idea videos like this. You keep coming up with more and more interesting ideas. Looking forward to the next one.
I have a pre-filled planner for work, an every day journal, and I finally started a yearly collections book this year, but next year I'm going to get a lot more serious about my reading journal. In the past, I always had such a difficult time committing to what I wanted, and I read enough that it becomes a whole chore to fill it in every month. So what I've started planning is a chart with my core stats from the past few years with space to keep going, and I'm using a square journal so I have bigger pages on which to combine the 2025 things I want (like readathons, which is a new thing for me this year), and then I'm giving myself permission to only journal about the books I have a lot to say about! I waste so much time and space on 3 star books that I wind up being too unmotivated to write about the actual 5 stars, lol. I'm trying to drill it into my head that I have Goodreads, so I don't need to write or draw stuff for every single book I encounter. Although you know what's funny, I've actually been more consistent this year than ever since getting a five year "Q&A a day" journal because I don't actually have to think about specific events, lol. I've used the blank ones in the past (and I am SO tempted to make one that perfectly matches my page preferences), but this one alternates between things like, "When did you go to bed last night?" and "What is your Halloween costume?" and "What is your biggest dream?" and "(Fill in the blank) is ridiculous", so it's become one of my daily delights!
Haha totally feel you on the book reviews thing! I'm planning on changing up how I do mine for next year so it's only the I-have-a-lot-to-say books that get reviews too 😝Awesome that your pre-printed 5 year journal is working well for you 🥳 I always found I'd get to a day where the prompt just didn't work so well (normally January 5th, haha) and then I'd fall off with it 😂 Enjoyed having my DIY one though! 💪
My line up for 2025: 5 years journal (A&O A5 white dot grid, second year), everyday journal/memory journal (this one is on an A5 ring bound with blackout pages, it's my source of creativity and my second brain: it contains lists, travel pages where I record my holiday memories, trackers, goals...), reading journal (new for this year, I'm thinking to set it up in one of the A&O B6 white dot grid journals from the summer release), swatch books (new for this year too, I will use A&O A6 white, black and craft journals). And that's it, I think. It would be great to also have a sketch journal for drawings and one for memorable quotes, but I don't think I realistically have enough time for all of these... maybe when I start working part-time... we'll see! :)
I'm a "true to the study" BuJo'er who still just follows Ryder's minimalist starting point even tho ive been BuJo'ing for years now. I've tried doing pretty things and more books at one time but it just doesn't stick (except the CommonPlace!). But man, these kinds of videos are a soothing thing to my soul. Your channel is one of my faves around
Awesome that the original method works well for you! 💜 Heck yeah for experimenting with multiple notebooks at once, even if you didn't really gel with it. That's how we figure out what works for us 💪 Glad to hear you enjoy the channel 😄
Aww such a cute family memory book - I think you have a strong resemblance to Ron. I have actually set up my 2025 journal, but I don't like the notebook (paper is too thin for my liking) so I'm gonna attempt to fill it in the first 2 months by doing a double page spread a day in Jan and being creative in Feb (wish me luck!) I also have a reading journal specifically for Harry Potter which I started back in about 2019 or something that I need to get back into. Deffo gotta have a junk journal, but I'm going to use a refillable book for that as I have a tonne of paper to use up. And I'm hoping to start a travel journal at some point in the new year as well. But I still haven't found a journal that I absolutely love yet, so that doesn't help much 💜 Phew! that's a lot x
Thank you lovely I just used your code for money off some beautiful Journals and dot markers on Tiefossi 😊 cant wait till they arrive now xx Thank you again ❤
Your previous videos encouraged me to grab a Tiefossi notebook for my main bullet journal/notebook/planner next year! If you want to get into memory planning - Amy Tangerine might be a UA-camr to watch? A lot of her journal content is focussed on documenting memories with existing supplies and ephemera :)
These are fantastic ideas! I like the idea of devoting a notebook to ideas, a notebook to swatches, goal setting journal, creativity, etc. In 2025 I will definitely start a reading journal so I can remember the books I read, not just reference the titles. And I will use the CAWPILE rating system. I plan to use a 3-year or 5-year diary to put in events and anniversaries. I've been writing them down in my journal, but I want to remember when things happened and if they're still going on (like the war in Ukraine). I'm debating whether to keep a commonplace book or just use index cards like a Zettelkasten method so I can organize them better when I'm looking for something. What do you think? BTW, I think your handwriting is always nice.
Cool idea about the 3- or 5-year diary; would make for a great reference of what was going on across that timeline! 👌 As for the commonplace book vs. Zettelkasten, I can certainly see benefits in either 🤔 But I thiiiink I like the organisation that comes with a Zettelkasten more. Very much want to make myself a digital version along the lines of a Notion second brain 👀 Thanks for the kind words about my handwriting, that's very nice of you! 💜
Wizzard team! :D For the longest time I thought bullet journal is enough but this year I find myself with bullet journal, reading journal, creativity journal, and I'm thinking about making workout/fitness journal (was inspired by Mark's video). Oh and I can't believe I never thought about a scribble book! I always have pieces of paper lying everywhere and that would definitely solve the problem. I want to go over all my past bullet journals (been doing it for 6 years already) and look through setups to figure out the best one for 2025. I've never done that and all my first pages in new bujo were all over the place. Hoping to make more effort this year :D
Haha. I actually read the diary entry because it started "Dear Diary, mood apathetic" and figured it would be a sort of humorous easter egg for the video. Nice touch. Not a wizard though :) Same experience with the 5 year journals. Never thought to bujo my own. 3 bullets per entry, I could do that (I think?). Lines are so intimidating, I'm going to try this! The rainbow order of months also makes it cheery and less, I dunno, gray industrial like the ones I've seen. I might also throw in some prompts of my own for certain times of year. It could be funny to see how I react to them 5x in a row.
Exciting! Also my multi year journal I believe is complete as well... though maybe I missed some entries that I still need to back fill... I'll have to check. I have all the data for it digitally, but I've been really good lately of putting it down in the journal as well. It gives such a nice/better overview across the years than my digital system.
Good idea having the digital record as well 👌 on days that I don’t get into my journal, I’ll often send myself a message on Messenger so I have the info to catch up later 😝

I think this is the year I will do it. 😊 And I will tweak my carry notebook to make it more organized... I've wanted to try a commonplace book and this might be the solution to all my erratic carry notes 😂 thanks for the ideas!
I need to make a 5 year journal!! That's a fantastic idea. And, I have a journal for all my memory keeping and diary entries for a whole month. And, they get to be thiick after I decorate and add photos.

Aww yis I'm a wizard! 😎 I'm very curious still about the five year journal. Been interested of it ever since you first set it up, but as it is now I don't think I have enough going on in my life to warrant getting a journal just for that. Maybe in the future though!
A lot of my daily entries are like “worked on a video, tidied my office, watched TV with Vogel” 😂 I’ve been trying to, on those days, focus on how I was feeling or what I was interested in as a little glimpse into past-Jess’s thoughts and feels 💜
Since making a separate health tracker didn't work and I was forced to put it into my everyday journal, I think I'm going to make it a swatch/RnD journal. That way, the book doesn't go to waste, and the randomness of it makes sense, lol.
re common place books, I like to figure out approximately how many pages I use a month in my daily journal and set aside some in the back to use as a 'commonplace' section. Of course it depends how much you use one, but it's a nice way to combine things, that I have liked in the past.
I have a space set up for it, because it will show up at least once (possibly twice depending which year you start) Last year I was travelling at that time, so I kind of ended up with an extra day around then from travelling to somewhere in a time zone that’s “earlier” than mine 😂 next year I’ll probably just leave it blank as there won’t be a Feb 29
My brain fully short circuited at the start of the video reading "dear diary, mood apathetic" xD Obviously it's not a phase, even if I had completely forgotten it existed until this moment🤣
Ohai Jashii and Jashii community! First of all, lovely video as always. Then I have got a question! I am on the lookout for protective covers for my Journal from Kuma. I have a clear protective cover that is intended for the Hobonichi, but it fits the Leuchtturm I had perfectly. Now the Kuma and Notebook Therapy Journals are a tad thicker and the covers dont fit them too well. Anyone got an idea how to make one myself or where to get one?
I think i want to get a 5-year journal in 2026 (it will document my first 5 years in my 30s!). Tempted to include a little book of creativity in my lineup tho… btw i’m a wizard 🪄😅
Being a wizard is not a phase!!!
Haha 😂 yessssss! 🤘
Omg you got me 😂💀 "Dear Diary, mood apathetic", still cracks me up
Haha 😂 glad you enjoyed it

Omg it's the first time that I see a 5 year journal and I find it's a super interesting yet high commitment idea!
I've really been enjoying mine! I made it intentionally simple so that I didn't get too overwhelmed with it 😄💜
I set up mine following Jess' video and I love it too! I highly recommend it :)
I've been considering an R&D notebook. the diary entry in the first planner is hilarious hahaha good one Jess!!

I have a space set up for it, because it will show up at least once (possibly twice depending which year you start)
Last year I was travelling at that time, so I kind of ended up with an extra day around then from travelling to somewhere in a time zone that’s “earlier” than mine 😂 next year I’ll probably just leave it blank as there won’t be a Feb 29
Great video! Can you tell me the brand of notebook you use for the "scribble" notebook (spiral bound), thanks.
That’s a soft-ring notebook from Kokuyo 😄💜 stationerypal.com/products/kokuyo-campus-soft-ring-kraft-paper-cover-notebook-a5-5-mm-grid?ref=2
love this!! i want that girl washi from 2:35, where is it from? thank you jess 💜
Sadly that's a sold out set from The Washi Tape Shop! Was called Fairies Nest 💜
My brain fully short circuited at the start of the video reading "dear diary, mood apathetic" xD Obviously it's not a phase, even if I had completely forgotten it existed until this moment🤣
It's not a phase! 😅 Love your vids
Haha 😂💜 Thanks!
Yeah! Made a live.
Hope you enjoyed 😄💜
Ohai Jashii and Jashii community! First of all, lovely video as always. Then I have got a question! I am on the lookout for protective covers for my Journal from Kuma. I have a clear protective cover that is intended for the Hobonichi, but it fits the Leuchtturm I had perfectly. Now the Kuma and Notebook Therapy Journals are a tad thicker and the covers dont fit them too well. Anyone got an idea how to make one myself or where to get one?
Great, now all I need is a "Journals to scrap from your 2025 lineup" video from you, I currectly have 10 diferent ones planned 😝
😂 sorryyyy 💜
We have a separate video about the pros and cons of multiple notebooks which might help?

I think i want to get a 5-year journal in 2026 (it will document my first 5 years in my 30s!). Tempted to include a little book of creativity in my lineup tho… btw i’m a wizard 🪄😅
Heck yeah, wizarddd 💪
Having the journal for your first 5 years of 30s would be a nice memory to look back on 😄
I'm a wizard - well, a witch!
Aww yiss 🥳
Wow...diary, that is some concert you missed!
My parents just don't get me 😂💜
That diary entry made me laugh lmao
Haha 😂 Glad you liked it!
Can‘t believe i‘ve been Common placing for years without knowing
Oh nice! 💪💜
I actually have a journal exclusively for the magical readathon 😂
Very fair though! I could totally have a journal just for that 😝
Apparently for me it was a phase, but I'm still a proud wizard
Aww yiss 🥳 wizard team! 💪
It's not a phase!
Heck yeah 😂
You playing Danganronpa was not on my 2024 bingo!
Haha 😂 yeah Vogel and I played it together at the start of the year 🤙
