PATRIOT follows the complicated life of intelligence officer John Tavner (Australian newcomer Michael Dorman, Wonderland). John’s latest assignment, to prevent Iran from going nuclear, requires him to forgo all safety nets and assume a perilous "non-official cover" -- that of a mid-level employee at a Midwestern industrial piping firm. A bout with PTSD, the Federal government’s incompetence, and the intricacies of keeping a day job in industrial piping cause a barrage of ever-escalating fiascos that jeopardize the mission.
The pilot also stars Terry O’Quinn (Lost) as John's State Department Director of Intelligence father Tom, Michael Chernus (Manhattan), as John's older brother Edward, a Texas congressman, Kathleen Munroe (Call Me Fitz), as John's wife Alice, Aliette Opheim (Sandor slash Ida) as Agathe, a brilliant young homicide detective from Luxembourg hot on John's trail, and Kurtwood Smith (That 70s Show) as Mr. Claret, John's stickler of a new "boss" at the piping firm. PATRIOT is written and directed by Steven Conrad (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Weather Man), and executive produced by Gil Bellows (Temple Grandin), Conrad, Glen Ficarra (Crazy Stupid Love, Focus), Charlie Gogolak (Focus), and John Requa (Crazy Stupid Love, Focus).

Such a great series. I have watched it over 3 times. Should be more made :) But maybe it was good that it ended for John :)
It’s really the best.
I felt the same way. I get the many people wanted to see more, and there jellyfish that needed to be handled, but I felt such a wave of relief when the show ended with Jon being told he would be alright, knowing there wouldn’t be any more pain to watch

I think I’ve watched it like 15 times now. Lol. Idk why but it helped me get through Covid.
I havent started the 2nd season yet, I just really liked the first season and am thinking of re-watching it again. I got worried about how they were developing Johns character, and was worried if they did it wrong it would ruin the show for me. Did they make him into a horrible person? Or did they keep that side of him that fought so hard to maintain some goodness, and not cross certain lines?

I find this scene very unsettling on a second watch through.. the way John chuckles at 0:04 makes me think that he might be traumatized by this song 'cause it's always been the ringtone of his "call off the mission" phone. It's crazy how such an endearing scene can change when put into context.
I loved this show so much. I love all of John's therapeutic folk songs and this duet is fantastic!
