Your horrified facial expressions during the dinner are PRICELESS!!!! Does this mean no snake surprise for you????
If you enjoyed these, the third one is the best in my opinion.. If you like Indiana Jones movies you might also like the "National Treasure" movies with Nick Cage.
yes
It's not the best
@@lordwalker71 in you're opinion. You might be surprised that others have different ideas and tastes than what you have.
Don’t forget “Tomb Raider” as well
I look forward to you getting to The Last Crusade. Much better movie.
Temple of Doom is actually a bit of a prequel, as the story was set several years before Raiders of the Lost Ark.
20:53 I remember the whole theater went nuts at this iconic shot:
"Yeaahhh! Whooo!" [Applause]
My mom and I visited Amber Fort in Jaipur, India... the real life Temple of Doom... was pretty cool. We also visited the Temple of Karnak in Luxor, Egypt, and Petra in Jordan, and Venice and other places in Europe and the US, so if we go to Machu Picchu in Peru then we'll have visited all of the major locations that inspired the major settings of the Indiana Jones movies.
Epic bucket list 😊
You discover his acquisition of ophidiophobia (fear of snakes) in the third installment, The Last Crusade. Being a reptile zookeeper and manager for decades, I always loved these movies. Despite Indy's yellow streak.
"Right. All of us..."
One of Indy's best moments and one of the reasons Temple of Doom is my favorite of the series. He has the treasure, but risks everything to save the children.
That and a fantastic friendship with endlessly charming Short Round. They make such a great team! I really want to see Ke Huy Quan return to the franchise now that he's acting again. A Dr. Round spin-off would be amazing.
Spielberg and Lucas are very good friends. The girl with Indiana jones is actualy Steven spielberg's Wife. For the meal, as we say in my country (france) "bon appetit !"
I can't wait for your "Last Crusade" reaction! Considered by many to be the best entry in this franchise...
"Not possible, but fun!" - The Indiana Jones movies in one sentence 😃
Yet so many people seem to just say that Crystal Skull is too impossible, as though that hasn't been true for all of them.
Some interesting facts: This is technically a prequel because it is set in 1935. Raiders of the Lost Ark is set in 1936. The kid who plays Shortround is also in The Goonies. And Kate Capshaw, who plays Willie, married Steven Spielberg. You will find out why he hates snake in The Last Crusade.
She's singing "Anything Goes" by Cole Porter in Mandarin. She's actually pretty good; I can understand her. I'm ABC (American Born Chinese) so I guess that helps.
Edit: SHORT ROUND!!! Yay!
Indy and company start in Shanghai. The plane they're on crosses the Great Wall (which is northish of Shanghai). They swing around the Himalayas (which is where the pilots jump out). And, voila, we're in northern India once we get past the mountains.
Those giant bats might actually be flying foxes (well, that's what they're called but still bats). I think they're fruit bats.
With the hurricane heading this way, it's nice to have your videos bring some much needed laughter.
In case you see this, just wanna thank you:)
Kate Capshaw married Steven Spielberg they're still together, I love this movie its fun, dark, twisted, super entertaining. The Last Crusade is my favorite in the series looking forward to your reaction for that one, I did like this one better than the 1st one too, all are amazing though
This movie is so much fun, and one cannot imagine anyone else playing Indiana Jones but Harrison. Make sure to watch tjr others too
Yeah George Lucas after the release of Star Wars teamed up with his friend Steven Spielberg to do Raiders of the Lost Ark. So both Star Wars and Indiana Jones are Lucasfilm franchises but Indiana Jones is a George Lucas and Steven Spielberg collaboration. That is probably why Indiana Jones is sooooooo good. My favorite is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade I'm excited for you to eventually get to watch that one.
Hey James... Temple of doom is great movie, it more of sequel \ prequel to raiders. It takes place before Raiders of the lost ark. That why Indy is little bit different. Plus this was the movie that created the pg-13 label. Parents thought it was little to much for kids to be pg . Hence pg-13 was made. also Kate capshaw was married to Spielberg at the time so he enjoy putting her though the bugs in the cave.
I like this one better than the first one too. When I was a kid, this one was my favorite of the series; but as I've gotten older, I've come to really like the third one too.
This has been absolutely delightful!!! You've somehow captured the sheer joy and thrills I got (and still get!!), when seeing this movie!
Did you notice the club at the beginning was named Club Obi-Wan? Nice star wars connection!
I've got my dogs all seven of them were ready we got our popcorn loaded with butter 😅🍿
Love it!. You should check out my Patreon Tina. You could watch the whole movie with me!

It's wonderful of you to share your adventure of watching new movies(new to you)!
It makes seeing the movie again so much fun. I swear Indy has 9 lives!!! :)
You can really see how many really great films Lucas and Spielberg worked on.
The whole minecart ride was a minture with pupets in it. Thanks to a few blue screens, closeups and edeting you bearly see it.
Same puppetry + chromakey technique they used for the speeder bike chase in RotJ I believe.
@@LordVolkov Probably, wasn't ILM also involved in these movies? I really don't know. But I saw how they done the effects here by a YT Channel specialized in VFX.
Loved this reaction! Your comments are hilarious!
Thank you!! 😁
They were the must watch trilogy back in the day. Certainly another enjoyable film and thanks for the review.
This was my favorite Indiana Jones movie as a kid. I always wanted to be that kid. AWESOME reaction!
I got a movie suggestion for you to react to. One of my favorites. The Final Countdown. (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz.
Indiana Jones a true 80's action hero. I love all the movies (except the Crystal skull one). Great review!! Keep enjoying😊😉
The actor who played short round is Ke Huy Quan, who was also in goonies was retired from acting for quite a time until recently when he was in “everything, everywhere, all at once” which is an amazing movie, although i recomend seeing it after ratatoi (i cant spell)
This is the movie that got me obsessed with Egyptian mythology and archeology an absolute 10 ❤️
You will know why Indy hates snakes soon enough ;)
Also, he'd be dead if it were up to me, cause I would not put my hand in a wall full of bugs!
Willie : You know how to fly, don't you?
Indiana Jones : Um, no. Do you?
“man! Indy’s kinky!!” 😂 I literally burst out laughing from your comment. Priceless !!!!
I've never seen any of the Indiana Joneses either. You've inspired me to watch them!
Super fun reaction! My favorite Indiana Jones film! Such a fun ride from beginning to end. While I think the 3rd Indiana Jones film (The Last Crusade) is the best, this one has the most rewatchability for me.
Heeeeeeeey everyone its James! has become my favorite into to any UA-cam video. Love your channel and reactions!
That dinner scene…and the bugs…I just can’t 😖😖
8:42 I'm sorry buts that face expression is priceless. lol
We can never go wrong with a Spielberg-Lucas film indeed. Although it's not my favorite in the trilogy, it's still enjoyable to watch. I realized that I actually liked watching it more now that I hear somebody else reacting through it. Thanks for giving these somehow old movies a chance to still shine in this generation.
Best reaction I've seen for this movie. For my 12th birthday my parents took me and a friend to see this in a theater. I hadn't seen the first movie. And had no clue it existed because it was called RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK... no INDIANA JONES in the title. But anyway, you definitely brought back my childhood love for this movie. Rented it several times before making my own copy in the 80s. You will love the 3rd film also.
I watched this movie when I was 8 years old, I am now 32. Such great memories watching this with mom. I agree with u, this is much better than no 1. A lot of people doesn't like the sequel because they find Willie's complaints annoying. I actually find her very funny. 🤭.
PS : Was just wondering if Dolores Claiborne is coming. Ever since you said it was added to your list. I have been waiting 🤭
So happy you are reacting to these movies. They remain awesome to me still to this day!
Lol, I saw this on a school field trip... in maybe 5th grade? We talked about the dinner scene and especially the eyeball soup forever! 🤣 no wonder it prompted the "PG13" rating into being!
Hold on, WTH... They let you watch movies in school. Didn't you even have to help birth a cow?
@@AwesomeUSMovies actually we saw it at the theater... pretty sure it was at the end of the year for kids with good grades, but I don't think any of the teachers had previewed it!
No, no cows for me! Lol
Awesome Movie and Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
look at the dates in the opening; Ford is playing a younger Indiana Jones. He got into top form, so he spends a lot of time with his shirt off in this one. Club Obi Wan, the most visible egg in the show. Jones' travel agent is a Dan Akroyd in cameo. Indy is truly lost, he's in Sri Lanka, India wouldn't allow the production in their country. The village leader did not speak English, Spielberg said the lines off camera and the leader would repeat them phonetically. The production discovered it takes 1000 bugs to cover one square foot of floor. The bugs were refrigerated to slow them down, otherwise they scattered instantly, to join the 100's of snakes they lost in the first film. When the bridge splits it goes from Sri Lanka to the UK in one cut. Amish Puri was in Mola Ram mode all the time on set, frightening the cast and crew.
That dinner scene never goes away.
Whenever I start watching these indy movies, I start with temple of doom since this is set in '35, Raiders in '36 and last crusade in '38.
The crazy parachute raft scene is actually completely plausible, btw. The Myth Busters tried it, expecting it to fail, and then had to figure out why it worked. It's the same reason cats and squirrels, for example, can fall from virtually any height without major injury -- as long as they don't flip over. They spread themselves out and reach terminal velocity almost immediately and fall at a constant speed instead of accelerating. The raft, too, as long as it doesn't flip.
Cover your heart Indie. Cover your heart!!!
The opening to this film is one of theeee best openings in the whole of cinema. Loved the reactions to this film at the time veing so dark but its a true timeless classic and cant wait to intoduce my kids to it
Hehehe I love it when you make that shocked face and say those random sounds 😅 you're very entertaining. I'm really proud of you whenever you recognise multiple people now compared to when you started the channel. Cos I know how much you must feel proud and good about it. Fun fact: the big guy Indy fought in this film who ended up getting squashed in the huge rock crusher roller thing was the same actor from the first Indiana Jones Raiders of Lost Ark film who was fighting Indy next to the plane and got mashed up by the propeller 😁
I saw this from the front row of the theater. I was 5 years old. This was just before pg-13 hit. This movie and "Gremlins" were 2 big reasons for the new rating. I caught them both in time!!
Interesting trivia. Harrison Ford worked out for the movie cause he knew he was gonna be shirtless in part of the movie. He also hurt his back before the train cart scene.
Wait til you watch the 3rd installment of this series… you’ll see why he Hates snakes:)
the english accent guy showing them aboard the plane was played by Dan Aykroyd
Re: The dinner: I saw a reaction to this by an Indian, and she de-bunked all of this, sayng that anyone here would be Hindu or Buddhist, none of whom make a habit of eating living creatures.
this moviw was shot during a time when Lucas and Spielberg were going through divorces. Willie was played by Kate Capshaw who would later marry Steven Spielberg. Short was played by Ke Quay Kwan who would also appear in The Goonies. and then would disappear from hollywood because there was enough roles for asian actors. He would later resurface in 2022 and win a Oscar for best supporting actor in Everything Everyone All At Once.
Narional Treasure is a movie you really should watch (there are two National Treasures).
This movie is super fun and yes "memorable" is certainly the right word for it. This is one of the movies responsible for them creating the PG-13 rating. Parents were horrified when they brought their little kids to the theater to see this.
This film as well as Gremlins (1984) - also another Steven Spielberg related movie, were responsible for the PG-13 rating to be created...
@@MLJ7956 Yep. Spielberg got away with murder back in the day.
Everyone thinks this isn’t as good as the first, but it’s my personal favorite from childhood. I think we had it on an old vhs tape, recorded from tv, so maybe that’s why.
I loved this movie as a kid. For the longest time it was my favorite of the first three films. I loved the idea of being able to pull someone's heart out of their chest and still having them live. I also enjoyed the dinner scene because it just seemed so gross and crazy. However, I now place this as the third best of the first three films. It is still an enjoyable film to watch, but I just like the way Raiders and Last Crusade are written. I can see why you like this one more than Raiders, though, James. Glad you enjoyed it.
A lot of people didn't like the character of Willie and people said she only got the role because she was dating Spielberg and eventually became Mrs Spielberg. Dan Ackroyd is the guy who leads them to the plane at the beginning.
Excited for this one! Was hoping you’d do more Indiana Jones! I love getting franchise continuity 🤣 short round is one of the kids in the goonies!
I like that you pointed out that the volume of water in the "water tower/bucket" wasn't nearly enough to be a threat to them way down the tunnel. That's the one part that really really bothered me that it was played out as such a big moment. Especially after we watched them go through probably at least half a mile of tunnels that went through huge cavernous chambers and over pits lol.
In the third film, which is also the best one, you will finally learn why Indy hates snakes. And how that started. That's what good sequels do, they provide answers to old questions.
These movies have creepy imagery that will stick with you for life.
In case it wasn't already mentioned, this is technically a prequel. As the date at the beginning, predates the first film. These events are before Raiders.
Raiders will always be the best for me. If you want to see Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) all grown-up, watch this year’s “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, my nomination for best movie so far of 2022. It’s very Matrix-y, and will blow your mind, and I’ll be surprised if you don’t love it!
Great reaction as always! Temple of Doom was always my favourite as a kid, perfect mix of fun cool stuff and scares and I really wanted to be shortround! As an adult I prefer the third film, Last Crusade, but I'll always watch this whenever its on tv especially around the holidays with my nephew/nieces.
Yay! Score one for my favourite Indy film. Nice to hear that you agree with my assessment, so far. For me, the Temple of Doom is the most enjoyable of all the Indy films. It is also the best crafted, in my opinion, from an editorial standpoint. This film builds and builds to non-stop action in the third act, and it's really dark at a time that blockbuster films weren't so dark generally.
What's another dark sequel from a few years earlier, that also happens to be a Lucasfilm production? That's right, the Empire Strikes Back. People complained about that film at the time but it would go on to receive praise as the greatest Star Wars film ever. I hope that someday more people will come to appreciate this masterpiece adventure as the best Indy film ever. It does have big competition, in truth, from the first and third Indy film, both brilliant in their own right. The fourth... yeah, that's not even in the running.
These kind of movies you just grab the popcorn, suspend your disbelief temporarily and know that in the end the good guys win and the hero gets the girl. You just have to hope they tell a good story between points A and B.👍
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is the best imo. Looking forward to when you get to that one.
Terminator is like that too. In that I like the second one more than the first also. Really glad you're enjoying this journey. Love your positive attitude also.
Whooo Hooo!!! More Indiana Jones adventures!!! The Indiana Jones series are one of my absolute favorites!!! 😍🤩😍
I'll never forget the bridge scene.
The effects in this are so awesome.
This was my first Indiana film, some hard scenes to watch but a great movie. My favorite though will always be The Last Crusade. Thank you for another awesome reaction!
If you love these Indiana Jones, you would also love The Mummy and The Mummy Returns with Brendan Fraser. They are a similar rollicking good time.
When I was a kid, whenever my parents watched this I remember hiding during the heart ceremony scene and only coming back when it was past that part. Funny the banquet scene didn't have the same effect but I think it was just too... weird? As opposed to terrifying, I suppose.
Last Crusade is my favorite, can't wait for the reaction 🙂
1. Many folks don't care for this one very much, but I do.👌
2. Just a small suspension of belief regarding the lifeboat drop out of the plane🙄
3. When I was in the US Navy I got to eat monkey (but not monkey brains) and dog in the Philippines.
4. Shortround is "Billy Badass"🤬😎
5. Disneyland already has a "Raiders of the Lost Ark" so another one of the ride through
the tunnel/mine would be cool too.
6. Kate Capshaw got the Willie gig because she was dating and later became
Spielberg's wife.
This was in fact a prequel. I like this one better than the first. The 3rd one is also a good watch
People don't realize that George Lucas created Indiana Jones, wrote the screenplay with Lawrence Kasdan, & hired Steven Spielberg to direct. George's dog was named Indiana. Spielberg married Kate Capshaw, & are still married to this day. Also, these films are when Kathleen Kennedy came into Lucasfilm family(She runs Lucasfilm now). Lastly, I have a movie suggestion that you must add to the Patreon poll that I consider one of the funniest movies in the 90's, & it is Major Payne. People were literally falling out in the isles laughing back in the mid 90's. Trust me, treat yourself to Major Payne(1996) starring Damon Wayans.
Great to start the week off with some indiana jones reaction, still remembered some scenes from this movie 🙂
Loved your reaction, can’t wait for the last crusade
Temple of Doom is fun, but more like a non-stop rollercoaster ride than the spirited adventure of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The intense and somewhat gruesome scenes in this film and another film, Gremlins, led to the creation of the PG-13 film rating.
26:10 I always figured that since the stones were originally Shiva's and Mola Ram stole them, he has offended Shiva and therefore the stones burn him. Meanwhile, Jones has taken on an honorable quest to save the village and so that one stone stays with him, so he can take it back.
Basically, the Shankara stones are like the One Ring; they have a mind of their own and when the opportunity arises, they manipulate events to get to where they want to be.
interesting perspective.
the dinner scene is one of my favorite parts of this movie :)
The third Indiana movie explains the snake phobia. No spoilers.
This movie also freaked me out as a kid the bugs and stuff pretty scary. Hard to belive it didn't get an r rating.
I can't even remember a single Indiana Jones movie I may have watched one maybe part of another one when I would hang out with my grandparents during the summer
My favorite out of the franchise ❤️❤️
I really enjoy the Indiana Jones series!
I’m glad you liked this one. It’s my favorite of the series
Temple of Doom (1935) is actually a *prequel* to Raiders of the Lost Ark (1936).
9:35 you must watch Indiana Jones Last Crusade to find out why he hates snakes 😂😂
I agree with you 100% I do like this one better than the first one but Last Crusade is my favorite.
Yes, this is the grossest Indiana Jones adventure, and its suppose to be the first one, and the Raiders movie should have been the second. The best would be the third one.
You are right about the sulfur. All Hollywood movies involving volcanoes seem to forget this little detail, not just this one.
As always a great reaction, super enjoyable to watch. Rough times IRL of late, but this had me laughing and not focused on problems. You enjoyed the movie as intended, so many nag on this movie, it's a really fun faster paced movie compared to the first installment. I believe you'll love the 3rd movie as well. Thank you
man the minecart scene was so much fun lol
Hey James, in answer to your question in the last video for Raiders Of The Lost Ark:
There's a total of 4 Indiana Jones movies
Sean Connery's in the next one as Indy's Father
Most fans prefer Temple. I grew up with is. Raiders and Crusade are good but villain in other 2 is the same. Temple was based on the old 50 adventure films like Gunga Din and King solomon's mines etc.
