Started with the Unigate milk float rattling into the close. Happy days.

I remember the first episode. I remember the Grants moving in. Bobby, Sheila, Barry, Damon and Karen.

I preferred the older Brookside episodes. I always remember when Ron Dixon opened his new shop on the parade, and said proudly to Mike, ''one day son, there'll be a Dixon's on every high street in the country.'' To which Mike replied, ''There already is.'' 😁

Wouldn't it be nice to take what remains of the old cast back down memory lane and hear their recollections and see their nostalgic reactions. 😊

So nice to see Brookside Close still strongly preserved all these years on. It was such a shame when it became abandoned and in a state of disrepair after the show ended, I really thought it would end up destroyed by vandalism and completely redeveloped eventually as something which would entirely erase the place as we knew it. One change I notice though which is quite sad, is the old slabbed pavement replaced with what looks to be very recently laid tarmac. It's not as attractive, and cheapens the character of the place. It'll probably look a lot better once it's weathered and worn in, but it's such a shame to lose those slabs as they dated back right to the start of the show and the Brookside development. Even if they were in poor condition which necessitated their removal, I'd have liked to have seen them replaced with like-for-like slabbing which preserved the look of the Close. I guess tarmac was the far cheaper option.

I totally agree with you 👍 that the slabs have gone , such a shame that such an iconic part of the show has now been changed forever, the writing on the wall has already started for the rest of Brookside close to be completely changed and unrecognisable forever !!!! Such a shame 😞 😔 😪 😕 ahh well , it was good while it lasted !!!!

That was a blast from the past Vince, Damon Grant was my favourite character but jimmy Cork hill was a close second. Jimmy started out as a scally but his character evolved into a bit of a sage to the other members of brookside.

I used to watch Brookside a lot, from the Mandy Jordache storyline through to the Thai drug bust and killer virus storylines. Basically they made it into more of a serial drama than a soap, a bit like the Midsomer Murders but on one Liverpool estate (which is more believable than Midsomer to be honest). I remember hearing these stories being described as dragging the soap into irrelevance, but these were stories that were in the news quite often then (especially the drug bust). There was another siege during the time I watched it, of the cult which had invited itself into one of the houses, another out-of-the-news storyline.

I’m pretty sure ‘that kiss’ happened in the Farnham house. Wasn’t Margaret the babysitter. I can’t believe I remember that, but i’m sure that’s right.

Can't be Brooky, there's been no explosions or car theft for at least 5 mins.
