Thanks so much for making this. I know I had I ton of questions and you cleared them up really well and very thoroughly just in time for me to know what to do without experimenting too much during ladder. I caught it live but love the condensed and edited version. Also big thanks to your discord chat!
Just made my first assassin in 20 years. Glad I could finally make a mosiac. Thanks to my community for all the help and donations, and thank you to MacroBioBoi for this amazing video that inspired me to try the build.
I now understand more of why 12 year old me couldn’t get past nightmare with an ma assassin. The amount of interesting mechanics for each skill is really mind blowing.
Detail is cool and all but please show rotation in gameplay. How do you charge up to finishing move? Is there a particular order to use charging skills? Should’ve included this type of information as well…
mind blast is a must if you spam chaos sanctuary, convert some mobs before popping last seal, kill them when they normalize and then your charges dont fall off for diablo. also its really good for building charges in dense areas like cow level before you have good gear / survivability especially when the portal is crowded. its just super useful all around. also found that a blessed aim mercenary is FAR more usefull then any other mercenary since once you have charges his damage is obsolete, so why the hell not make him usefull for the initial charge build up where you are prone to wiffing even when you use high dex requirement claws. I also ended up using both cold and light sunder charms so no mob was ever immune to freeze, it makes it hard to cap res, but you can max out fade like i do and use burst of speed for charge building (i dont max out fire claw cos i like to leech, especially since you can do Dclone and ubers on this build). next patch with the next hit delay fix is going to make this build so damn broken and fun and is goin to push the starter build to far higher damage potential allowing you to do endgame content far earlier then you would currently. i literally didnt play d2r since release, i came back just for this build and it was so worth it and so much fun. never played an assassin before and ive been playing d2 since i was a kid. ive always been a hammerdin but this build 100% converted it and if blizzard dont nerf it, it will become my go to 2nd build after a MF sorc everytime.
That’s how mine is setup as well, bos and merc to help charges, i have some points into fade until my gear is how I want it. I have fof lower as well to make sure cobra strike leaches and only enough points into kick to stay 4 kicks.
Great vid. I made basically the exact same assassin and yea it shreds P8 like its normal. One thing is I didn't need any sundering charm at all. No sundering, no infinity, and zero problems in lv 96 terrorized P8 zones. So much damage from every element type that it's just not necessary. This build is amazing but certainly over-tuned. This is in high end gear of course.
Hey Macro, I just wanted to thank you for pointing out how useful Dragon Claw can be. I still use 7 kicks on Dragon Talon, but keeping Dragon Claw on left click and cycling through my charge skills on right click made it so much easier to get all of my MA charges going! Once i get all the charges, I use both Dragon Claw and Dragon Talon. Thanks for the good content!
i love that this build exists.. not just 1 button click and u kill everything, you actually need to swap spells to get stacks and THEN destroy everything
This is a bad design - they created a cheap, OP, must have item that breaks the game and forces a single finishing skill. I prefer Project Diablo 2 approach - they redesigned Martial Arts so that when you for example attack with Phoenix Strike you gain a charge and cast a meteor at 1 charge, lightnings at 2 charges and ice projectiles at 3 charges. If you keep attacking with PS you just cycle through these and build charges from 0 but you can use any finishing skill to spend the charges and cast up to three skills at once. It is a great design as it creates an actual GAMEPLAY, doesn't require a particular item, doesn't force any particular skill and doesn't break the game. I hope D2R copy-pastes this approach in the future.
i made a super budget version of this. the only piece of equipment i have from your list are the dual mosaics. my level 53 assassin was just melting everything at 8 player difficulty in nightmare, with an insight mercenary. the only skill i was able to max was phoenix strike... between all the + to skills wear i have it's maybe +7 to martial arts. once she gets even close to the gear and skill levels you have it will be ridiculous....
What's crazy is it could be so much stronger if they took some of the things that pd2 did. Like each charge using that damage release and the release before it. So at 3 charges of ps you use all 3 releases. And you don't need to use the release skills to actually release the charges. Change kiras to what pd2 did with -enemy res. Remove the cool down on dragon flight.
Solid video, thanks for talking about NHD. I feel a lot of people aren't explaining that and it will give a few people bad experiences in a lower gear as they will likely just follow the original skill tree.
I didn't know the hidden mechanic of Fist of Fire. I thought there was a bug with the leech not being applied. Thanks for the info. Overall I don't like Mosaic. It is strong but I don't like that we are forced to use this rune word.
And here i am getting PTSD every time I remember how hard I tried to make my self wielding Infinity phoenix strike/talon assassin work on the old LOD. Jeez, it has been a long way since
FUUUUUUUU!!!!!! I was really thinking about playing a Sorc this ladder (usually pick a Barb but wanted a change of pace) and then you post THIS video...
Took me about 2 weeks to get dual Mosaic on my Assassin (was done laying down traps) and about 2 hours later I was already completely fed up with 'get your charges up and right-click-cruise any area you get yourself into'... Guess I will go Sorc after all 🤡
Things we still need: 1. more endgame content (Mapping, new areas, new bosses --> like in POE or PD2) 2. rework existing uniques/unused runewords 3. rework unused skills (for example Vengeance Paladin --> could be triggered by Flickering Fire (+fire skills) for example) D2R has so much potential to be the best game ever but we need MORE content + updates New Patchnotes are kinda weak again..
Very nicely done, dude, keep it up! I'd just like to give some feedback about the background music, it's slightly too loud compared to your voice. Don't want it to overpower you or what you are saying. That being said, it was good and chill music though!
Macro Dude it is very nutty. I was melting stuff in early act 4 hell with all of the charges active it is insane. It is some what cumbersome to get all of the charges but once you do it is all worth it. I just shredded Izual in a matter of seconds with this build.
after a couple hours of testing I ended up on the same build as your budget build save running Talon over Claw mastery. I can see why you would want to go Dragon claw over Talon however. Functionally the core of the build is TS for single damage, Phoenix strike 2 and COT for the best aoe, and BOI3 for survival. From there you can go 1 point fishers with utility skills, or you can go 20 points in the finisher of your choice: Talon for single target (CB) or Tail for the fire aoe. the entire build comes online with 2x Mal+Gul so this build potentially is going to be the "Cold sorc" of s3 and I am 100% on board for it. My one caution is that if you go Dragon Talon DO NOT use Phoenix Strike level 1 charge, despite it not being on the NHD list. after 20-30 seconds of sustained DPS in one area your framerate takes a dump.
@@chesian for a pure AOE Dragon talon build go Quhab with 0 additional ias for a 4 frame kick. If you use any other finisher go (runic) talon as you want the fastest breakpoint.
Great video Mac! Question though: why choose greater talons over runic talons? In the budget build especially, would you not benefit from more phys damage?
It's such a fun build. Although I haven't tried it since mosaic came out and I'm working towards that. I need to relearn which charge up skills and finishing skills to use.
Just for the people who really wanna min max with the nhdl. At a certain IAS breakpoint all kicks but the last from dragon talon hit every 3 Frames. Because of the nhdl of 4 Frames only every second kick will apply the nova damage. At this point it can be better to swap to dragon claw, because you cant go below 5 Frames per Attack, so your nova will allways hit every 5 Frames instead of skipping a kick and only hit every 6 Frames :)
You could also change to slower base claws to stay at 4 frames. Together with server ping on ladder it should solve the problem. Or just ignore the nhdl with endgame gear
I tested it with max DTail, Tigerstrike, CoT, PS and the rest in Ice Blades. All on 3 charges except 2 charge PS. Ridiculous damage, sustain and defense.... :D Easily ripped through P8 including DClone and Uber xD
I will also go this MA build but i will start D2R ladder mostly in some weeks because i am starting diablo 3 season this up coming friday and to let prices currently go down a little ( for high runes, enigma etc )
Great video :D ! What would be the best/fastes way to farm the runes to get the 2 mosaic's ? Start ladder on a sorc and farm hell countess or just start with the assassin in trap spec and farm whatever ? Or what will be the best way to get those specific runes if any way at all ?
This is my problem every season. I felt I had to play sorc to farm gears for the efficiency, then I ended up play sorc most of the time. I want to play something else without worrying the efficiency thing.
For what i see hammerdin Gc and torch are more expensive the assassin ones but you don’t need griffon and infinity on the hammerdin and I am not talking about the special claw you whant to have. For what I see it’s easier to get the hammerdin but if you are sick of playing it, the assassin is a good alternative.
When you mention a "budget version" I was hoping it would be a version without the 2 runewords :) Havent found the bases yet and only have one Mal rune. Right now i am still leveling with a bartuc and a jade (for the res) so I still need to stack every charge up. It's challenging but still fun.
@@MacroBioBoi Thanks for your reply...I saw other people suggesting that with 4 frames kicks the NHD issue would be solved. My assumption is that since all missiles travel at different speeds, even at 4 frames, the NHD "window" of each charge will affect the other charges. Is this correct? Additionally, the charges that do not have NHD would deal less damage at 4 frames kick speed. But I never did a direct comparison between 3 and 4 frames kick speed, I am at 3 frames right now and I was wondering if I should thy 4 frames or just go on with 3.
Great info! Would be nice with a ias breakdown, which claw bases are BiS, which are unplayable, which can work if u get ias on other items like goldwrap etc, so noobs like me know which claws are worth picking up and checking staff mods and which to just leave on the ground and not even bother looking at :P
I've waited for 20 years... That's our S-tier worthy competitor to sorcs, hammerdins and javazons. Fingers crossed they not gonna nerf it to the ground
I hope the exact same thing! I had planned to level a Frozen Obr - Lightning Sorc but the went for a Trapsin just to evolve into a Christmastree-sin once I find me the Runes (just need 2 more Guls atm on Ladder). Instead of nerfing this they should try and buff other things just to allow all Classes to have some sort of an S-tier build. The MA assassin might need a couple alterations to the amount of Charges you can keep up at a time, but for now... lets have some fun with a skilltree that finally works :)
MA sins use Dragon Tail (max) as a main, with 3 Tiger Strike (max) and 3 Cobra Strike (1pt) charges. You use both physical and fire sunder charms, and your Dragon Tail will give you around 100k AOE damage and 300% leech all the time, not the 10k lightning damage from Phoenix Strike dude
Amazing knowledge and explanation thank you! Question.. Is there a max amount of different charges you can have active all at once? Or can you have every single type of charge active all at once if you want?
An Uber variant of this build would be interesting. I guess one would have to up crushing blow and stick to the kicks. Which charges would make the most sense and would one go for max claw block?
Maybe I have overseen it in the video. Regarding Mosaic Bases. Can I use also blade talons or runic talons instead of greater talons, if they have good skills on it? The difference is only for stats-requirement? For finisher kick, the phys dmg of the boots is relevant, not the base weapon-dmg, or? I hope my question is understandable, sorry for my worse english.
Love your videos. Love this build, just having a hard time getting the charge I want on Phoenix strike. I understand the different charges, like 2nd charge for Chain Lightning, but more often than not, when I hit the button twice, alot of times I either get the fire or get the cold, so I use the claw synergies instead because I know what I am getting. I also add them if I wind up getting the unintended charge on Phoenix. Thnx
is the fire damage on lvl 2 fists of fire affected by next hit delay? or do you not use it in order to leech more with cobra strike at a budget gear level? and is base claw speed very important if you don't use BoS and only run 20% ias? is there a specific breakpoint that is worth going for? am i correct to assume that on players 1, dragon talon breakpoints and kick damage on boots don't really matter too much? due to mostly using dragon claw (with decent gear) sorry, a lot of questions but this build is completely new after all :D
This is one of the videos I can watch 50 times a day and still not be able to extract the information needed lol. No, seriously. Here's some feedback. The build mechanics is already complicated, but the way it was explained here, was just confusing. This video is a very technical deep-dive. You should focus more on the practical side of things and keep it slow and short. Do deep-dive videos seperately. I still wonder what amount of charges of what skills I should use, what build variants are possible as low budget, what stats I should focus on, how the whole boots = kick damage works, whch of the 4 finishers is the best etc. Some of it was mentioned vaguely, but not really explained. Anyhow, thanks for the upload, I'm sure everyone can extract lots of useful info out of it. The build is super fun, have leveled one myself, just hit level 60 and got my Treachery with a lucky Lem rune find.
So, what did we learn today? Prices for Mal and Gul will go through the roof early S3. What did we not learn today? How to best farm these runes w/o the default cold sorc. 😉 Besides that, great nerdy show as usual.
I got lucky with an Ist Rune from Nightmare Cows (1 in 265k chance or so...) just to have something to start trading with (Traded Ist + Um for 2x Mal). Now all I need is stuff to trade for those Gul Runes and then the actual 3os Claws :P
Great video. However can you show us a demo how you play in slow motion and explain. I attack this with this charge, then I swap this... You know.. Like for dummies out there, it could be usefull. I also wonder if it worth going full cold, with cold sunder budget build ? Will that permafreeze everything? What will gear be in that case (rich and budget) ? Budget build is critical, because not all players uses D2 JPS or other cheats. :) Thanks.
For anyone trying to make this build don't use greater talons unless you got millions of gold to throw away cost way to much on ladder to repair runic is fine i guess 10k gold per point down and feral claws from what I've heard.
If the new Blizzard team is listening, the old Blizzard North team really missed following-through with the theme of Phoenix Strike outputting unique skills with unique graphics... It should be something like: Charge 1: Chaos Inferno Charge 2: Chaos Lightning Charge 3: Chaos Ice Bolt
does it work to charge first : tiger strike 2nd: fists of fire 3rd: blades of ice 4th : claws of thunder 4th: Phoenix strike what would be the best dmg combination for a full gear version?
I'm basically the first build and it totally owns. The problem I have is that I have to constantly spam mana potions... anybody got a simple trick to improve mana without swapping out infinity? Remove fists of fire and use cobra strike maybe? Also with the fire conversion of fists of fire thing... does it only happen when you have charges up, or just passively for having the skill? If I wanted to mostly use build one, but get a bit of life/mana leech involved... would I just not use fists of fire and then use cobra strike with dragon talon? Or do I have to switch to dragon claw also? MA assassin is confusing lol
Hi Mac, how did you solve next hit delay issue if let’s say with only max phoenix strike and claw of thunder? What’s IAS do you suggest and claw base when used with dragon talon? Thanks in advance
Hey man, is there a way to reduce the graphic effect of these skills? I think I saw a video somewhere with these changes but I haven't been able to figure out if this is in game menu changes or what, also I couldn't find the video. Please let me know if you know, hehe Have a good one
Can i have a request? Please go on the official forum, and explain how is it not a bad thing Assassin OP now. Some toxic gatekeepers are crieing, that it's broken, and has no place in S tier.
for the longevity of the game I think adding it to claw mastery would make sense. the D3 model of needing a specific item to enable a build isn't really the core of what d2 is build around IMO. For instance if we fast forward to 2.7 and they add any new claws people are going to have to change the way they play.
A nice addition to show some love to MA, but the chance to not expend a charge should have went to the MA skills, or claw mastery. IMHO. This is just a lazy way to address how clunky MA feels still.
One more question lol.. For Mosaic base type.. Does it matter what kind of claw I use? Some people are saying slower attack speed to avoid NHD some are saying faster claw to hit faster..
@@MacroBioBoiBoth Greater Talons and Runic Talons have same IaS (-30), though str and dex req. varies but I prefer Runic Talons since it's an Elite Katars.
How difficult is it to keep all the mechanics together? I’ve never played a build like this before and it is a bit overwhelming to keep everything straight. Thanks.
Hybrid means your single attack hors two different resistances which makes it challenging. You end up doing roughly 40% of the damage you think you would without infinity or decrepify. But it's good enough for sure.
this is the best martial arts guide on youtube hands down. thank you so much. nice to show skill build with and without enigma and griffons

@@FabioAlessioVittoria You cant solve the NHD issue unless you just dont use Claws of Thunder which is actually the play.
Great info! Would be nice with a ias breakdown, which claw bases are BiS, which are unplayable, which can work if u get ias on other items like goldwrap etc, so noobs like me know which claws are worth picking up and checking staff mods and which to just leave on the ground and not even bother looking at :P
I'd recommend D2Planner on Maxroll for that.
im still building my wifes Mosaic Sin so shes the budget version and it still shreds. i have the Max version and its just insane
Love the videos
I've waited for 20 years... That's our S-tier worthy competitor to sorcs, hammerdins and javazons. Fingers crossed they not gonna nerf it to the ground
I hope the exact same thing!
I had planned to level a Frozen Obr - Lightning Sorc but the went for a Trapsin just to evolve into a Christmastree-sin once I find me the Runes (just need 2 more Guls atm on Ladder).
Instead of nerfing this they should try and buff other things just to allow all Classes to have some sort of an S-tier build.
The MA assassin might need a couple alterations to the amount of Charges you can keep up at a time, but for now... lets have some fun with a skilltree that finally works :)
what should I level first? Great video man for low level
Tried it, it's ok.
More gameplay showing chargeup and a run of chaos would be great please! The chargeup is getting me confused
Amazing knowledge and explanation thank you! Question.. Is there a max amount of different charges you can have active all at once? Or can you have every single type of charge active all at once if you want?
You can have every amount of every charge simultaneously
@@MacroBioBoi Thank you for responding! :D
Great video. So is mosaic available to make on non-ladder?
An Uber variant of this build would be interesting. I guess one would have to up crushing blow and stick to the kicks. Which charges would make the most sense and would one go for max claw block?
Kicks + tiger + leach + some cb/ds on boots and helmet
Maybe I have overseen it in the video. Regarding Mosaic Bases. Can I use also blade talons or runic talons instead of greater talons, if they have good skills on it? The difference is only for stats-requirement? For finisher kick, the phys dmg of the boots is relevant, not the base weapon-dmg, or? I hope my question is understandable, sorry for my worse english.
You are correct
Love your videos. Love this build, just having a hard time getting the charge I want on Phoenix strike. I understand the different charges, like 2nd charge for Chain Lightning, but more often than not, when I hit the button twice, alot of times I either get the fire or get the cold, so I use the claw synergies instead because I know what I am getting. I also add them if I wind up getting the unintended charge on Phoenix. Thnx
This simply can't be true. It works for me 100% of the time.
is the fire damage on lvl 2 fists of fire affected by next hit delay? or do you not use it in order to leech more with cobra strike at a budget gear level?
and is base claw speed very important if you don't use BoS and only run 20% ias? is there a specific breakpoint that is worth going for?
am i correct to assume that on players 1, dragon talon breakpoints and kick damage on boots don't really matter too much? due to mostly using dragon claw (with decent gear)
sorry, a lot of questions but this build is completely new after all :D
would have liked to see more gameplay, kinda odd you did not include any.
Everyone is putting out videos of it melting everything. I felt like mechanics, playstyle gear and budget were more important.
Looks really cool, but then I think about the need of getting ALL THE CHARGES BACK if I stared at drops few seconds too long.
another great build video, the only problem i can see is the massive chain lighting blinds my eyes >,
Wasn’t there some next hit delay changes recently? How does it impact this build?
Also a budget option other than insight is Cresent moon.
Crescent moon is pretty bad on a merc. You don't get the -enemy res sadly.
@@MacroBioBoi ahh good point
So two things.
1. You can’t say it’s a budget build if you need two perfect mosaics.
2. This is gonna be nerfed in a week, already hinted by Bluzz
So 1 thing, these mosaics don't even have assassin skills on them and are imperfect rolls. Sorry, 2 things.
You should watch my next video I put out after this one.
So, what did we learn today? Prices for Mal and Gul will go through the roof early S3.
What did we not learn today? How to best farm these runes w/o the default cold sorc. 😉
Besides that, great nerdy show as usual.
I got lucky with an Ist Rune from Nightmare Cows (1 in 265k chance or so...) just to have something to start trading with (Traded Ist + Um for 2x Mal).
Now all I need is stuff to trade for those Gul Runes and then the actual 3os Claws :P
Make hdin, farm chaos private for high runes. Also could use sorc an rush for forges an upgrade runes.
:) Thanks.
I cover budget build in this video
For anyone trying to make this build don't use greater talons unless you got millions of gold to throw away cost way to much on ladder to repair runic is fine i guess 10k gold per point down and feral claws from what I've heard.
hey thanks for awesome video. If possible in simplified solo play on mid tier gear what kind of skill stack is ideal?
Tiger Strike, cobra strike, 1 claws of thunder, blades of ice, 2 Phoenix strike
Finally my favourite class is getting so much love, I am excited to start with traps that have -% enemy res and then do martial arts late game.
If the new Blizzard team is listening, the old Blizzard North team really missed following-through with the theme of Phoenix Strike outputting unique skills with unique graphics... It should be something like:
Charge 1: Chaos Inferno
Charge 2: Chaos Lightning
Charge 3: Chaos Ice Bolt
does it work to charge
first : tiger strike
2nd: fists of fire
3rd: blades of ice
4th : claws of thunder
4th: Phoenix strike
what would be the best dmg combination for a full gear version?
Does the claw dmg influences on tiger strike that is converted to fire dmg? and the boot dmg doesnt matter as there is no physical dmg being done?
Yey a fun build
You can't and it isn't a problem.
The assassin finally is s tier.
Hey man, is there a way to reduce the graphic effect of these skills? I think I saw a video somewhere with these changes but I haven't been able to figure out if this is in game menu changes or what, also I couldn't find the video. Please let me know if you know, hehe
Have a good one
I don't know the exact settings but yes you can. Just turn everything to minimum and slowly increase things until it's where you want it.
Please be advised that this has been announced by Lama weeks ago.
XD yes let me go tell Llama I made the mistake of also playing Diablo 2.
Can i have a request? Please go on the official forum, and explain how is it not a bad thing Assassin OP now. Some toxic gatekeepers are crieing, that it's broken, and has no place in S tier.
They won't be heard. Don't worry.
Still wish the refresh mechanic could make its way onto a skill and not be limited to an endgame runeword.
for the longevity of the game I think adding it to claw mastery would make sense. the D3 model of needing a specific item to enable a build isn't really the core of what d2 is build around IMO. For instance if we fast forward to 2.7 and they add any new claws people are going to have to change the way they play.
Going to imbue some boots finally got a reason to imbue
Want to start ad a Sin this time around. What would be best, to start Trap and then go Phoenix later?
Yes
brb rerolling my trapsin
How do u Kip the magic on when u hit
My magic goes away when I hit
Mosaic runewords
I’m using assassin for my HC starter. Do you think it would be better to level traps until can get 2 mosaic?
Yes
A nice addition to show some love to MA, but the chance to not expend a charge should have went to the MA skills, or claw mastery. IMHO. This is just a lazy way to address how clunky MA feels still.
So perfect claws will be 3 Fenix 3 lightning and any 1 point wonder?
One more question lol.. For Mosaic base type.. Does it matter what kind of claw I use? Some people are saying slower attack speed to avoid NHD some are saying faster claw to hit faster..
You want the fastest claws possible, you can't "beat" NHD. Greater talons are theoretically the best option
@@MacroBioBoiBoth Greater Talons and Runic Talons have same IaS (-30), though str and dex req. varies but I prefer Runic Talons since it's an Elite Katars.
these builds are great, the problem is they are not realistic. who has that many 5 resis 7mf scs?
How difficult is it to keep all the mechanics together? I’ve never played a build like this before and it is a bit overwhelming to keep everything straight. Thanks.
Ots good but you said it. K8nda overwhelming
Do you test Tiger+FoF with Dragon Tail? (Cobra for sust). Without Infinity merc! Hybrid Big dmg phys/fire?
Hybrid means your single attack hors two different resistances which makes it challenging. You end up doing roughly 40% of the damage you think you would without infinity or decrepify. But it's good enough for sure.
