Fun video. Good idea for a challenge. You both found some very interesting books. Next time, no cheating. ;) LOL But really, those hardcover Jane Austen books were lovely. Worth it.
Hi, Claudia, I know this is an old video...but I really LOVE the videos with you and Robyn and wished I had a friend like you both, because it’s quite one of my HOBBIES, to go to charity shops and make a challenge with myself. And because I’m almost 65, I’ve read a lot of your finds, but there were some wonderful new books, too. From Alexander Mc Call I know only the series of the 'only female detective agency in Botswana', where the lady with her tiny white car calls herself a 'woman with a traditional body shape' (never fat), and as this type of a woman, I loved it. And OF COURSE I never could have resisted to buy the whole series of Jane Austen, SO PRETTY! I guess, you’ll have a lot of belated thumbs up rom me...with all that reading, I’m of course very busy, but I like to refresh myself with inspiring videos. Thank you for sharing, sisters in mind, love from Germany, Monika❣️
The Star of the Sea is pretty good. I read it quite a few years ago and I recall there are a lot of twists and turns. It does include a murder mystery that will keep you guessing quite far along in the story. I think there may possibly be a sequel which I haven’t read. (Joseph O’Connor is Sinead’s journalist brother.)
The cover of The Sealwoman's Gift is beautiful! I want to read some Kate Morton! Love Robyn's sunflower earrings. I think up until the hardcovers you were winning, Claudia, but that Jane Austen set is a pretty perfect gift for you! haha
The JA books are the Folio edition, from a boxed set of seven. They are the set we have at the house, and they are beautiful. Other than P&P (read in school) and Northanger (DNF), these are the ones edition from which I read all of Austen. Robyn must be a good friend; I think she won (or did you?).
Love the sunflower earrings Robyn. 🌻🌻 Beautiful books / editions of Jane Austen. I want to make a pilgrimage to Winchester cathedral to Jane Austens grave 🌹
Love that you didn't insert that £5 note haha. I've had How to be a Woman by Moran on my shelf for too long and not read it. Blood Sisters 😂 Those Jane Austen editions are wonderful!
It's always tricky to find the time, with the two of us having very different schedules, but there will definitely more videos with Robyn in the future!
Many years ago I had a cat called Minerva (from the roman goddess of Wisdom) who had a companion called Bellona (from the roman goddess of War) : War and Wisdom. But I always called them Bella and Minnie.
That's so cute! I planned to call my Minerva Minnie but the nick name never stuck. She also doesn't live up to her name by being generally a bit of a silly and stupid cat :D
"... the one with the Spinsters getting silly & having fun ... ." Now, the Fiver, does it have the Queen & Churchill or are those two different notes? I did the Google ...
It had to be fought for! When the Bank of England first announced they were going to replace Elizabeth Fry on the £5 with Winston Churchill, people weren't happy that the only woman represented on the notes would then be the Queen (who is there by default). There was a petition and campaign led by activist Caroline Criado-Perez, and luckily the bank gave in and put Jane Austen on the tenner.
You two are so sweet! And those copies are gorgeous. I had never heard of The Sealwoman's Gift but it sounds right up my alley.
It sounds super interesting!
Robyn won, hands down. Is there a "Best Friend Award"? You might need to give it to her.
I think you might be right!
I literally love these duo videos so much lol You two are honestly such lovely friends. Those Jane Austen books really were gorgeous.
Thank you Alex, we love doing these videos together!
After you have read all of them, or most of them, can you do a video reviewing the book you bought each other and how good your guesses were?
That's a really good idea, thank you! We'll try to do that

Yeah I agree. Still cheating though :P

You should, it's a lot of fun!
@@SpinstersLibrary Don't think it'll be hard to talk her into it!

Yeah, I admit defeat :D
This was such a fun video!
Thank you, we had a lot of fun filming it :)

When I went there many years ago I didn't even find it at first. Until someone mentioned that I was standing right on it.
I would love to go there one day!

Yeah, they really are! I'm not even mad she went over budget for those :P
Sun a fun video. Hope there are more of these in the near future!

The Sealwomans Guft has a sequel too!
CLAUDIA!!! We should buddy read that book!!!
YES THAT IS THE BEST IDEA! How about September?
@@SpinstersLibrary Let's do it! :D
I LOVE this challenge! Does Robyn have a youtube channel?
Unfortunately not, I've been trying to convince her to start one for years
loved the video!
Thank you :)
If you show up in the next video without Robyn I'm going to be very concerned after that Blood Sister book. 😂
And the Jane Austen books decided the win! 😁
Technically you also overspent, Claudia since you regifted one book. 😃
No comment :P
"... the one with the Spinsters getting silly & having fun ... ." Now, the Fiver, does it have the Queen & Churchill or are those two different notes? I did the Google ...
Queen on one side, Churchill on the other :P All British money has the Queen on one side. Jane Austen's on the £10 note.
Wha?!? Jane Austen is on your money! That is so cool!

IS Minerva out of the bag? Are most of your viewers and subscribers American?
