I'm fixing to be 70 years old, and am starting over on my 56 that I have had for 50 years. This is both awe inspiring and depressing! I have so far to go! I don't know if I have enough years left in me to do this. :( But I got a new shop, with a lift, so I am going to give it a hell of a try! If I can't finish it, maybe my son can. ;)
I always feel bad when these resto. shows end up displaying and repairing other people's previous bad work. Just glad this guy is finally in the right shop!!
Prior to returning from overseas while in the military, I ordered a 56 Belaire . It was this same color combo, “fawn beige & Sierra gold”! I picked it up in New Jersey, and drove it to my new duty station in Massachusetts. I also bought three other 56 Chevys. A 2 door panel delivery; a 2 door post; and a nomad. All 265 v8s with powerglide trans. I grew up in Glendale, CA. The first thing I did was remove the fender skirts, they were not cool 😎.

Chip ... I would suggest putting in a Retrosound radio 📻 it's going to give the dash a stock vintage look with modern functionality and he'll have his Bluetooth and USB...
Not that an LS is a bad choice but... all that hood space just begs for a big block. Ah well: top notch work! Relocating fuse block is a great idea - I don't even like drivers side/traditional GM locations, and would rather not stand on my head when troubleshooting.
Start saving your bread bags at home and when you need to pack a wheel bearing put your hand in the bag and then grab the bearing and stick it and you hand in the tub and squeeze the grease in and then pull the bag over the bearing and work the grease in every bit of the bearing and then pull the bag back put the bearing on the and throw the bag away. You don’t even ruin a pair of gloves.
Chip Foose is the best at what he does but I’ve seen so many times he takes a classic and turns it into something it’s not, I’m surprised he didn’t put some over sized rims and low profile tires he has a habit of using, but in this case the owner was so worried about cost didn’t have that option, which makes you wonder why he was at Foose in the first place.
I have a 57 Chevy same color i would love to have Foose work on it but I want it to look like when a came out of the factory not a hot rod just a cruiser and the way i want it not Foose just saying
So when can we get back to classic cars on overhaulin? rumor is or was, the budgets were getting out of hand or when motortrend took over they got cheap, hence fixing up newer cars. i like how when they did shaqs 64, AJ announced like they were doing viewers a favor by bringing a classic in for work, not her fault, just goofy set up. these videos are better than current of most recent episodes of the show. heck, do these weekly.

A little confused by these owners........in the first 3 nims they say i can't afford that or that will cost me more.......then why are they at Foose ??? Seems to me he got what he paid/didn't pay for on previous work. This guy wants Gold at Lead price.
Shame there aren't better tires than crappy ol' Radial T/As (or Coker Classics, Cooper Cobra, etc.) for these cars. Even if it's just a cruiser, all that money in drivetrain, brakes, and suspension is let down by antiquated S- or T-rated tires.
geez they should have gone with an "art morrison" fabricated chassis instead of that "roadster shop chassis."art morrison" chassis is a better designed and fabricated chassis with a superior finish.
Great resto, it's interesting to see a Foose customer who is actually mindful of cost.
Great video. No goofy music, yelling, or throwing wrenches.
AMEN! And I'm not even religious
Chip has Grace and Style,,,, He can "Steal My Car" Anytime,,, I will even hand him the keys

I’m 74 so you have plenty of years to build your dream car. 50 years is a long time to one the 56?
Like Johnny Cash, one piece at a time.
@@terrymott8581 Great song
How's the project going 2 years later? I've got my first '56 Chevy project tore apart right now. I'm documenting it on video.

Chief Foose is a nice boss, congratulations!
I love the painstaking work to keep the original look of the car. Upgrade, but keep true to the look. ACES, Foose team. ACES.
Thanks for posting, always enjoy your videos. No fake drama, screaming or arguing.

They should have tightened the loose bolt, and let the customer do a test drive. Before going ahead of the frame, swap.

Not a bad idea. I got some wheel bearings to pack soon & might try it in a video. Thanks.

is that a Art Morrison frame if not who's is it? I had a 56 chevy just that color when I was about 16. Wish I had that car now.
In the beginning it says it's a Roadster Shop chassis.
hi very nice car
How long does it normally take to do a restomod?
👍
wish I had enough money for a foose design, shit wish I had enough money for one of his bloody pictures of a design lol
You’ve gone this far, why no Air Bags?
How much this restoration is costing you ?
👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏
I do not understand always that ugly colors for transmission and Motor ? Can someone explain it to me ? Greetings from Austria
That's the classic orange Cheverolet is famous for & the owner wanted a period correct look.
👏👏👏🤘😘

Very interesting video. But having that tapping in the background spoils the video.
I want engine black til he heard the price.....hmm....ok put black covers on ...lol
can you redo a couple of things ................ ok I'll do an entire frame off restore lol

To spend all the money on the custom chassis, suspension and brakes to not put a better wheel and tire is just a waste.
Upselling, upselling, upselling. Business must be slow. Just give him what he wants and can afford.
Plz paint my van? I'm 63 yrs old with cancer!!
