This video feels so weird to me, like, I never hear/see people discussing overencumbered runs in DS1 (except in the context of saying "no, I refuse to do 'no fun runs'"), but after watching Iron Pineapple's Elden Ring overencumbered video, I gave it a try, and there were so many oddities that I've never really had the opportunity to talk about with anyone, then here you come along and talk about basically all of them, and now I just feel weird. But, a demon of a run like this (along with consistent good vids) has defs earned a sub from me. Hope you have a nice day!
i played with someone in ds3 who played a tank build. watching him tanking through midir and gael was pretty fun. like it probably wasn't this poise heavy, but he was still able to block a lot of attacks that i didn't think you could tank through.
I know that this is hindsight but here it goes: Strat for Anor Londo Archers, just use the spell "Hiden Body" sold by Dusk of Oolacile and you can get her catalyst too, that spell will prevent the archers from sniping you. Since you started the Challenge in the Hunter's Forest you could've done it before the challenge started and everything or you coul've done the prep to kill the Hydra before the challenge and do it once the challenge starts if that's how you roll. For those who don't know how to find her, you kill the Hydra in Dark Root Basin, then hug the left wall and walk into the basin, at the end you'll find a Golden Crystal Golem. Once you kill the golem Dusk will be free, you have to talk to her there, accept her quest, and her summoning sign will appear in the shore where you fought the Hydra. EDIT: You can get to the floor beneath the sewer that leads to Undead Burg without jumping if you walk from the ledge to the left of the staircase too. Don't ask me why but I had more consistent results droping from the left than from the right.
@@DireBowser You don't need to go to Oolacile, If you read the comment it says how to get to Dusk. She will sell the spell in Dark Root Basin as well as her catalyst.
Imma leave this comment as I start watching it and predict a problem with the swinging axes in Sens Fortress. In case you get past them, the jump/fall onto the balcony in Anor Londo could also be a challenge. That is of course if an over encumbered character can even climb ladders. In that case your hollow ahh char might be stuck in his prison cell block. EDIT: Gotcha!
Can you beat dark souls while thicc? lol. But really though, I bet sorceries and ranged will be important here. No one wants to try to fat roll in melee if they can avoid it. Edit: oh wait, over encumbered means even past fat rolling and you just do nothing.

I think you spent more time walking towards the bosses than actually attacking them.
Poison arrows to kill the archers, my go to strat
2:00 Could this be the promised walk of peace?
With all the enemies approaching him to get halberded, it's perhaps even the tranquil walk of death spoken of in legend
The slow walk was therapeutic for some reason.
Very impressive. Your patience and tenacity is amazing

You need the lordvessel to access Oolacile to begin with. So you'd need to pass the archers without it anyway.

This was a great video! :) I enjoyed it, I might try an overencumbered challenge run myself :)
This guy makes good vids
Another challenge runner. Excellent
Is that smth bad or a genuine "Excellent"?
both but it is extremely oversaturated now. Same when pokemon videos got burnt out
awesome video! deserves more recognition
You should be able to even fat roll to get back to the Undead Asylum, though it's been a while since I tested it
This video makes me feel like a looser for dying under normal circumstances with a normal build.
I checked the wiki and the word they used is “overburdened”
2:43.
Got enough souls?

Pike charge or butcher knife R2 can get you through sens fortress 4 traps
I hope you pay your therapist well 😅

This is THE most awful challenge run I've ever seen .
