Is an electrical technician and an electrician the same? If not, which do you think is better?

They’re not the same. Electrical technician is more programming and troubleshooting plcs. Electricians also troubleshoot with plcs but they’re more hands on

For an experienced do it all tech you’re looking at 80k-100k for in house tech, meaning working at the same site everyday. A field technician is about the same wage, not sure how good the OT for in house techs but field techs average 50% more than their projected take home pay.

In our foundry every electrician works his/her way to a journeyman electrician. Top pay $23 hrs. Some get their journeyman card and can't fix PLCs, robotic equipment or equipment that's been there 20 years. Pay is the same for all so the lazy unmotivated electricians say can't fix it. That leaves the work to the motivated one's. ONE WORD..MANAGEMENT.

I'm not an electrician, I'm an Electromechanical tech, I did not do an apprenticeship, and I make more than $23/h. Unions suck , that is the truth. They keep on paying lip service to math and physics but their level of math and physics is elementary school.
