I appreciate Mr Carpenter's honesty and no bullshit approach to life and that comes across in his movies, particularly the thing is a great example that movie is almost too realistic and was probably a big part of why it was critically panned, its too effective and does not let up, it put the audience in a corner and just attacked them relentlessly on every level with very few tension release valve moments and no hope. Its the end of the world and its inevitable.

When he asked about video games based on his films I was surprised he didn't mention The Thing video game that was released back in the early 2000's. I think it was released as a sequel to Carpenter's 1982 film version so while it's not technically a video game version of the actual film...I still think it would have been worth mentioning.
It was even "endorsed" by Carpenter at the time, and was one of the better video game movie tie-in games we've gotten over the years. They tend to be ass, but games like Chronicles of Riddick and The Thing help break that rule occasionally, which is why I feel they deserve mention ;)
He even voiced one of the characters I think.
John doesn't mince words at all, and tells the truth whether people like it or not.'
I'm not going to say anything more than John Carpenter scared the shit out of me with Halloween back in the day. For that, I thank him.
It took a while but I think he warmed up to this interviewer. But I also think that he's very happy when these interviews are over...
Damn, this is more painful than watching John Ford interviewed by Bogdanovich. I feel a bit sorry for the interviewer, he didn't mean anything bad. He must have caught John in a wrong day.
Still love John...he's the best. I love his "I don't give a fuck" mentality. Hoping he'll make another classic.
13:41 "It's okay. Everything's great, everything's wonderful... Everything."
[except this interview]
Why is Kevin from V-Sauce bothering poor John Carpenter in his home?
I see a Man that has done Wonderful things, the "Right Way", and is over "Your" newbie, 2016 bullshit. Can't blame Him. Old School Baby, Old School....The BEST School. Things were better then.
This interview was a horror film.
It's not even horror, it's plain torture to watch.
Who thought it would be a good idea to make a hour of standard questions with Carpenter?
I want to die watching it
Hahaha omg😅
Crap interview with a classic director
lol well he's old and the so called interviewer is clueless
The interview gets better, keep at it.
I've made songs about Kubrick and Panos Comsmatos...I need to complete one for John. A very big influence on my musical development.
John's comment about "an old hooker" made me laugh.
This interviewer has the charisma and tone of an inexperienced pest controller, godspeed John Carpenter you lovable misanthrope!
Gosh I wonder if John is in Second Life = I would love to talk to him about Machinima :)
Poor John. This guy is painful. I made 24.33 minutes, but this guy is out of his league in every sense. Didn't really do his homework & has no idea what he's doing. You can see the pain in John's eyes over the stupid questions. His eyes roll like mine, to the point of eye strain. GAWD
Jesus, I hope this guy never interviews anyone again , poor John having to listen to the nonsense, he had awful questions to deal with , all hail the master that is John carpenter
according to his IMDB his early stopmotion movies were Godzilla related
I couldn’t finish this interview. Agonizing
Hands down the most uncomfortable interview of John Carpenter, or anyone else, in history.
They Live, Christine, Big trouble in little China, Halloween 1 & 2, The Ward, Escape from L.A and New York, Ghosts of Mars (which no one liked) etc. All my favorite!:)
if that thing about paying for a walk of fame star is true, who;d be up for a Kickstarter to get one?
I don't think Carpenter realizes that people love his "The Thig" movie. Can anyone tell him that this movie is great!
Legendary badass
1:58 god when he mentions his mom man this made things so awkward
A lot of wisdom in him
Some heroes wear no capes!
