As a person born in 1957, I remember the 1960's as the coolest, most wondrous, and most uninhibited decade ever. Space Odyssey 2001 captures the spirit of the time and the willingness of people like Kubrick to take incredible risks. There had not been any previous movie made like it - the movie still stands the test of time - a masterpiece.
All the music in the film 2001 is quite remarkable and a great credit to Kubrick is his ability to apply it to the visual element so successfully. The Ligeti vocals are highly imaginative and at the time quite a revelation, but perfect for backing the visuals. The Gayane Suite music was another brilliant choice and what an inspired choice to use the Blue Danube for the space ship docking - just amazing... and still is.
Yes, and it is in perfect condition, when I showed my friend (who is a vinyl fanatic) the record, he got so made because the case was in mint condition, no scratches on the record, and that I only got it for 25 cents. Later I got a rare copy of "The Return of The Jedi" with unaltered scenes (so no CGI).
I'm glad you shared the vinyl, because I wanted to hear the list as was put on the vinyl, like the album I still have, but, presently no turntable. :D .
The second track is by György Ligeti, a Hungarian contemporary classical composer. Kubrick used it for the monolith scenes. It is part of his piece Requiem for soprano and mezzo-soprano solo, mixed chorus and orchestra, written in 1963. I first heard it when I was 9 and have never forgotten it. It is an awe inspiring and terrifying piece. I have no idea how you would score that! There are also two other pieces by him, Atmospheres, which was used in the movie for the moon shuttle sequence, and on the second side is Lux Aeterna, which was used for the space wormhole sequence.
Would you like to hear the full version of "Requiem for Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, 2 Mixed Choirs and Orchestra" ? its 30 minutes long and is not what you think. I also have this soundtrack on 8-track tape.
yes it's the full film in color and scope it also has the entrance music intermission and exit music (extended Blue Danube) after the credits are over mounted on 4 1600 foot reels I also have Mr Kubricks other Masterpiece "A clock work orange" seeing these on film the way they were meant to be seen video can't even come close
I have this version from the 60's which sounds great and a really crappy reprint made in the late eighties to early 90's with a muffled inferior quality.
I never understood vinyl UA-cam videos. All the benefits of vinyl come from it being analogue which it ceases to be once converted into a digital video so this isn't even as good as CD audio. Plus, it has vinyl's static interference, but some like that though.

You are correct, sir. Anyone who uses a UA-cam video to demonstrate audiophile sound quality is self-deluded.
Where is Vinly P2?
UA-cam removed it :(
Anyway to reupload it? I have that part in my computer...
