The highest quality recording of a marching band that I have ever heard. Usually you have to be in the band practice room to hear that kind of balance and impact. Fantastic.
The HOrse was designed to meet every need for a marching band and open the door of a gold opportunity to become a better person in every area of their life
Wow long time memories Miller High school from corpus christi Texas played the Horse every touchdown they scored or a field goal this was my senior year 1977 best marching song to this day 😊😊😊
Since it took me forever to figure out what is actually spelled out during the chant, I'll share for anyone wondering. It goes: "T-H-E H-O-R-S-E"! Which makes sense, its the name of the song: The Horse.
The Horse in this version makes you think a thoroughbred horse is very lucky but in many cases make you begin to wonder but this song brings back life into you
This was my first year in my high school marching band and the horse Is definitely the most crazy and fun song we do. We slowly move during the beginning part to some random spot and then there’s this extended drum solo in the middle where people will go on each other’s shoulders and stuff like that. After the band comes back in they start to lie down on there backs while still playing. Definitely an amazing way to play this song.
We played this when I was in the HS Marching Band...1975-79!! We played it slower, much better drums......and the Trombones, Baritones and Tubas would blow your hat off lol. We had some of the best Trumpet players I've ever heard and, every one was a Maynard Ferguson fan, so you know they LOVED to scream those high notes! Our band of 200 won many National Awards. Fun times!
Me too! I graduated in 79 - the Jenkins High School Warriors, in Savannah, GA - we also performed lights out halftime shows that were amazing - flashlights attached to our ankles, and the majorettes twirling fire batons - it was so much fun.
Same here. 74-79. Seagoville High . It was much better when played at its original tempo. You could appreciate the tubas and baritone sax more. This old song has been chopped up through the years with bands adding and taking away from it.
I’ve heard of this song since I was a freshman (I’m a junior now) and I’ve never been in marching band, but I didn’t know this melody was the infamous song everyone always wanted to play until yesterday
We play this tune for our games during pregame, our band is much smaller but the sound is almost the same. (I’m in the colour guard and our routine for this is quite simple but hard at the same time XD)
The Horse is a favorite their football team favorite song which gets them fired up to do better than what they know how true this song brings them to your side
Sounds great looks great! Now here is just my opinion, so please don't take offense: it felt rushed, needs to be a little slower. Also I couldn't hear any tenor drums part (expecially during the drum break), did they tamper with the piece? Or maybe they don't have a tenor drum section?
Robert Spratlin Well then if they like that arrangement, then so be it. I said this was my personal opinion- and my personal opinion might be biased due to other arrangements.
They're playing it at around 170 bpm, witch is pretty fast for this song, my school plays it at around 150bpm, still fast but much slower than how they're playing it.
Trust me, if this was a black band, the percussion would be in the front while the brass section would be in the back! Plus the sound would be smoking and not choking!

NackDSP umm , Aumb?
NackDSP The best band in the land....UW!
Nostalgic Memories playing this tune in High School!...
Me too. This is such a great song to play with a full band.
wish it had been around when i was in school
As an athlete, I loved hearing it from the stands!
jennifur sun It’s been around since the early 70’s, cuz we played it then!
Same
My high school mascot was the Mustangs, therefore we played this in between quarters at every football game. We loved playing it.
as you're listening to hear this brings back when this during football season &awesome trumpet section
Playing this song at football games gives me life. I smile the entire length of the song. It’s just so good.
My favorite song the band played at high school football games!❤️
Nothing like a good marching band. This one was AWESOME
The HOrse was designed to meet every need for a marching band and open the door of a gold opportunity to become a better person in every area of their life
Kudos to the guys doing the lifts, and kudos also to the gals getting lifted for maintaining their posture (and their nerve) doing this over concrete!
As an ex-drummer for the University Of Arkansas 1973 to 77, this brings back a lot of great memories.
Wow long time memories Miller High school from corpus christi Texas played the Horse every touchdown they scored or a field goal this was my senior year 1977 best marching song to this day 😊😊😊
I would be scared to have all those slides going flying over my head
Well I'm a trombone I didn't hit anyone eith my slide so I'm good
Brings me memories of high school football games in the 70s 🧓 thanks for playing ths song.❤️ and more😊
A GREAT INSPIRING SONG for any football game. We played it in high school band in the 1970's . It's still great today!
one bad thing about this version you can't hear the drums and they make the song for me, if you hear the orginal version by Cliff Nobel
they should have got into an ampathere (sic) to get a better sound
Ikr
The Horse with a strong instrumental brings out the good in you that will last a lifetime forevermore

Meg McDonald was one of the greatest cheerleaders ever! She was the definition of what a cheerleader should be.
About broke into tears watching this.. memories of high school drum line
This band is awesome. I hear the perccusion in the background they sound gooooodddd I play this at my high school👏👏👏👏👏👏❣
Love the Horse, Fantastic sound !
The Horse in this version makes you think a thoroughbred horse is very lucky but in many cases make you begin to wonder but this song brings back life into you

This got me all up in my feels
Update: I have now graduated and am indeed still up in my feels

Baritone power. We blew those tuba's and trombones away!
Me too! I graduated in 79 - the Jenkins High School Warriors, in Savannah, GA - we also performed lights out halftime shows that were amazing - flashlights attached to our ankles, and the majorettes twirling fire batons - it was so much fun.

@@djdigital3806 I feel like us baritones always have a hard time explaining what instrument we play, but it's always so fun to see others.
Yes!!!!!
Wow! Amazing 💯 👏 a trip down memory lane 🥇🥇🥇🥇
Low Brass for life, just played last night with BAHS at the game and I instantly knew when we played this song.
My favorite song in High School Band. I used to be a very good Baritone Horn player, section leader. The Horse 🐴 1968.
This was my high schools fight song. Man I miss being in the band. (Drum line, pit section. And the saxophone.)
Those horn flashes in the sax section at the end are on point
I’ve heard of this song since I was a freshman (I’m a junior now) and I’ve never been in marching band, but I didn’t know this melody was the infamous song everyone always wanted to play until yesterday
Reminds me of my High School Daze Marching Band at LAHAINALUNA HIGH SCHOOL IN MAUI HAWAII - IMUA!!! Mahalo 4 posting.
Best band in College Sports.
Way to go on this 1968 classic
Cliff Nobles would be so proud !
Dude they sound so bad ass
Bruce High School had it in the bag back in the day.
I wish I played in a band this big [our entire high school band is 10 people]. This is so awesome
I can't think of any school band that didn't play this at their football games. I sure did and with fancy foot work too!!
We played this constantly. Our mascot was a Bronco
Go fight win team you the best we've seen in a long time and you can make up the difference Lord.
We play this tune for our games during pregame, our band is much smaller but the sound is almost the same. (I’m in the colour guard and our routine for this is quite simple but hard at the same time XD)
Thank you. Apalachee Strong!!
The Horse is a favorite their football team favorite song which gets them fired up to do better than what they know how true this song brings them to your side
Love it albeit rushed.
Richie Siegel no thats how the normal tempo for the song is
No just a competent band that can rock it.
U are right.. the tonguing is very sloppy and rushed . But sound quality of band is nice .
My high school plays the hey song alot and the horse about three times every game
Did we ALL go to that High School?
#yup
Fun fact: my ex next door neighbor was the producer of this song and we just found out today. Philadelphia legend Jesse James.
Back when the Santa Monica Pier was a safe and wholesome place to visit! RECALL NEWSOM! Larry Elder for Gov!
Big Ten Football 🏈 marching bands are the best! Minnesota, Ohio State, Michigan State,
Michigan, Wisconsin have great bands.
We do this just that when you spell it out we instead drop out, the drums go crazy, and the trombones so suicides
We just played that in the street
Best song ever:D
I loved playing this on my piccolo, and watching the girls drill. Oh yeah good old days!!
Thats our song in sam rayburn high school
the horse was my favorite
This my high school fight song
The white stallion knows how to know when to canter and knows already are ready to ride the horse feels the wind blowing through his air
Chs on Oahu Hawaii is my high school and we ripped it on all of Wisconsins songs
my high school performed this song...go colts go!
same!
Sounds great looks great!
Now here is just my opinion, so please don't take offense: it felt rushed, needs to be a little slower. Also I couldn't hear any tenor drums part (expecially during the drum break), did they tamper with the piece? Or maybe they don't have a tenor drum section?
Yes I agree cuz my highschool band that I play in ( imma trumpet lol ) plays the horse way slower than that...
That is the correct tempo as arranged by Moffit (which this version sounds to be)
Robert Spratlin Well then if they like that arrangement, then so be it. I said this was my personal opinion- and my personal opinion might be biased due to other arrangements.
They're playing it at around 170 bpm, witch is pretty fast for this song, my school plays it at around 150bpm, still fast but much slower than how they're playing it.
Ultimategamer87 ayyeee sameee
Where's percussion????😳
Len vocaloid ded
In the back getting buried by the brass section which means they should have played louder
Giga Geck Hahaha
Hidden as is usual when you have a line that can play out
ZZZZactly.
Good song !
If this doesn't 'git yer noggin bobbin', then you've been dead for at least 50 years!
Whats up with the low brass part
Awesome!
That's perfect speed?
1:40
that was badass.
loved it
0:50
I like that second song they play I play it also
Huge ass Trombone section
Trust me, if this was a black band, the percussion would be in the front while the brass section would be in the back! Plus the sound would be smoking and not choking!
Creates in you a new song that derrives from t he start to the very ending of a new beginning
This is our fight song at J. M. Tate High School.
Si...
on Wisconsin
Watch (listen) how many D1 bands try the next few years
Its funny how people talk about the band instead of the the girls dancing
What are these cheerleaders doing now ? Did college pay off ?
Play it, people!
We got this song today, and I'm a trump, I enjoy it
Great performance but needs the percussion brought up. My memories of this in HS are of the drums just rocking that gym.
the horse is rushed and the hey song is a bit different than i play it
High School Band Member
Yeah I didn't like there hey song version, didn't spun right
I dont like the way they played both if the songs
Joshua Sweetman because most bands can’t play it that fast...lack of talent!
This and Green Onions.
john muir plays the same thingggg
Whats the second song?
It's generally called "The Hey Song"; the actual name is "Rock & Roll Part Two" by Gary Glitter (1972).
sounds strange without the guitars and louder drums the drums made the song for me
This is great audio for a 12 year old video
I am a Gator but if you want to see a Horse, look at the Ohio State Band on youtube
The blonde girl on the dance team up front was so confused on the hey song
The Flat-Out plain Truth : There Just is NO better Song out there - Ever. Great performance, but you really need that Souful Rhythm Guitar in there.
this is our school's theme song and I can't be more sick of it
That’s a shame, this is one my favorites
Those cheerleaders should take a look at some HBCU cheerleading.
0:11 1:57
When I hear this song it gives chills of a horrible day a girl cheated on me that and we got murdered
Tempo is a little fast...
The woodwinds being audible? What is this blasphemy?!
Japanese baseball kousien
takaokasyougyo rootes’song it music
very popular
Just like in the 9th grade....
My band teacher wrote this somg
Christi Busch no he didn’t lol
@Sandra McCall agree
not a very good trombone to tuba ratio.
