You know, it's funny. It's funny how the most underrated games are always the ones that turn out to be hidden gems. Makes you wonder why nobody except you know the existence of these games.
I used to have this game when I was growing up but sadly at that time I was barely in kindergarten so I had all my ps2 games scratched up 😂 thank god recently I bought this game again sealed brand new somebody from La
cuz marketing and failed-to-attract cover discs i mean i never knew how awesome persona 3 was or Raidou i begone to know it at 2012 i also just found out how good the story is the getaway series (ps2) are now we all can see the trailers and crabs from youtube
@EndOfTheNight drugs and murder aren't taken seriously by anyone because it's almost comedic there. on the contrary, vandalism and graffiti are influential and portrayed rather realistically. and there are no dystopian conspiracy theories in gta. in lesser words, gta isn't ideological
Out of all the games I’ve played this was the only game that influenced me to actually do something illegal lol. I was actually caught tagging these projects once and my mom chewed me out...
Started with a very controversial German insignia thanks to WAW zombies at the time and this game. I think I knew what I was doing I was 9 so I was getting up. I got chewed out as well though when they found out. Good game
Same, at 12 years old or so I was buying thick markers and doing “graffiti” on hidden places, school’s restrooms and even stairs from buildings, I was really into skating and drawing at the time as well, not to mention the cool oldest guys in school had graffiti crews of their own and it was actually a thing during that time, circa 2010 or so. Nowadays im 23 and it’s been many years since I cared about any of this, i don’t draw anymore even tho im still good, I only came to this video because i turn my ps2 every couple of years, and it kinda sucked playing this like I became a boring adult or something, even tho i completed this game like 10 times as a kid, either way those were the days for video games, it makes me comeback even 15 years after I bought this game.
A game that doesn’t bash graffiti, shows you both sides of the coin and it’s extremes, and politics...why the hell wasn’t this a show!! A movie!!!? Or why can’t we get this remade and more content added to this badass game!!??
Ecko unltd said there making a sequel (which was 2 years ago), its also on ps4's confirmed game list, idk when the 2nd is ever gonna come, rumours been around since the 1st came out in 2005 or 2006. There's been no word from ecko since early 2013, hopefully they didn't forget about their legendary game (even if won no awards). Just been waiting for 8 years for a sequel, hopefully more word may come tho soon. :(
David Fontenot if it does come out, hopefully its as good as the first one and not a sell out game. Hate when game idustries make good games and their next one is shit. Hopefully Marko ecko still has the same mind set for urban hiphop, and I hope both getting up 2 and mirrors edge 2 is open world and little more realistic.
David Fontenot I think Mirror Edge shouldn't have gotten a sequal. The first one was so good that I doubt they can top that themselves. If it's nearly as good, then it'll probably be too similar to the first one. Not that it is a bad thing, hey better graphics, new story etcetc, but I feel like it should have stayed as the legendary underrated game it is known as.
Unbelievably great cinematography! Such a unique style! So much thought and effort went into the composition of every single shot and the transitions between them! Truly a masterpiece!
These cinematics were so good i remember thats what kept me going and because there were so few of the i stfu and listening hard every time one came on, i didn’t know there was only 13 minutes in the whole game! They were so concise they expressed a lot of the story beats in such a small amount of time, this is why i find so much tv today to be unbearable it drags out what could be told in 1-2 scenes
it sucks that Steam version is very buggy and doesn't really capture the nostalgic feeling of playing this with a PS2 on a big fat tv in my living room.
ive beaten this game so many times. but. the day i understood its story completely.. i was in tears. u might have to be a graffiti writer to fully appreciate it. but it had me sobbing lol
Same here i remember replaying it as a kid thinking i’m misisng key dialogue, turns out i just didnt know what they meant by “manipulate the masses” and the leaders of entire countries being the most selfish and evil narcissists of all of us who will do anything or step over anyone to get the power they want. I just liked the spray paint
played this as a kid and was fortunate to be bless with a adequate understanding enough for this game to lowkey make me a conspiracy theorist and get into all elements of hiphop with this being my real gateway to getting up myself. it made me come to tears too because as a kid stories like this weren't even told the way this game does absolute justice to make the storytelling powerful and for myself especially unforgettable. I love this game hands down.
I love this cinematic cutscenes. Happy birthday to Talib Kweli who voiced Trane. And rest in power, Brittany Murphy who voiced Karen Light, Charlie Murphy who voiced White Mike and Adam West who voiced Chief Hunt
I'm from Pittsburgh an we had a graffiti artist named MOOK he was known to hit places that were hard to get to this game always reminds me of him the police ended up finding out his identity from an anonymous note an he went on the run whenever his Grandma's house was raided where they found graffiti tools an sketches of his work wired how it's slightly similar but MOOK has a Wikipedia take a look an let me know what you think
Yo I just read the wiki. The guy ur talking about that tagged that bridge was 15-18 years old. That's nuts, but glad he only got fined. The other guy that stole his name for 2 years prison 30k fine and 5 years in rehab for his heroin and meth addiction, crazy! Interesting read, I'm from coastal Virginia, so we never see stuff like that
Quick Note: The drums at the final countdown to the New Years cutscene is sampled or very similar to the drums in the beginning of the song My People... Hold On by Eddie Kendricks. Makes sense considering Talib Kweli's involvement with the game. Just wanted to highlight that..
ЭПИЧНАЯ ИГРА!))))))) С 8 лет я играл в неё, до сих пор не разонравилась и является для меня лучшей игрой!)))) Может дать фору современным играм, уж поверьте.
People say that this game didn't get much hits bit it kinda did. Graffiti IS an attractive thing. It's just that the company Atari is one of those companies that don't make much profit. But it's a really good game.bi do graffiti myself
I think the way it's framed it's trying to imply that the roof he jumped to was just high enough, combined with the fact he pulled off Gavin Free's "Run Down a Mountain" theory on that little slope behind him at 11:18.
Almightyy Jon I don't think the fall on the intro is canonical, it's just there as a metaphorical scene. The one in the ending is the one that's canon, he jumped from the blimp at the right moment, right when the blimp was overflying right above a building (a building that just so happens to be the tallest building in the entire city) reducing the distance of his fall to a few meters, on top of that he fell on some ventilation conducts on the roof, making his fall even less painful since he didn't took the impact of the fall on concrete (this would also explain why he didn't even broke a bone). I guess you could say his survival was thanks to a series of lucky events, ridiculously lucky events. The real question would be: how the hell did he got down from that building fast enough to meet up with Tina on the streets before the new year's eve countdown ended?
this is really late but I don’t think he did make it to the streets and that was instead a hallucination that Tina had, which explains how he disappeared right after
ngl, i think trane actually went and died as a somewhat ‘martyr’. He did what he had to do, showed the people the true colours of Sung and in turn, instead of turning himself in, he went and jumped off the building and killed himself. Probably not the case but still, jus a theory.
Getting up, Def jam ffny, Nfs MW and underground 2 broooooo 😭 I'm 2001 Gen Z and I grew up with these games and before the brick phone 😂 take me back to early 2000s please

The Wandering Boxer cuz rockstar got the game industry in a vice grip 😣🤦🏾♂️
*Lowkey, even then, all a lot of people knew was GTA*
So true about R* they are amazing dev’s no doubt but they’d never do a game like this and that sucks

Лучшая игра человечества.
Жаль, что нет продолжения :(
9:14 I always loved that part.
Whether it's Decoys soul leaving, Tranes heart being broken, his rage culminating...It's one of the best things to see
Yeah me too man i think its just a visually arresting way to show you Decoy dies but whatever it is its stunning
Goosebumps for that scene..
Love this game. How time flies by, i was in my early teens when it came out in 2006 now in 2024 im in my early 30s. This game brings so many memories.
Out of all the games I’ve played this was the only game that influenced me to actually do something illegal lol. I was actually caught tagging these projects once and my mom chewed me out...
Same and it got me into music

I would love a remastered version.
I love this game the need to remastered on xobx one cuz I have this game on the old xbox I miss so much
I am convinced that most of the budget for this game went into the cutscenes, the music and the voice actors. The cutscenes were ahead of their time.
