Wooo I’m a barber and FINALLY were able to do this service again post COVID! So I’m watching as a refresher, since I haven’t held a razor to anyone’s face in going on a whole year!

I dig the video cuz it gives a real look at shaves and the environment . everyone’s complaining about the background noise but in a real shop it’s never silent! Granted it’s a video but nonetheless it’s still a great shave given by a great barber.
I love when the camera is shown in the reflection, then you realize the video is being filmed by Greg Berzinsky!!

What a luxurious treat. A barber can get at your face at the perfect angle with both hands in positions I could never contort into working on my own face. Now it's time for a shoe shine.

Compliments to the barber for his excellent shave and thanks to the customer for volunteering to have the shave documented. The videography is outstanding, so kudos to the cinematographer!
At the ripe age of 72, I decided to pick up a straight razor and endeavored to shave myself for the first time with one.
Suffice it to say this barber showed outstanding methodology with the hot towels, pre-shave preparation and all the other many nuances. I guess you could say my experience on myself was trial by blood.
Nicked myself at least 4 maybe 5 times. And my shave was poor at best.
Compliments to the barber on his fine beard. Most impressive, that. I have to wonder though, given my limited viewings of such shaves, most of my samples of watching these shavings, the barbers all have sported impressive beards. So, it leaves me wondering, is there a reason for avoiding the act of shaving oneself for this and other talented barbers who demonstrate their shaving prowess shaving others?

Once my 'wounds' have healed up, I'll try to apply what the gentleman teaches and see if I can make any improvements. Before safety razors and other 'improvements' our forefathers used straight ones.
Also, I figure using a regular straight razor without replaceable blades and using a strop and learning to hone might actually be better environmentally. I mean I wonder how many tons of discards end up in landfills everywhere worldwide. Granted my use of a regular straight razor might not have much of an impact on our local landfill, but it would be a step forward and one less disposal. But then, if I cease and desist from using the thing, I know it, too, will likely end up in the landfill, too. So, maybe my obsessions with the matter are all for naught.
Nicely done! Recognize Feather Artist Club razor and Feather Pro blades, pinnacle of shaving gear! Barber had Proraso soaps on display but not sure what he used for the shave. Contrary to other comments, his lather wad perfect! Excellent prep with repeated hot towels plus oil. Standard shave fee of $25 was fully earned!
There are some excellent tips in this video. I’m currently in barber school, just a few months left. I feel like I’m missing a lot of pieces to the puzzle at times. This video really filled in a lot of answers to questions I had. Keep up the good work.

Very informative and very easy to comprehend, as I am a novice. This video will help me alot to tame my brother's facial hair, whom, is within my care. It was a very relaxing video as well. However, minus the background noise it would have been perfect. 🙂

Totally agree with @Jack Burnley. The Stylist next to them is really killing the experience. I would have a separate area for shaving. The experiencing what you're paying for is not to listen to the conversation next to them.If you notice the client is irritated. He expecting a relaxing experience. I wouldn't come to this barber shop. Shop management take notice. From this video I wouldn't come there for a shave.
I’m glad he’s using a brush, from what I’ve seen most people don’t anymore because they are strict with things like that. I would recommend using A synthetic rather than a silver tip badger since they are easier to clean

Idk why so many people ask for no background noise. This is the culture of a barbershop. There’s always conversation and community going on. Real world barber shops can’t stop their business just to pander to asmr UA-cam viewers.
If somebody came to our shop and asked to film, but needed us to stop the rest of our business for the filming. We’d turn that down for sure.
I see this as more of a tutorial for how to shave, and make it a relaxing experience for the client. Not a asmr video
Learned so much more in this video than in other ways. I think this is turning into a lost art and really appreciate the tutorial. Would be interested in a video that goes a little more into detail - like ways to hold the razor comfortably or just the grips. I previously asked that question and the person told me that everyone is different so hold it how you feel comfortable. I didn’t really care for that answer. Also would be interested in how to get those hard parts, like the upper lip and around the corners of the mouth. Also, how do you get a closer shave, how do you get the skin super tight without having the client have to puff out their cheeks, etc. I wanted to say thanks for the detailed explanations. I really enjoyed your video and subscribed so I can watch more in the future.

I don't mind background chit-chat when it's a haircut, but it's kinda annoying when it's shaving lol, good looking fella with or without a beard.
Thanks so much for the demo. I learnt a heck of a lot. The dude in the background... I sure hope his wife/hubby thinks he’s just magic. I mean, he seems like extreme dullness. But, back to the tutorial - so helpful.

My dad told me they used to do this at barber shops they used steamed towels to soften your skin and make it a close shave.
Nice video cant help but looking at the guy in the background haircut transformation though. The background noise is amplified with the mic they are using though, had he used a lavalier microphone wouldn't have sounded as bad. If i had the money i would definitely have this type of shave 3 times a week, would be a nice to have in my daily routine. The guy definitely looks better shaved, just needs his haircut tidied up more regularly as well

I have some questions. How long do you leave the hot towels on his face? Approximately how long should this take? Aside from it being less irritating is there another reason that you dont go against the hair? Wouldn't that be a closer shave? Also, can you please tell me what razor you're using?

Going against the hair will give you so much irritation and razor burn and razor bumps. And you're more likely to nic them bc it's difficult.

Do you use the same lather brush on everyone? Is that allowed by State Board. Not in CA. I like the cream shave you use instead of the lather machine. How many hot towels do you use for a shave. I’m learning all over again. . Haven’t done a Shave since I left barber school.. Starting to now
You’re not supposed to start by the nose. section one is either the left or right cheek depending on the your dominant side

I agree with Fank234. The fact that there was background noise means that the establishment has many clientele. Many clientele means (to me) that they have a very good reputation. I would hesitate to patronize a barbershop with few customers. It's similar to going to a fancy restaurant with only one or two customers present.
This is all I wanted today when I went to the barber shop, but I got an electric razor and some trimmers to tear up my face and I left feeling like I had sun burn and a concussion

Hey man, how you do to use that blade? I mean here were I live it’s illegal use fixe blade on barbershop to avoid diseases like HIV and Hepatite, how you do to properly sanitize this fixe blades? Do you use that machines like the sterilizer?
How are you keeping that brush sanitized?
