I have a "one and done offshore kayak rod and reel set-up" which is almost identical to yours. It's my go to for everything. It is a Tsunami airwave elite braid ready 7' mh. Its light with a slightly softer tip than the trevalla mh with dbl footed K- guides paired with a Penn slammer3 4000 and 30# braid.
Thanks for the quick follow up vid! Do you use any conventional rigs offshore? I find myself curious but so far have not found anything that I can't do with my spinning tackle.
I used a set of Abu Garcia Revo Toro NaCL's for years while offshore in the kayaks. I enjoyed it but it isn't as user friendly for the clients. Spinning gear provides a ton of versatility.
I’m starting to get interested in offshore fishing since I work offshore and caught my first black fin. Also I know my kayak friends like to go offshore as well. It seems like this rod will catch majority of your offshore species? Is that right.
Do you prefer spinning over a conventional level wind when fishing offshore? I’ve been looking into different setups so your video is right on time! Do your legs get in the way of the spinning reel when fighting a larger fish?
I used a set of Abu Garcia Revo Toro NaCL's for years while offshore in the kayaks. I enjoyed it but it isn't as user friendly for the clients. It's a super low profile reel and is comparable to the Shimano Tranx. It's not the best option and you will run into issues that a spinning reel would avoid. A spinning reel won't get in the way and we don't use anything larger then a 5000.
Navarre Kayak Fishing | Florida Kayak Fishing Thanks! I’ve seen recommendations for Penn Jigmasters and 209/309s. They seem to be workhorses for drifting and trolling baits.

Sounds like a great setup. I’ve heard a ton of positives things about the Tsunami Airwaves.

Yes, sir. We use it for trolling and bottom fishing.

They are both durable but they are bulky and slow. I would lean towards something that picks up line faster. Just a thought!
Hi. Which Saragosa SW are you using over there?
5000
Great video
Is there a idea butt length for the rods?
From the kayak - shouldn’t go past your forearm in my opinion.
