The market for something fun,fast and entertaining for under 30 grand is MASSIVE! ( currently looking). You have everything from an I20N ( new) through to an M5 and every hot hatch from A45 AMG to Toyota GR Yaris. A 440i is a good shout but it’s in a big field of contenders for that accolade.
Just bought a 430d gran coupe for 10k. Plenty of power and fuel economy. Cant really justify paying almost double that for a 440i which will be twice on tax, twice on fuel and higher insurance costs.
@@DleguaL I'm gonna sell my F30 330D which I've had for 7 years and get an F80 M3 as I do very low miles now. The 30D engine is great, especially if you remap it. The main reason I'm looking to switch over to the M3 is the handling, it's like a go kart. Don't drive one, it will stay in your head 😜
Tom, which would you take - 440i or 435d as you seem to like them both and I'm finding it hard to pick one! I only do aroud 6000 miles a year, so looking for something that blends comfort (no thanks M3!) with good levels of power and a bit of fun! (had an S5 but damn thing never stopped buzzing and rattling inside, drove me mad!).
Great video as always, may I give you a suggestion of what might be interesting to add into the videos, try driving it with TC on and then TC off, same bit of road, like the one from one roundabout to the other with the tunnel.. would be interesting to see how it compares.

Would choose a 435D over the 440i in terms of best bang for buck. Rapid, reliable and super good mpg. Would’ve grabbed this had I known about the Grand Coupe 4 series but cannot complain with my 335D
@@apargentine7807 this is my third 3.0 L BMW diesel and none of them have had any problems. I service them at an independent specialist at the normal recommended intervals , apart from oil changes which I get them to do twice as frequently as required. Had a 530d, 640d and the 435d currently. None have ever needed any new parts except a new windscreen washer motor on the 640

Yeah when switching the modes there's the configure sub menu with drivetrain+chassis, drivetrain only or chassis only options. There's definitely a difference between the modes. Comfort is bouncy as anything but useful on long journeys.

I actually think this is one of the worst bang for buck cars right now. I was looking for this car until I realised a good spec with fairly low miles (60-70k) is around £20k! With that money, you could get a 17 plate Audi S5, Mercedes C43, Golf R Mk7.5, Audi S3 2017/18, A45 AMG, Cupra 300 and many more!!!
@97MrOmar Take one for a drive - I picked a 440i as it had more character & premium feel than the others but if I was going to get any of the others it would be C43 although I couldn't find any under £20k that looked good imo

As a 440i owner, I’d have to say best daily hands down for the price. Comfort, practicality and sportiness all-in-one.

Yeah I agree. The torque on that diesel is outrageous, plus it’s basically double the MPG of the 440i too, and the X Drive makes it infinitely usable
