00:04 Ari Aster
00:15 Alfred Hitchcock
00:31 Tim Burton
00:55 Paul Thomas Anderson
01:18 Greta Gerwig
01:48 Alejandro González Iñárritu
02:02 Jane Campion
02:34 Gullimero del Toro
02:50 Ridley Scott
03:14 Martin Scrosese
Notes: PTA was very Liquorice Pizzery, Alejandro was honestly just a budget revenant. Personally, Ridley Scott is my favourite. Scorsese says he 'doesn't have a style,' so that was fun. If you have any directors you'd still like me to do, let me know in the comments.

about me:
Hi, my name's Éowyn. I'm a filmmaker, editor & photographer from New Zealand.
In 2022 I solo traveled around France & Italy for three months, and spent a few months living out of a van in the South Island of New Zealand. Join me for some fun discussions / films around travel, introspection and I suppose what they call 'coming of age' (at any age). I hope you'll find some information or inspiration in them that is useful to you!
Thank you for being here :)

I love that you took the detail in Hitchcock's that the character smiles at something (or someone) out of shot, because Hitchcock's cinematography popularize the "mistery behind the camera" where spectators can't learn details that the characters can.
that's a lot of water..
At least the glass is transparent despite her not being Brad Pitt.
Yeah you're going to need a wee😂
Tarkovsky is a must do. Slow water waves inside the glass while dripping echoes in the background.
haha yep
The shot tracks her into the room then as she sits down it focuses on something random above her,
Or she stares at the glass for ten minutes and moves it telekineticly towards herself. @theguy4223
And it could be a 10 minutes long shot
@@ZuzannaWesolowskaOf course, water dripping slowly fades into hypnotic organ music.
Scorsese should have Ray Liotta's voiceover:
"There was nothing we could do. Éowyn was a made woman, and the glass wasn't. We had to sit down and take it. It was real Kiwi sh*t".
😂 these are spot on. I guess Ridley Scott's scene would require dropping the glass after drinking. but you didn't want to break the prop which is understandable 😅
You nailed Hitchcock. People usually just think of Psycho, but this was very reminiscent.
Thank you! I’ve watched most of his films
@@eowynaldridge I love To Catch a Thief myself...
Psycho was the first Hitchcock film I ever saw and I was surprised after watching more of his films. Psycho is an anomaly, not the standard, most of his work has a very different tone and pace. His insistence on sweeping scenes with elegant-sounding piano music is common
@@officialmonarchmusic The first I saw was Strangers on a Train! And my favourite is probably To Catch a Thief.
@@alexkunce2006Still have to see both of those. His movies can be hit or miss for me. Contrary to popular opinion, I actually really hated the first half of Notorious
The eyeball looking around thru the glass for burtons killed me for some reason😂
Gullimero del Toro?!
If there’s ever a part 3, I’d love to see Sam Raimi and Zack Snyder
think I might have to do a part 3!
Rachel Talalay and Andrzej Tarkowski 😀👍
@@eowynaldridge I'd like to suggest Alejandro Jodorowsky, Lars Von Trier, Frederico Felilni and Krzysztof Kieślowski
Mike Flanagan and Aaron Sorkin.
... and while you're at it: ingmar bergman, françois truffaut, david fincher... please?
I feel as if the music does most of the work, the shots themselves are just the cherry on the top.
yea the music is important
Scorsese one could have been like u filling the glass then when ur lips touch it, it goes pause and there goes the voiceover- "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a water taster"😂.. Amazing work anyway👍
Hahaha thanks
Including some f-bombs getting thrown in 😀
Michel bay: Lens flares, lens flares, lens flares.
Don’t forget LOTS and LOTS of explosions
Silly me: what's the difference between a JJ Abrams lense flare and a Michael Bay lens flare ?
@@hermask815Michael Bay: lense flare appear while the camera spin around the character standing up in front of explosions/American flag in slow mo.
Abrams:lense flare from any source of light on camera
My wishlist for part 3:
Steven Spielberg
George Lucas
James Cameron
Coen Brothers
JJ Abrams
Alfonso Cuaron
Darren Aronofsky
Luc Besson
Paul Verhoeven
Roland Emmerich
Not all of them have made good films or some havent made good films in a while, but they all definitely have a certain style to them. 😅
thanks for the list :)
George Lucas is an interesting one, because he has rules to his movies that he rarely ever breaks. He shoots his movies like documentaries, so the camera often stays in one spot, and only usually moves in a way that it would in a documentary, lots of wide shots and establishing shots as well. Very underrated style tbh
Thanks for add Alejandro González Iñárritu and Guillermo Del Toro, greetings from Mexico! I'm a new subscriber
That's just perfect! Such a great job! Wow!
Thank you so much!
it's so much better with color correction!!
i love these videos❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed
For Michael Bay:
*sip water*
WHAT IVE DOOOOOONE I FACE MYSELF
hella hydrated
Jim Jarmusch = Éowyn and someone else sitting at a table sipping water. Neither say a word for a solid minute, then Éowyn speaks. "Down on the Street" by the Stooges plays in the background.
I really appreciate this! Amazing…. Thank you!
nicely done , not just the camerawork, but you got the tone spot on too! some obvious ones if there's going to be a next part :
JJ Abrams with lot of lens flares lol and Zack Snyder with superslowmo and bnw
thank you for your kind words and the suggestions as well :)
U r super u composited each scene like u studied each director nice work
thank you!
True!
How about a Terry Gilliam one? With wide angle lenses and a outrageous costume
Now this deserves a Golden globe
1:18 "We have Lady Bird at home."
Next do James Wan
Ideas for Part 3
David Fincher
Coen brothers
Bong Joon-ho
Gaspar Noe
Nicolas Winding Refn
Michael Mann
Yorgos Lanthimos
Luca Guadagnino
Steven Spielberg
Spike Lee
oh gosh so many directors I love thanks for the suggestions!
I'd vote Robert Rodriguez.
George Lucas?
Part 4: Alejandro Jodorowsky
Splendid stuff
I’d love to watch a film by “Gullimero” Del Toro ! Never heard of him, seems like a talented filmmaker !
Please watch Pan's Labyrinth.
Wong Kar Wai please 😅
Sergio Leone with hyper close ups. Woody Allen with some goofiness.
Some lighting and static from Refn.
Godar’s montage.
Californian Dreaming.
The Scorsese scene should've had someone narrating it in the background 😂
You forgot to add Extreme Close Ups for Martin Scorsese
In Scorsese version must playing "Gimme shelter" by Rolling stones
That was absolutely awesome and on spot ❤️
Andrey Tarkovsky maybe? He's quite known for his water motif, would be interesting to see your interpretation 🙂
oh thank you definitely keen to do Tarkovsky
@@eowynaldridge
You did remind me about Tarkovsky's Mirror. There was a disappearing wet ring from a cup on the polished wooden table. And sounds of rain instead of music
I’m here after watching your first one and can’t with the film bros in your comments telling you what to do differently 😅 or assuming you didn’t make this and you’re just an actress. ‘KAY…
haha chur
I'd love to see Tony Scott in the next one
Dude, Riddley Scott. LOL 😀
For some reason, I like to imagine that the photo of the little girl that keeps getting shown depicts a dead family member of the lady who drinks the water, and that the water-drinking is some sort of metaphor… Eh, could be reading way too much into it.
Also, I like how your name is Éowyn, like the LOTR character.
haha thanks!
If there ever is a part 3, I myself would be really interested in seeing Terry Gilliam, Robert Rodriguez, and Gore Verbinski.
Also for the Ridley Scott one I was thinking you’d just have a cut lip which bled into the water like in Blade Runner lol.
Brilliant 🎉 still waiting for that Snyder cut tho..
Can you please make a video on the directing style of Satyajit Ray?
Bong Joon Ho- You drinking water occupies 1/2 of the shot while someone doing the other half is on the other.
Rod serling version:
*shot in front of the girl*
*zoom camera to girl's face while drinking water*
*starts narration*
David Lean: a single wide, wide WIDE shot. M. Night : Sip of water. Glass is set down. Hold. Glass is akcshually EMPTY!
Del toro didn't ring a bell to me, but I laughed really loud with Anderson and Iñárritu
Are you going to do a Tarkovsky one where you push the glass from the table just by looking at it ? :)
perfect idea thank you
Hello, what is the name of the musics at 0:56 and 3:33 please ?
Please do Francis Ford Coppola
We need Robert Eggers
Guillermo 😅
Michael Bay? The glass explodes!
❤
Tal vez Woody Allen y Sofía Coppola para la siguiente.
🎉
Master 🙏🗿
I wonder how you would do from the Antonioni perspective... 😊
I'd prefer to see the video first and then the name of director so zou could guess whose it is
1:49 LMAO
What about "Michael haneke"?😊
Part 4 :
Alejandro Jodorowsky,
Alex Garland,
George Miller,
Yorgos Lanthimos
0:31 Where's Johnny Depp?
Orson Welles?
M Night Shyamalan, Zhang Yimou
Can anyone name the song in 0:57?
I would appreciate more cuts, directors included in this video didn't have that much, but their cinematography says different.
la de tim burton es algo que haría guillermo del toro
I love how people sleep over Peter Jackson 😊
What about Alfonso Cuarón or Woody Allen?
Part 3 I guess
What about David Fincher? Darren Aronofsky?
yeah need to do a part 3!
@@eowynaldridge I will be waiting. I hope it will be great
No Fincher?
Amazing video overall 😂
Which song's the one playing in the PTA sequence?
I want Almodovar
Do part 3 and include Vince Gilligan
Ahaha could do, so many more directors (Johnathan Glazer, Emerald Fennell, Yorgos Lanthimos, actually yea might need to
@@eowynaldridgeIt's because I'm a huge fan of the series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and Vince directed both series. I think his and his team's filming direction is incredible. If you haven't watched it, I recommend it. And you have talent and potential for creativity 😉
@@politicamenteincorreto5462Vince has a wonderful style, but he actually only directed a few episodes of both shows. He tends to have very symmetrical shots and frame the characters in a specific way, with an emphasis on wide shots and action scenes. His work on “Bagman” (the desert episode of BCS) is according to him, the hardest shoot he’s ever had to do. Sorry if it sounds like I’m rattling off but just some fun trivia
I keep hoping for Ken Russell.
Part 3!
Guillermo Del Toro, not "Gullimero"... 😂
oh thanks!
part 3 you could maybe do francis ford coppola
ooo definitely
Guillermo....GUILLERMO!!!!!!!!
2:34 Who the phuk is "GULLIMERO DEL TORO?!?
Please: Can you include George Miller and Peter Jackson for part 3?
Hoping for Michael Bay in pt. 3 🤞
Enough of this, you are talented, should try short films or something 👍🏼
Include linklater in the next one!!
Falto Francis Ford Coppola
Good Lord, could you imagine Dario Argento or Rob Zombie? 😅
Oof, and Wim Winders!
Or Tarkovsky!
(Okay I’ll stop lol)
It is Guillermo no Gullimero
I was a little disappointed that, in the Hitchcock one, I didn't catch a glimpse of an overweight Englishman.
Maybe with europeans directors?
Should have played Gimme Shelter over the Scorsese one.
Wong kar-wai will have the green yellow filter & shot with 1/16 shutter
Éric Rohmer will have a random bicycle in the background
For James Cameron, you're not drinking water, you're drowning in water
Mia Hansen-Løve will have the romantic voice over as you drink some water
Akira Kurosawa will have the dusty wind blowing
Werner Herzog will have a middle aged german dude screaming at the crew in the background
Jean-Luc Godard will have that weird jump cuts
Zack Snyder will have you drink some water with unnecessary slowmo shots
Julia Ducournau will have a random chopped off finger inside of the glass of water
Nicolas Winding Refn, you are Ryan Gosling
Sergei Eisenstein, it's just a montage of you drinking water
Chad Stahelski will have silhouette of you drinking water with huge screen in the background showing coloful & flashy images
Wachowski sisters, green filter
Hideaki Anno, you're depressed while drinking water and the world is ending
Krzystof Kieślowski, you're drinking water and you see someone throwing an empty bottle into a recycle bin
Francis Ford Coppola, dissolve transitions
I’m so sad I cannot be Ryan gosling, but thanks for the ideas :))
И эта тоже. Круто, просто круто.
Thank you!
What about Seth Rogen?
Oh I forgot about him, greatest director of all time
Hitchcock was waaaaaayyyyyyyy off! 😲😨 Am I missing something? 🤔
Woody Allen
Bong Joon Ho
Robert Zemeckis
Sam Mendes
Algún hispano😊
The Hitchcock one needs work. You have to move the camera.
Cuánto pipí hizo ?
Hitchcock was somewhat disappointing - I was expecting a long shot with a pan, and rapid cuts etc. Yours was more from the "Frenzy" Hitchcock era.
Hitchcock was known for his wide shots, but the music was on point. Reminded me of Rear Window
You don´t have a dolly to get closer and get away and do lateral pannings or complicated pannings so you can´t imitate the style of many directors including Hitchcock.
Chill, bro. She does a great job!
