I live in Hawaii and am not a hockey fan. I don't have a favorite team. I never watch hockey games. With saying that, my daughter and I are absolutely captivated by the Edmonton Oilers, the city of Edmonton, and the gravity of tomorrow's game. We have been rooting hard the Oilers and yell the chants with the crowd. We were chanting: "Sergei", "Let's go Oilers", and "We want the cup". My gut tells me we are 2 out of several million sports fans who don't follow hockey but are now cheering for the Oilers.
What a ride! It's been a privilege to be a fan and I can't believe how lucky I am to watch this team game after game with the super stars they have. So proud of the team and hope we can close out with a win. See you tomorrow night for the last post-game podcast of the season.
Well gents...it's finally here. Thank you for all the videos this season. I deal with combat-type PTSD, so I literally cannot watch sports anymore. Stress and anxiety are very bad for me. So thank you so much. Your in-depth game recap videos are appreciated more than you could possibly realize.. As a kid who moved to St Albert in 1979, at age 9, I have grown up with this team. This is the greatest post-season I have ever experienced. With all my heart, I hope to see Captain Connor lifting that cup tonight. Go Oil!!!
Born and raised Edmontonian, living lower mainland BC. My kids and i get so jacked up when we see another vehicle with oiler flags. Then its dueling horn honks till we pass. Getting lots of love for the oilers out here. WHAT A SEASON, GO OILERS GO!!!
I’m going to thank you three wise men before the game and all weeping begins. Listening to your podcast has been the greatest enjoyment for me. I watch the highlights and playoff games, and listen to your story-lines and analysis. It is rich and you do a brilliant job. Enjoy the game! Regarding it: I love the poise and wisdom that Knoblauch and the players exude. I think McDavid will take the bull by the horns and all talent will step up for a win, and as Ekholm said: somebody will win and somebody will lose and tomorrow will be another day.
Im a hockey fan since the early 80's and became a fan of the Oilers in the late 80's when we got cable TV. Not only the Oilers also the Red Wings because of the way they were playing. Its a coincidence that the 2 best german players play in these teams. I've seen the Oilers in December vs the Devils and i was mesmerized by that team. If there is a hockey god, it has to be the Oilers winning the cup, cause of the efford and patience they are putting in. I hope Leon scores tonight like Uwe Krupp did in 96 for the Avalanche. Good luck for u all. Let's go Oilers!!! Greetings from Cologne, Germany
I don’t like this comeback being described as a choke job. It takes away from the achievements of a supremely resilient Oilers team that refuses to be denied! I don’t know who is gonna win a winner take all game, anything can happen. But I do know that this is the very team I’d have play it!
The Oilers have the recipe !!! They know exactly what they've gotta do to beat Florida !!! Just like the Oilers of the 80's it's speed, speed and more speed !!! No one has hit the Panthers with such a powerful offensive onslaught as have the Oilers !!! Let's go Oilers !!!
I said 4 years ago "I consider Ken Holland the best Oiler management hire since Muckler in 81". I think I was right about that. Holland should win Gm of the year, Knob should win Coach of the year, and McDavid should win MVP. I also said Oilers in 6 or 7 before the series started. I think I will be right about that too.)
Honestly, I don't like this "Jeff Jackson wanting his own guy" thing. I think Holland has earned the right to stay on as GM with the Oilers if he wants.
This is indeed a great time to be alive. It’s fascinating to see the whole city, even the whole country, pulling for the Oil. I’ve enjoyed watching some of the UA-cam videos and podcasts, from around Canada and the U.S. I’m not as emotionally invested as I was in the 80’s and the thing that gives me confidence is that we’ve seen the Oilers play some spectacular hockey. Whereas most of the other, newly arrived fans, are just seeing Connor & the gang, for the first time, through new eyes. I agree with your final assessment about managing the emotions and I’m hoping that’s where Psychologist George Mumford, comes in to play, as our secret weapon.
Born in Edmonton, I live in Munich and today is absolutely HUGE!! Im supposed to be working but I cant think straight. Ive been married to the oilers since their first stanley cup series against the Billy Smith Islanders. We moved to Calgary and I would dare to wear my oiler 'Kurri' jersey at high school after big wins against the flames. But sometime I would take my lumps too, I also wore it the miserable day after the Steve Smith own goal in game 7. Im a fan. Im a super fan! I love this team! And I also love you guys at the Cult of Hockey. Regardless of wins or losses your fellas dedication to your craft always brightens my day. I wish all of us at TCOH the best of luck tonight!
Well, let's hope they win, shorter trip down to to Köln than to Canada to see the cup. Sure Leon will bring it to town for a day this summer if we win.
Very saddened to hear about Tom Barrett. Best wishes to him and his family from me and Cindy, who used to work with Tom at the Journal in the early 80s. I worked 6 years in the photo dept. and Tom's desk was just outside our door. We have fond memories of his enthusiasm and excitement while we watched Oiler games in the newsroom, also his sense of humor, and endless energy. We're thinking of Tom during tonight's game seven.
Panthers 🐆 GM Bill Zeto sure looked Friday night like one of the Supervillains 🦹♂️ that battle vs 🦇 Batman in the comicbooks/ movies 🎥 !!! He was giving Oilers fans that “Death Stare” @ the end of Friday night’s game!
I mention this only because he was one of my favorite players on the team since he was drafted in 2017, but I do think what Kailer Yamamoto is feeling right now. I know he was disappointed in what happened, and was obviously not going to take a lesser amount to re-sign, but it's unfortunate in a way he is not with them on this ride.
I trust the Oil coaching staff have thought through all possible modifications the Panthers might make to their systems play, and have counter strategies ready to implement if necessary. One possible strategy for Maurice, is to open early with a 5-man forecheck and try to get the lead. That would mean leaving the high Oiler all alone, but doubling down on getting turnovers in the Oiler zone. Countermeasure: Oil have to be aware of who's coming at them, and make sure to get those aerial passes quickly up high and out. The high forward has to come back and help as well, going only so high as the Oil blue line.
Gents... All the best to Tom and Family...😢😊❤ He will know this, as You Fellows do, and I... This Historic 2024 Stanley Cup Final DID NOT start on schedule... As noted previously, it started in period 3 of Game 3... Nobody ever said this years Oilers Team started on time... But.... Better late than never!!! Bring it On Home Oil!!
the shitty ice scares me because the last game in florida it seemed horrible for the first period especially for some reason it appeared to get better the last two periods
Man the shitty Ice scares me too. Will slow down the oilers speed, make the puck bounce and bobble, and in a came like hockey where it's a game of inches and bounces, that ice is just terrifying.
tbh i think this game should be thought of as the same for the oilers - if they lose, they are out and the Panthers win. its not the same as having a chance to win with another chance after that

That's awesome!

This might best the display of coaching we've ever seen

I'm in Victoria and see them here and there, the odd jersey too. Love it!

I believe in Connor Mcdavid he is gonna own this game because of who he is . Stellar player … but more importantly o stellar human being ❤
3-3 ? I'm glad 😊. Nothing better in sports than a game seven.
Playing on the last day of the season.
One more win to take it all.
All these podcasts over so many years. Comes down to this moment
Bring it home boys 🙏

Leon will go into this game and release all the pent-up energy. Like a shaken cola bottle that is suddenly opened.
Keep on cheering Edmonton fans! OILERS in7! Believe.
Great idea taking quotes fantastic! I agree two out of three games played the Oilers win twice. As we all know, the start will be critical I think.

I called oilers in 7. I had oilers/Florida in my playoff bracket
@@dwaynesbgb Right on Dwayne. I think we will be right lol.
Honestly, I don't like this "Jeff Jackson wanting his own guy" thing. I think Holland has earned the right to stay on as GM with the Oilers if he wants.
@@TH-tl6sy Ya I wouldn't even hesitate to sign him back if he was willing.
Kurt, hello from Galiano Island. I'm one of the only Oilers fans here, but flying the flag high.
I was at the hummingbird for the BoA series couple years back.
@@budstik Same!

"Win tomorrow. Walk together forever."
Tom is in good hands David. I used to be a nurse on the unit he is on. God Bless.
There's no way Connor McDavid goes home without the Stanley Cup in his possession. GO OILERS from NYC USA!!!

His water bottle throw always gets a huge laugh from my 9yr old son.
It was never in doubt the Greatness. They will overcome it all.

Small, weak, and slow. It was a wasted 1st rounder unfortunately. Never draft shrimps.
Ouch. So harsh. Poor Kailer
Good to see you !
Thank you guys. Everyone! Wow. Let’s go oil. It’s about to happen. They look great
bruce you are right that 87 flyers team would not quit i remember a murray craven goal in game 7 specifically for some reason

Lets gooooo! Mcdavid will win it tomorrow with 3 pts
Or make it 5 pts.
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LET'S GO OILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stick to the process is the moto and it means each moment is important. So having said that LET'S GO Oilers!
Good 👍 health all.
Let's do this!
Let's Go Oilers!🇨🇦
We believe Dave you should
Coke problem? Did i hear that.
If the Oil pull this off, i want a Shania banner raised. She became Edmonton's girl and something happened!!
one other thing scares me major puckhandling mistakes i won't mention names but two of them are on defense
Mcdavid will be the MVP in game seven when the Oilers win the cup !!!!!
The Panthers cannot skate with the Oilers !!! In hockey speed kills !!! The Oilers are suffocating Florida's offense to death !!!
Game 7, Stanley cup? Don't get better.
tbh i think this game should be thought of as the same for the oilers - if they lose, they are out and the Panthers win. its not the same as having a chance to win with another chance after that
Tomorrow could be one of the best days of my life.... LETS GO OILERS!
kurt levins sounds like jordan pederson
Im with Bruce. Detached and fatalistic.
I'm no fan of Tkachuk, but if I could make a deal where he would win the Con Smythe and the Oilers would win the cup, I'd make that deal.
Gam 7 . no mater oiler win or loss . Mac David will have Con smite trophy .
we all know which two
First. So early theres no sound.
Goil
Geez guys how abt inject some adrenaline in them boomer veins. The oilers r one win away from the stanley cup for goodness sake. 😂
I think the calm and cool of Knoblauch and McDavid is spreading to the Edmonton media and beyond.
It's been easier, the last 3, when u score first. Let's continue with that plan.
