Hey @NorthridgeFix great job man! Definitely a subscriber here. Got my hands on a faulty 3070 myself, last week I've sent it for a second time in 6 months to the authorized repair department, since the first time "they did not found anything" I hope they fix it this time since it has been a nightmare for me, saving for 5 years to get it. I wish there was someone like you where I live. Huge props to you and wish all the best to you and your family, keep up the great work! Salute from the balkans

At least that was a pretty straightforward repair unlike what it could potentially have been such as replacing a part to find another failed part to another and so on given the circumstances of the damage, that could have been one very expensive thermal pad replacement that's for sure! Excellent repair job 👍

Those shrink-wrapped cables/harnesses are custom-made by hand. You can’t find the exact same one to buy anywhere. If you needed to replace the harness, you’d have to buy the connectors used, cut your own wires to the size and crimp/solder the connector to the harness, following the exact-same pinout and cable section. It takes a lot of time and potentially expensive crimping tools.
That's why you don't temper with the cable especially for this graphics card. Tape around the cable works perfect, effective, functional and risk free. In Business when dealing with customers devices, we always take the safe route and not the risky route that may lead to problems.

If the pads were accidentially connected when trying to clean it up, what was the point of measuring the resistance between the lanes? It would have been zero ohms anyway? What you should have done, was desoldering one of the bridges and THEN measure between lanes to see if they were interconnected.
