Following brief introductions by Dorothy Poppe and Dr. Fraser C. Henderson at the Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation, Dr. Kenneth Liu, neurovascular surgeon at Penn State, describes his unique approach to treating idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH).
Also called pseudotumor cerebri, Dr. Liu treats IIH using a method called intracranial venous stenting. Having shown some real success in some of his cases, Dr. Liu describes how and why stenting might work and for which patients.

Thank you for helping us in the IIH community!!! Your a hero!
I love that you mentioned the actual composition of the brains of people with connective tissue disorders. You claim that you're "not intelligent" ... I disagree... Lol... You bring up SEVERAL things I think about.
Thank you for your video.
I was recently diagnosed with IIH and have been to by neurologist ophthalmologis i am a candidate for a stent and am absolutely TERRIFIED when reading on how it goes it
15:25 What type of MRI is this, because it looks nothing like mine. And wish all neurosurgeons were like him, this was interesting ánd hilarious.
Today is my stent placement day i am looking forward to feeling better!!! Thank you for the breakdown of PTC.

23:20 says who cares? Then proceeds to talk about how rare this it is an astronauts tent to return from space with it. Well I'm currently laying supine from my brain angiogram. Waiting for Doc to discuss the next step since my angiogram showed veinous stenosis 😖 My daughter cares an if this veinous stenting becomes a successful available option for me my 12 year old daughter will get her mom back.
Jenn Gonzales you are taking this out of context. I wouldn’t want your review to discourage others from watching this extremely helpful, dedicated doctor.
@@JaneBaxterPhD I wasn't disrespectful simply stating I care and I also appreciate all the work anyone puts into this
