How much olives did u use? How much oil did it make?
I used about 1 litre of olives to make approx 70 ml.
If I leave them in the blender a bit longer and press/squeeze the final mashed olives better I get about 120ml of oil out of 1 litre of olives.
How long does it take for you to make 70 ml and 120 ml of olive oil?
@@sheeplvl1 Sorry for the delay - just noticed your message. I try to make at least 1000mls in a batch. If I use my $20 pitting machine, meat mincer and mini press, I could make a 1000mls of olive oil in an hour easily.
@@robbert4430 good on you,,,and where can we buy this pitting machine?
@@sheeplvl1 I have been doing this for years, 20-25lbs makes 32 oz of oil and do not use this method, it will take forever for very little. ua-cam.com/video/Tl4qyol84tc/v-deo.html
Never put hot water the best oil comes from cold pressed olives and pick the green ones for the best flavour
Three olive tree 🌲 in my house...and there growing olive,so I think tu make some olive oil because it's good for health...so thankyou for this video 😁👍
I'm learning something new everyday, b is good to feel self sufficient! Thank you for sharing this! ☺️
The background music brings me back to old YT tutorials
Thank you for posting this video
Its awesome
Nice vedeo
Awesome
Nice sound
Helpful tips.
This is amazing! I a currently undergoing a 7 day water fast at True North and we are being advised to cut all processed oil out of our diets when we finish our fasts, I am going to ask the doctors this am if olive oil made from this method would be good for me. I am a self taught medicine maker and have all this equipment in my home lab! This is very inspirational. Kudos.
21 fast better during daytime
This is great. I like the idea of adding a little warm water, rather than heating the mix.
Thanks.
@@robbert4430 Hello Rob, I thought I would look at a video to make home made olive oil. I just went out in the garden, and they are all gone. No seeds on the ground. Do you know what would eat them?
@@paulinesterry7810 Hopefully not some person/neighbour stealing them.
I have seen birds coming after the ripe olives on my trees lately.
I got 3 tons of olives sadly I wont have any hands left to get the oil my self lol
What is the seed you cracked,
🙌 great video
One of those hand held blender would be perfect for this.
Wow so much effort for so little oil… it makes sense when it’s expensive
Love it
That was so biblical. Wow! Awesome.
Noice!
the music was very important
What can you use the left over olives for ? Seams like a waste
Sorry for the delayed reply. I have heard of people using the pulp as fuel for fires and compost, but am unsure of the process of making it suitable such.
Compost boo
Even if you don’t compost people would happily buy it off of you
@@Kenyasterling Honestly, he should use it as fertilizer for plants.
Tapenade
Hi ....nice video
Please tell me what do u do with the left over olive juice and slurry ?
Have heard of people using the left over pulp for fuel of fires and for composting - unsure of the exact process to do this.
Unsure of uses for the juice..
1:58 umm chocolate pudding
Forgive me if it's already in the video. Do the olives have to be cured first before making olive oil?
No curing. Straight from the tree to washing and processed into oil.
@@robbert4430 Thank you so much! 👍 😁 Not to often someone gives a helpful reply. My olive tree looks like it's going to give me quite a few olives this year. I'm excited to turn them into oil.
What if the olives are very green can i still use them like that?
@@jazminflores3107It depends on the type of olive oil you want to obtain.
And for the record, the music is 🔥
You lie.
@@evice yes it is. Distracting..and too loud.
Dreadful disco music, totally muted it as the captions told me once i realised no talking. otherwise good vid
That's a LOT of work for a tiny bit of oil.
What do you do with the pulp and the left over juice afterwards?
Some make the left over into pomace oil, fuel blocks or agricultural compost.
I don't add water, I just use my food processor, then press the
the wut
Can I use this oil for making soap and how much it will last?
Sorry, haven't tried to make soap. Unsure which olive oil would work best and last the longest.
Where would you buy a quantity this large that weren’t canned/brined?
Best to ask some friends if they know anyone who has some trees in their yard or search within gumtree or Facebook marketplace.
Damn this shit damn similar to making dmt without certain properties of course
Can you cook and fried with the oil?
Olive oil has a low smoke point, so it shouldn't be used for cooking at high heat. Olive oil has strong flavour, so the flavour may come through in cooking.
You can use it for low to medium heat cooking.
Video is far too noisy try turning down you sound output when recording.
Can you link the pitter you use?
Originally I just used a meat hammer. But now use this device ($20-) purchased is Aust from iBuys - Classic Cherry Stoner/Stone Pip Remover CLA75033. Just haven't tried it on less ripe olives yet.
I think ill just go buy a bottle at coles 😆
Make sure it's not safflower oil being sold as olive oil.
If you spend a whole day on this how many litres can you extract? How many kilograms of olives would you need? Let me know. I can sponsor the glass bottles.
I will have to do some calculations.
To make higher volumes of olive oil would be best to use items similar to the in my other video ua-cam.com/video/wWFUXOts96M/v-deo.html
I also have a cheap pitting machine the speeds the process up.
I will make a video of the maximum volume I can made in a fixed period, eg per hour, etc.
5kg of olives should generally give approximately 1 litre of olive oil
@@dazzawazza3578 hey, so it's not too bad ratio then. 1/5 is pretty efficient.
I swear I'm gonna make that olive, I just have to find raw olives. Although it can be quite tricky in Poland. Cheers.
Hello brother i have two olive tree at my home and they have already some olive but still green should i wait to be brown or green is also ok?
Dunno where you live but I'd wait until November/December to harvest them
Depends a bit on the variety you have?
Can I get an olive tree here in Nigeria?
Gordon Ramsay would like a thousand orders of that. LOL
It's RAW
Can it use 1 hour? I need them very much
If you make a small volume, it does not take long. Then you can use as soon as finished.
where can i buy bulk raw olives? can you use oil cured olives?
You can find raw olives for sale on places such as Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace.
I have always got them free of charge, I just had to pick them.
You need to use raw olives, fresh off the tree for oil.
The seed inside the pit also has oil. maybe find a way to crush them.
Have tried a meat grinder, but the seeds busted it. Thinking of trying a bigger meat grinder or bigger mounted sink incinerator.
@@robbert4430 Well if you are going to actually buy something for it then buy the specific machine for that. I saw a video and they ran their olives pits and all through some sort of grinder and it did it no problem. I am sure if you look for it and that specific tast you will find something. depends how many times you plan to do this.
Sorry if I missed it, but do you throw away the pits and only blend the flesh of the olives?
Yes. Throw away the pits.
@@robbert4430 if I not mistaken the pit also has some oil. Is that correct?
@@argentosebastian Hi, check lower down in the comments 'so no pits' there was a comment regarding this. Just can't cut and paste it here for some reason.
@@robbert4430 yes, I saw it after I posted it. Thank.
Nice video. Were the olives brined or fresh?
Thanks. They were fresh, but stored in water for a day or two as I was originally unsure if I would brine or turn them into oil. They were also quite ripe as I wanted to use the oil for salad dressing and to mix with balsamic vinegar to dip bread in.
Can you do anything with this pulp that was left in the bottle?
I have heard of people using the pulp as fuel for a fire or composting. But a bit unsure of of the process to make it suitable.
Unsure of what you could do with the final left over fluid.
Great, thank you. I just thought that maybe you could use it in your kitchen to cook something with it :)
@@Man_In_Black_and_White I recall someone saying that they use it in bread?
Thank you. That's some thought
Hi guys. I attempted this today but a lot of the slug came through the cloth and not enough of the juice - any tips? More water?
You may need to run it through the cloth a couple of times or squeeze it through two layers of cloth depending on the cloth mesh size.
A little extra water shouldn't hurt, as the oil will float on top when it sits for a while at the end of the process.
Are your olives fresh, not pickled?
Rob Bert Thanks Rob. The olives were picked a couples of days ago from my parents in laws trees 👍🏼😊
I just did it yesterday and it's been sitting overnight. All i see is a thin beige film on top of the water. I used a blender to turn it into a paste and then heated it in a pan before I used a cheese cloth. Any ideas why no oil floated to the top and what is that beige film? The olives were picked off my olive tree. I'll admit parts of some of the olive appear to be dried up. I made 2 separate batches...1 batch has a thicker layer of that beige film than the other.
@@enufots4621 You shouldn't heat them in the pan.
Sounds like you may have cooked them?
Pick the olives at right time and process them quickly. Also made sure you have cleaned them well.
@@robbert4430 Thank you for your quick response. I didnt get to processing the olive until 2 or 3 days later. After taking out the pits, i rinsed them a few times. Hope I'm not rinsing the oils away. Okay, no heat next time. I still have plenty of olives I've already picked.
Where did you buy the olives?
Picked them myself from the tree.
What is the name of this seed ,and where can I get them
I'm here from the illegal olive oil video
@Orlito and Mommy no, this one
ua-cam.com/video/9oK6MBYGpb8/v-deo.html
Can you please tell me can I make olive oil by using canned olives
You mean the pickled ones?
You need fresh picked olives.
@@lauren-sq5cd yes the olives which is coming in jars or in brine solution
@@robbert4430 and if it is old one can I remove oil from it
@@farahakhankhan1366 unfortunately, those won't work.
So without pits?
Yes, I removed the pits early on in the process.
I thought pits are the most important part to make oil like sunflower, pumpikn oil..how is it possible that olive pit/seed is not important?
The classic methods of oil production leave the pits in, but some oil producers do pit the olives before processing. I have heard that pitting the olives before processing gives the oil a sweeter taste (my personal taste preference).
Also, my home equipment is not strong enough to process the pits effectively.
And, yes l believe there is some product in the pits. But as an amateur I am not fully aware of all the pros and cons of pits.
My oil is on the top but it has pulp on the top that doesn't want to separate
Gosh all that work for such a little amount, this is why it is so expensive to buy
One of my other videos I used a meat grinder, it made it much quicker. I now have a de-pitting machine that helps speed it up as well.
I wanna dry the water part and add it to granola bars
Can I use the olives to make oil if they are green and not purple?
Yes. Just pick them at the correct time for the specific variety you have.
Well done, but horrible to listen to that muzak...
What is the shelf life after cold pressing this oil.?
About 3 months once opened. Best stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
Olive oil is best fresh, and unlike wine, olive oil does not get better with age.
Is it dry olives?
Fresh picked from the tree.
That was alot of work for little oil
It sure is.. I now use a $20 pitting machine, a $50 meat grinder and $45 press which speeds it up heaps.
Did you stair it on the stove?
Not put on the stove.
Rob Bert so on what?
As per video process. The only heat I used was hot water (not boiling) to assist the extraction process of the olive oil.
Many people complete the cold press process - nil heat or warm water.
You only need to use the stove to sanitise any storage containers.
Is it safe to drink
Never tried. Not too keen to drink any oil myself.
Why not using the seeds ?
They are making oil!
My machines can't handle the seeds.
))) 10 hours of work for less than a half cup oil... Nah i.ll stick on buying extra virgin time so precious thanks for showing though p.s. using cold water is much better
Yep. Is a lot of work. There is lots of quicker ways, but it costs a lot more. I have got it a lot quicker by using a hand operated seed pitting machine and a meat grinder for the initial process.
I had to kill the volume here. That crap music is annoying and does not match up with the subject matter. Maybe some Sinatra would go better.
The most overused song ever. Why can’t people just make a video without this kind of music lmao just put on regular stuff
Agreed, just hard to find good no copyright stuff.
Honestly, I’d put no music, but extremely loud moaning sounds everytime the olives were squished
Austin Timmons I agree with you very annoying
Or put farting noises over the olives squishing. LoL
Just mute it?
Why, i mean why does everyone come up with this, highly, irritating tune. I mean it is just brain smashing. Thank you for not speaking so i could mute it
Where u brought the olive seeds u sale the olive oil in original plz give ur number mam
Just make the oil for myself. Don't sell it. Thanks.
That looks like a real pain.
Is a bit of work - good family activity when you stuck inside on a rainy day.
But home made is oh so good! I just had an Italian family member gift us some which led me here. I will be making my own very soon! I just made home made butter tonight which turned out excellent! This is my next step 🙂
It's like baking, if you enjoy it and the product is good, why not
I applaud the effort but this is nuts to hammer olives individually :). I put through a garbage disposal that is only used for this process and it pulverizes them perfectly like a mill would. Don't even bother if you don't have 15lbs of olives, I usually do it batches of 20-25lbs ( 1 5 gallon bucket) ua-cam.com/video/Tl4qyol84tc/v-deo.html
you then need to malax the olives and 0 need to add water. Pressing is the final stage. studio.ua-cam.com/users/videohJmmKemTRG8/edit
Thinking of using the same. Is it best to get a certain sized powered unit as a minimum?
@@robbert4430 I use a 1hp model and it does just fine. Before each use I pour boiling water and soap through with it running to clean it.
@@ronmantini8440 Thanks, will give it go.
What a friggin mess. The whole point to make an olive oil is cold pressing hot water in blenders make it hot it looks like the aftermath from a bad night in a bar
Does it really matter? It‘s a guide to make olive oil in a common kitchen not to make extra virgin olive oil to of the highest quality. If it looks like this for you after a night at a bar then you got bigger problems than a messy kitchen.
worst way to make olive oil
The lifetime I wasted watching them pour hot water into crushed olives. 🤦🏻♀️

i am absolutely disgusted. olives MUST be cold presssed!
I have done some cold pressing with proper machines, and am a big fan of cold pressing.
This vid was with simple equipment at home with olives on hand at the time and used on salads and dipping bread - it did come out very tasty.
