10.14.23 JC Leyendecker Peeling Apples Color Study Auction Highlight

On October 14th, 2023 Bruneau and Co Auctioneers presented the original illustration art collection of Carl Pugliese at auction.
This color study titled "Peeling Apples" is by American artist J.C. Leyendecker. An oil on canvas mounted on board, it depicts an old woman peeling apples for Thanksgiving with unfinished bowl and visible layout grid. "Peeling Apples" was painted for the Thanksgiving Saturday Evening Post Cover in 1925.
