Music, asthetics, all the little flavour text in the upgrade descriptions and (especially) in the rerolls :P, that’s why I love Pixeljam ever since Dino Run. It’s the small details that add up and through your imagination make a bunch of vauge shapes and pixels into worlds that feel… believable, from a lack of a better word.
Can’t wait for Dino Run 2 to come out in 2030!
This game has some pretty good potential.
But it mainly needs to clean up the readability of fonts. Maybe a bit less glow and/or bolder fonts
It has settings to turn down the gain and detail (which is the chaos around the letters). It also has a slew of "looks" that clean it up as well. I've changed everything there to make it more readable for me at least.
The glow is part of the old vector arcade look it just is a thing but a little less glow is in the settings I personally love it but that’s just me
Edit different color schemes help with that too
@@robinkesterlives Even if you keep gain and detail high, just switching the "style" to the "ultrafine" one makes everything really readable without sacrificing the aesthetics.
Adding galaga style enemies to a missle command base with roguelike elements is brilliant! I'd be terrible at this, entertaining to watch tho!
I love Missile Command, used to play it in the arcade as a kid and really liked that trackball control. The home conversions were generally good too, even the 2600 version was decent, and then we had some solid clones like Atlantis. I had to pick this up, it looks amazing.
Explosive impression of what great attention to details can flourish into. THIS IS SO COOL!
Missile command. Now that's a nostalgia game. Played that a ton when I was a kid on my Atari 2600 in two player mode with my dad. We actually managed to cycled the score on that game back to 0 a few times.
In the main menu there is a list of things that add progress to your upgrade bar, you can shape your gameplay around it if u you want.
I know there was a strat in the demo where you let your shield break early and get big juicy upgrade progress in the beginig for surviving a day witgout a shield
I never thought I’d say this but gorf and asteroids had a baby and now we have this :) pure gold I must get this :)
@6:55 Omg, that green snake enemy...... that's centipede style movement!
I have 7 hours played in this! Looking forward to future patches, I think this has great potential.
the attention to detail put into the cities is quite amazing
32:41 I think it's some kind of cyber salad fingers coming for your rusty spoons maybe?
Gotta protect your laser towers. They do a lot of work for you.
15:35 yea those teleporting ones are scary as fuck.
Line art/vector style graphics also reminds me of the old Vectrex game console.
Aaaaaaand ofcourse it's Neo Tokyo that's under attack. 😆
Isn't it always?
😉
It does look really fun! Wish the glow/bloom effect could be reduced or toggled on/off but otherwise it's pretty solid.
There are settings for all of that :D
@@robinkesterlives That's good to hear!
The game has an FAITH The Unholy Trinity vibe and i'm all for it.
I wonder if this was done with RayLib, it looks like a RayLib game, which is awesome to see.
Kinda wonder what Pixeljam's idea on Centipede would be after seeing this.
This same game. Centipede was coming down at 6:55 ! 😆
Very similar to playing in an ascelograph, it was called asteroid
i wish i could try so many games
Well, it seems to lack a bit of gameplay depth but the graphics are mesmerizing ! Makes me want to install Nidus again.
no way you said that about the graphics, you can like them or even love them but to say they are mesmerizing is VERY loose
I completely get what they're saying. The game's visuals are very captivating and flashy without hurting your eyes. I would even say someone could think a game has mesmerizing visuals without even thinking they're technically good. It is a different thing.
@@AllYourConcerns Haha, English ain’t my main language so maybe I don’t understand exactly what it means : I am saying that these are kind of hypnotic you know, with colors and shapes blending together. EDIT : Well I checked the definition and I think I am right. You should check Nidus to really see what I mean haha
mmmm colors
How is this on Steam Deck? Love smaller games that look like this on my OLED, Geometry Survivors is a good example, looks lovely.
broooo we need pyreneeeee
Eh not my thing tbh, also watching this gave me a headache and im seeing cloros floating wth 🤣
Sigh
