I end up there after work, so I'm in casual clothes and barefaced- no need for me to wear makeup to work-I walk into ulta or sephora (they are by each other here) and at both stores- i either get sideeyed or ignored totally or have to chase down someone to help me, even though it's a tuesday and the store is empty. so so annoying-- you can't tell who is going to be a big spender and who will buy nothing, based on how someone is dressed. i learned that the hard way from selling women's shoes. i also learned, be nice and offer great service to everyone, because, again, you can't tell who is going to be a big spender and who will buy nothing, based on how someone is dressed, or whether or not they already have makeup on

For some reason the way you're describing the MAC employee reminds me of the same exact attitude the eye doctor had when I went to get new glasses. She asked me what I needed them for, and I told her I need them for class and says some shit about "Can't you just sit in the front?" I said "No! Because I usually sit in the middle row plus having to look up at the projector screen would hurt my neck if I sat in the front. Sooo in the middle I have a good seat." and we sat there looking at each other for a good few seconds, and she says "Well, let's get you those glasses!".. then she's doing the test where you look through these lenses, and put your chin on the rest thingy. Well, she decides to ask me a question about which classes I'm taking, and I'm telling her and she rudely says "Can you stop talking so it can adjust to your eyes, so, we can get out of here" -______- I pulled my head back slowly and raised my eyebrow at her, and calmly said: "Don't ask me a question if you don't care what I have to say." and she got this kinda shook look on her face and was like "Okay. Just let it adjust to your eye's and we can move on the the chart on the wall." She didn't talk much after that. Most people probably let chicks like the MAC employee and eye doctor's funky attitudes slide, but I'm not the one. LOL I was ready to throw some putasos in the little ass room, and it's funny because I'm usually chill, but she was really trying me.
Good for you girl! I'm so passive in situations like that but the older I've gotten the more I speak up for myself. I consider myself a friendly perosn and can carry on a conversation with anyone so I hate when people are rude for no reason!

You know thinking about it I wanted to apply at MAC but my uncle that works in the perfume department near the MAC counter. He told said "NO U DONT WANT TO WORK FOR MAC. EVERYONE HATE IT AND END UP QUITTING". "Just go back to Clinique like before. Now it makes sense. However that consultant did wrong all on her own.
+Amy Hunter because if they are mac counters inside department stores like jcpennys, macys or nordstrom, the complaints are handled between management of that store if that makes any sense. i had a problem with a mac counter in nordstrom and i contacted both companies but some just contact the store since they store hires them :/
I'm not a subscriber but I've watched a few of her videos before and she always seems so cheerful & upbeat, whereas in this one you can really tell she's almost deflated, which really goes to show the whole thing really affected her. Such a horrible experience she had to go through!

You did a whole lot better than I would of. A few years ago my hubby gave me a couple hundred for my birthday, to go to MAC. Keep in mind I did not own MAC products, but always wanted some. The day I went I had just gotten a facial so I had no make up on. I got the same looks and could not get anyone to help. So I went to Sephora a few shops down. Of course the ladies in Sephora were very helpful. After leaving Sephora (with a very large bag) I want back into MAC and they gave me the same look up and down. Once they saw the bag from Sephora their whole attitude changed. I told them they did not deserve the comishion from my purchases and asked where was another MAC location. To this day I have never wanted to set foot in another MAC store. I have a friend who like to try new make up looks and used me as her test subject. I will not let her use MAC products on me. I know that seems a little extreme, but I can't support a product that treats people like that.

We moved our holiday sets and limited edition products. Things have changed. I can wear full makeup and dress up and they will not budge from behind the counters to offer to show me anything! I am their demographic even!. After having to scan products at Macy's with my iphone this year, and NO ONE showing me the holiday sets... I said I was heading to ULTA! I HATE when they miscolor me. I had a "representative artist" or something at a counter I went to, and he tried telling me I had pink undertones too. And I was like...... PUTA WHERE DOE? And so he put the color he thought was good on my face and oooooooh sh*t was a mess! How are you gonna be working as a makeup artists and not be able to tell the BASICS of pink and yellow? I feel you girl.
Honestly, I've never been inside MAC for this reason. I've only ordered online because I'd be so upset to get treated like that. I'd probably knock over a display just to get back at them 😂

Girl when I go to Mac and ask for my foundation the chicks are always like oh that's going to be to light on you I'm like no the last time I listened to them they gave me 2 shades darker I looked like an Umpa Lumpa I took that shit back! 😒
ikr, One Time I was at Mac and I asked for a foundation. I already knew which one I wanted and I told them. I'm pretty pale and they literally gave me a foundation 3 shades darker than my actual skin tone. I'm only 15 so it's a pretty big deal for me to buy Mac products. In the store they like made it look paler and when I got home and used it, It oxidised like hell.

A lot of these MAC girls judge you as soon as you walk in the door and assume you know nothing about makeup. So when it turns out you know your shit (and spend A LOT of money in MAC stores), they don't know what to do.

I had a bad experience too. I ended up leaving because loud as can be the mac employee laughingly said to her coworker "omg girl I can't do this ladies makeup, she so pale like casper done crawled up in my chair! Mac don't make the shade paper!" I was so humiliated because I'm so self conscious of how pale I am. Makeup is hard to find for me. I was going in to get my makeup done to celebrate being in remission and I was just so sad. I was going to buy everything that worked too, brushes included.

Sorry to hear you went through that. I used to get offended and for awhile stayed away from make up and perfume counters for that very reason. Later on, I became a store manager and I had to visit other stores just to see how they treated me. I walked in with shorts, sandals, an old top and no make up on. I got ignored and stared down, I even had people following me. I loved to see their faces when I ended up making a big purchase. It was part of our training to go an experienced other store’s costumer service. It sucked , but it showed me not to judge costumers based on appearance. It showed me that I have to make every costumer welcomed in my store so they want to spend their money with us and the most important part, I want them to keep coming back. Mac should train their sales people so they can make more $$$
Since MAC employees are supposed to be "professional makeup artists" meaning that they have a license.. I've heard way too many stories like this. FYI if you blew on a client, or a customer, or any palette of any sort while state inspectors were in the building, or a "secret shopper" was there, you would get your license snatched up so fast!!
+Yizela Murillo Lol.. it must differ from state to state but where I'm from once I completed cosmetology school including an online makeup academy, you are certified in makeup artistry yes, but once you take and pass a state board exam, you are a "licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist" it's not like a drivers license lol

Honestly I find the same thing when I venture into stores that sell makeup and wander around the beauty section, if I'm not wearing makeup I'm treated in a condescending way. If I'm in there with my face on the staff are as sweet as honey. The other difference is that if I'm in my makeup I'm only asked ONCE if I need help then Im left alone (which I like because I'm a quiet browser, I like to be slow and read everything and make up my mind when I'm ready). If not, I swear I get asked by every staff member in the store if I need help because I'm obviously lost and have no idea what I'm doing - cue eyeroll.

Drugstore, there's no one to judge you for buying it. You just won't have help, but it's cheap. I love Sephora the girls are nice and will help you out, and you can't get free samples. Ulta is ok, it's nice, But not to amazing.
+Random _ Chick 29 that's where I started lol, just stick to Sephora brand products and buy in increments so your bill won't end up over $500 in one trip. I bought concealer and liquid liner first, a few weeks later foundation and powder, later setting spray and a pallet, and so on... Every few weeks I'd spend like $50 so my dad wouldn't get pissed off and notice where his money was going.

If MAC has ANY amount of integrity, they will WANT to KNOW about this employee's horrific attitude, rude customer services and PATHETIC MUA practices!! I am serious....I hope you report her! It makes me so disgusted and mad that you were treated so terribly. The reality of the situation is that you are probably not the only customer she has treated this way. PLEASE.....send an email to MAC Corporate along with your video attached. I have been contemplating going to MAC to have my makeup done, but after hearing about your experience, I have no desire to it anymore! This reminds me of an experience I had at Ulta in 2016. I have hooded eyes and wanted tips on winged liners and they had Urban Decay/Ulta artist doing full beat. I got there and bonded with the first artist but she was working on another young lady. My artist came and long story short, took the darkest foundation in the collection and plastered it on my face. No attempts to match or anything. I explained that it’s too dark and doesn’t match my body. She rudely said, “it matches your neck”, and she had a home girl co-signing her mess! When she got to the liner, which my 10 year old nephew could’ve done better, I told her that I can’t see the wing when I smile, she then said... don’t smile!!! And again her partner in crime said the same thing. I got up off the chair and said, “we’re done”. This was a very disheartening experience with racial undertones (just like a very famous influencer spoke about throwing battery acid in a black girl’s face so she can finally match her foundation). The beauty industry can be so ugly!

Also, the funny part about those movies and your experience is that the whole point of going into a makeup or a clothing store is to get something that you don't have. If you go into a clothing store to buy nice clothes and you are wearing drab clothes, there's no reason for anyone to talk down to you because you're there to buy what they have and they are making money. The reason you are wearing drab clothes might be because you don't have nice clothes, and you're there to buy nice clothes to wear, and it's just the same with makeup.

The make up is HORRIBLE. The only reason it doesn't look bad is because she is beautiful lol. If you look at it piece by piece it is awful. The color match is terrible, the eyebrows, the highlight, the eyeshadow, the eyeliner is uneven and the whole look is just bad.

I remember I went to Ulta and i was trying makeup because i was just trying to find some basic shit that i actually liked but i refused to ask anyone for help because i already knew how they were and i kid you not. this woman that worked there got mad at me and said uh u cant put on a whole face of makeup (which i didnt she just saw me trying something on) and i said okay. then i continued looking to see what else they had because i saw that alot of the things they had were dry or nasty and old. or i just didnt think it was moisturizing enough for me and so i saw another woman approach me saying the same thing to me. never had i had workers at either sephora or ulta pretty much telling me to leave just for trying on their products .... wow. after that i just never wanted to even look at the products or go into that store after being treated the way they treated me. i thought customers were welcomed to try on products.

Your experience with that Mac store is exactly the same type of experience I had. If your makeup is not on point when you go to the counter ,they dismiss you as if you aren't worth their time.

Lol you should go to this Mac store I went to the other day, the guy was doing my makeup and I’ve seen him a few times but he wears like blue eyeshadow and red lipstick and to me it looks crazy. So I asked for his advice on blush, I told him I didn’t want any shimmer, so we went through 8 different blushes, 2 mac mineralized blushes and for some reason he picked out this like face powder, because each one just disappeared on my skin which was weird on top of me using the wipes, the product was making like crescents on my face. Then I asked him that I wanted something like this new shade sur just a little more darker which I thought would of been like a deeper berry color but no he pulls out this super dark purple shade and then this brown shade and this weird peach shade that made my skin look ashy. So I’m like super confused, and I don’t even work at Mac but he did not pick out dark skin friendly shades for me, oh ontop of him putting blush near my forehead like you would highlighter, it was not cute, and this woman that works there, oh lord her lipstick application needs super help because they chose red on my lips and she tried to follow my Cupid’s bow but it wasn’t happening lmao.

EVERYONE HATE IT AND END UP QUITTING". "Just go back to Clinique like before. Now it makes sense. However that consultant did wrong all on her own.

You did a whole lot better than I would of. A few years ago my hubby gave me a couple hundred for my birthday, to go to MAC. Keep in mind I did not own MAC products, but always wanted some. The day I went I had just gotten a facial so I had no make up on. I got the same looks and could not get anyone to help. So I went to Sephora a few shops down. Of course the ladies in Sephora were very helpful. After leaving Sephora (with a very large bag) I want back into MAC and they gave me the same look up and down. Once they saw the bag from Sephora their whole attitude changed. I told them they did not deserve the comishion from my purchases and asked where was another MAC location. To this day I have never wanted to set foot in another MAC store. I have a friend who like to try new make up looks and used me as her test subject. I will not let her use MAC products on me. I know that seems a little extreme, but I can't support a product that treats people like that.

ikr, One Time I was at Mac and I asked for a foundation. I already knew which one I wanted and I told them. I'm pretty pale and they literally gave me a foundation 3 shades darker than my actual skin tone. I'm only 15 so it's a pretty big deal for me to buy Mac products. In the store they like made it look paler and when I got home and used it, It oxidised like hell.

I had a bad experience too. I ended up leaving because loud as can be the mac employee laughingly said to her coworker "omg girl I can't do this ladies makeup, she so pale like casper done crawled up in my chair! Mac don't make the shade paper!" I was so humiliated because I'm so self conscious of how pale I am. Makeup is hard to find for me. I was going in to get my makeup done to celebrate being in remission and I was just so sad. I was going to buy everything that worked too, brushes included.

Sorry to hear you went through that. I used to get offended and for awhile stayed away from make up and perfume counters for that very reason. Later on, I became a store manager and I had to visit other stores just to see how they treated me. I walked in with shorts, sandals, an old top and no make up on. I got ignored and stared down, I even had people following me. I loved to see their faces when I ended up making a big purchase. It was part of our training to go an experienced other store’s costumer service. It sucked , but it showed me not to judge costumers based on appearance. It showed me that I have to make every costumer welcomed in my store so they want to spend their money with us and the most important part, I want them to keep coming back. Mac should train their sales people so they can make more $$$

Since MAC employees are supposed to be "professional makeup artists" meaning that they have a license.. I've heard way too many stories like this. FYI if you blew on a client, or a customer, or any palette of any sort while state inspectors were in the building, or a "secret shopper" was there, you would get your license snatched up so fast!!
Just an FYI @RachelLee Jernigan Artist do not have licenses. We have Certifications but all can be at different certification levels.

Honestly I find the same thing when I venture into stores that sell makeup and wander around the beauty section, if I'm not wearing makeup I'm treated in a condescending way. If I'm in there with my face on the staff are as sweet as honey. The other difference is that if I'm in my makeup I'm only asked ONCE if I need help then Im left alone (which I like because I'm a quiet browser, I like to be slow and read everything and make up my mind when I'm ready). If not, I swear I get asked by every staff member in the store if I need help because I'm obviously lost and have no idea what I'm doing - cue eyeroll.

No place I've ever been to in my area is like this lol I'm friends with girls at my local Ulta, Sephora & MAC. It's not the company, it's the people.
Drugstore, there's no one to judge you for buying it. You just won't have help, but it's cheap. I love Sephora the girls are nice and will help you out, and you can't get free samples. Ulta is ok, it's nice, But not to amazing.

I bought concealer and liquid liner first, a few weeks later foundation and powder, later setting spray and a pallet, and so on... Every few weeks I'd spend like $50 so my dad wouldn't get pissed off and notice where his money was going.
Thought So That's still a lot. I'd only spend $50 at Sephora if it's something i REALLY want.

This reminds me of an experience I had at Ulta in 2016. I have hooded eyes and wanted tips on winged liners and they had Urban Decay/Ulta artist doing full beat.
I got there and bonded with the first artist but she was working on another young lady. My artist came and long story short, took the darkest foundation in the collection and plastered it on my face. No attempts to match or anything. I explained that it’s too dark and doesn’t match my body. She rudely said, “it matches your neck”, and she had a home girl co-signing her mess!
When she got to the liner, which my 10 year old nephew could’ve done better, I told her that I can’t see the wing when I smile, she then said... don’t smile!!! And again her partner in crime said the same thing. I got up off the chair and said, “we’re done”.
This was a very disheartening experience with racial undertones (just like a very famous influencer spoke about throwing battery acid in a black girl’s face so she can finally match her foundation). The beauty industry can be so ugly!

Also, the funny part about those movies and your experience is that the whole point of going into a makeup or a clothing store is to get something that you don't have. If you go into a clothing store to buy nice clothes and you are wearing drab clothes, there's no reason for anyone to talk down to you because you're there to buy what they have and they are making money. The reason you are wearing drab clothes might be because you don't have nice clothes, and you're there to buy nice clothes to wear, and it's just the same with makeup.

The make up is HORRIBLE. The only reason it doesn't look bad is because she is beautiful lol. If you look at it piece by piece it is awful. The color match is terrible, the eyebrows, the highlight, the eyeshadow, the eyeliner is uneven and the whole look is just bad.

I remember I went to Ulta and i was trying makeup because i was just trying to find some basic shit that i actually liked but i refused to ask anyone for help because i already knew how they were and i kid you not. this woman that worked there got mad at me and said uh u cant put on a whole face of makeup (which i didnt she just saw me trying something on) and i said okay. then i continued looking to see what else they had because i saw that alot of the things they had were dry or nasty and old. or i just didnt think it was moisturizing enough for me and so i saw another woman approach me saying the same thing to me. never had i had workers at either sephora or ulta pretty much telling me to leave just for trying on their products .... wow. after that i just never wanted to even look at the products or go into that store after being treated the way they treated me. i thought customers were welcomed to try on products.
also i refuse to try anything on at Mac because right when i go in i already know theyre staring at me and i just feel uncomfortable.

I've been in the checkout line and I've asked a cashier that was ringing my items up how much a product a cost and they automatically think because you asked that you can't afford it and you want to put it back and look at you weird😕

Your experience with that Mac store is exactly the same type of experience I had. If your makeup is not on point when you go to the counter ,they dismiss you as if you aren't worth their time.
Do not take this the wrong way I hope I don't get any horrible comments from what I'm about to say but when I go to a make up counter I look for a male they are always better with make up they always nice they treat me like a actual customer.

Lol you should go to this Mac store I went to the other day, the guy was doing my makeup and I’ve seen him a few times but he wears like blue eyeshadow and red lipstick and to me it looks crazy. So I asked for his advice on blush, I told him I didn’t want any shimmer, so we went through 8 different blushes, 2 mac mineralized blushes and for some reason he picked out this like face powder, because each one just disappeared on my skin which was weird on top of me using the wipes, the product was making like crescents on my face. Then I asked him that I wanted something like this new shade sur just a little more darker which I thought would of been like a deeper berry color but no he pulls out this super dark purple shade and then this brown shade and this weird peach shade that made my skin look ashy. So I’m like super confused, and I don’t even work at Mac but he did not pick out dark skin friendly shades for me, oh ontop of him putting blush near my forehead like you would highlighter, it was not cute, and this woman that works there, oh lord her lipstick application needs super help because they chose red on my lips and she tried to follow my Cupid’s bow but it wasn’t happening lmao.

Either 1 she doesn't know how the heck to do makeup the correct way or 2 she was so jealous of you because just like a comment was stated earlier you look like real life Pocahontas..like foreal you are so beautiful!!! lol I seriously would have lost it!! By the end of her shift she would have lost a job..ugh. Your are so funny tho. 😂👍🏽 it's so true if I leave my house without makeup on or if I'm just in some sweats and a t shirt and I walk into a makeup store or in fact even dollar general they look at me like I'm nothing..like you said it looks like their face hurts looking at me. 😩
I seriously give you so much props for still sitting there I would not have lasted for my whole appointment. I would have flipped. ESPECIALLY after she used MY HIGHLIGHT!
