Susan, I need help! Using my machine for fabric cutting; tried with 1 layer and 4 layers of cotton fabric for quilting. It is ridiculously cracking and unbelievably warped my plastic top layer. Help!!! I spent too much for this machine, to keep replacing top layer after 1 use!

Agree Michelle. First cut, according to the guide book, almost cut through the plates. Have to buy more. Look at videos that use self healing mats. Save money.

Michelle, so glad I found your video! Your AWESOME! I was leary to buy another machine (just got a Vagabond) but I'm excited to buy mine on sale on HSN tonight. After watching your video I'm sold. I have intricate dies that I cant all of the paper out of and I end up getting frustrated. I make lots of cards and just want a machine that can get the job done. Again, after watching you I'm sold! LOVE your voice and enthusiasm. Thanks for being so helpful and lovely. Look forward to more videos from you. :)

I understand your excitement over the tiny pieces coming out. I have a cuttlebug and intricate dies do not come out because I can never get the correct shim in place. It was great to hear you talk about the other machines and this one. I was considering buying another brand. But not now. I'll save up for this one. Thank you for sharing this information...;) It is valuable, time saving, money saving and frustration saving!

I was ready to return this machine, until I saw your awesome video tonight.
I looked at the one that the Sarah Daves did on it and said I don't need another machine and it looked confusing.
    Thank you so much:)
I know later I would have regretted it.

Thank you Michelle for your response,I have been in touch with Crafters Companion. Before returning the Gemini, they want me to try other dies, this is what they will do if I send it back.If they find it is a faulty machine then they would replace it.I want to make a gatefold card using the intricate die either end, this is why I need the even pressure, I'm using A4 size card so cannot turn it at an angle. I so appreciate the help from other 'crafters' such as yourself. Thanks again, Tricia

Rose...the GEMINI is ideal for intricate dies...
Until I had the GEMINI...my intricate dies really weren't being used...it as just too frustrating to have to run them thru my other machines so many times..and STILL not get a complete cut...
Now...with the GEMINI...I get great cuts every time...
      Zero frustration!
      Enjoy our GEMINI Rose!

Thank you for a great, helpful video, Michelle! I unpacked my Gemini last night and had a problem embossing the Happy Birthday die. It kept shifting and double-cut in the middle of some flowers making ovals instead of circles. The embossing is shifted over in places. I tried 3 times, one time with tape. I want to love this machine, but I have to get past this to get there! Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

FYI: I have been using my Crafters Companion and found my cover plate was warping badly. I turned my plates each time and still found them warping. So, I used my son's heat gun to warm the plate up a bit and that took the warp out easily. Just be careful not to burn your fingers with the gun. I also put a heavy book on top to smooth the plate out and let it cool. I have new plates!! Most of the cutting marks were also removed with this method. No mess. And no color change.

Recently purchased the Gemini, tried cutting a Sue Wilson, Gemini die several times also used the metal plate twice and the centre did not cut. I thought this machine was an all over pressure. • @michelleskitchenadventures
      @michelleskitchenadventures 8 років тому +1

HI Tricia....I personally haven't had any issues cutting any die that I've put through the Gemini....have you tried laying the die on the plate in a position thats not straight...(a little but skewed...partially sideways) ...sometimes...with other machines...this is helpful in getting a complete cut..if you continue to have a difficult time getting the machine to cut that die...I would suggest you contact Crafters Companion....they have great customer service....I am thinking that they may be able to guide you in some way....I hope that you're able to find a solution for the problem...and enjoy your machine :)

Michelle, thank you so much for shooting this video!!! I'm wondering if you have any Anna Griffin dies, apparently a lot of HSN customers who bought the Gemini the day you did are also big Anna Griffin fans, I too love her dies and have quite a few. People are finding then they go to emboss her dies that the die cuts right through the embossing mat. I wondered if you had tried any... CC has suggested taking out the plastic shim, which is something I will try when I get mine (I have to go across the border from Canada into the US to pick it up, hopefully in the next couple of days).
I also wondered if you tried the advice from Paula DiGiovanni who suggested putting your magnetic pad under your plastic shim. But that would not work for cutting Anna's dies, as CC suggested taking out the plastic shim, but I'm not sure if that was just for embossing or for cutting Anna's dies too. Apparently they don't need as much pressure (Anna's dies), so the plastic shim is not needed for them.
I will be VERY interested to hear if you've tried Anna's dies, they are made by Cuttlebug. I used to use a Cuttlebug until it literally imploded, and have a Cut 'N Boss electric machine, but it won't emboss Anna's dies properly, either they are under-embossed and don't get all of the detail, or when I add more of a shim, then it over-embosses, and the little holes in the back of this die (Anna Griffin Fretworks frame die) are embossed as little dots all over the frame, which isn't what I want of course. I am hoping the Gemini will solve these problems, I deal with major physical issues that make using a manual die-cutter impossible now, so I hope to stick to this electric one. If I bought a manual machine, which would you suggest as an adjunct one for occasional use?
I look forward to watching more of your videos, Michelle, you did one great presentation for sure!!! I enjoyed watching you so much, your enthusiasm and your clear expertise. And what a craft room, how I wish I had that much space!!! I'm re-doing my craft room which includes taking my piano out for the extra space, I love seeing all of your supplies so organized, and hope mine will get there again, it was organized once...now I need more space for sure. Where did you buy your furniture and products you use to organize your crafts? I hope you don't mind my asking...
Thanks again for this GREAT tutorial, you are a great teacher and I will be watching your other videos for sure!!!
    Blessings and best wishes,
    Joanne

Hi Joanne...Thanks for taking time to comment..and chat..and thank for your kind words about the video and my studio....
I haven't tried any of my Anna Griffn dies in the GEMINI ...yet...
I ave to say...I'm a bit hesitant only because of the reports from others about embossing mats getting chewed up...
I may call crafter's Companion before putting an Anna G die in my machine.to see what sort of guidance they might be able to offer....
I di (in the video) use a MFT (My Favorite Thing) die...and that worked fine...but them again..that was only a cut...no embossing involved...
As for a manual machine to get...I have always been a Cuttlebug lover...but truthfully..this last year.I FINALLY took out my brand new BIG SHOT that I have had for years..unopened..unused....and now I am in LOVE..and the Cuttlebug is now fully retired...only to be used when i go out of the house on vacation etc..and want to take along a portable & smaller machine
I would recommend the BIG SHOT PLUS....it's got the wider platform...(and its manual)...but hard to crank....easy on the arms and hands)...
My thinking is...if you're going to go manual..why not get a wider platform machine now...just in case you eventually use a wider or larger die or embossing folder. (i.e....6x6...8x8)
I also have the Big Shot Express...another great machine...but that's only an electric machine...no manual capability....
As for my studio....the entire room was custom built by a carpenter.contractor for my personal need..
I sketched everything out...and he built it...
Every shelf and space was measured for the things that I knew I would be putting in that spot...and built to my specifications
All of those turquoise trimmed "containers" that you see...that are individually labelled...are from Consumer Crafts....they're called satchels...They are the one thing that I wanted for sorting my "stuff'...
The paper sorter in the background is a metal sorter from an office furniture supply company
The black aper organizers on the counter tops are from amazon....
I have been asked many tyros to do a video of my studio and how it;s organized...
this conversation reminds me that I should do that. :)
I hope that some of this info is helpful to you, Joanne...
Thanks again for your kind words and for your interest in me and my card making
Wishing you many crafty days ahead!
      Michelle

Thanks so much, Michelle. I too think I'd go with a Big Shot. One of my friends just bought a Big Shot Plus and she doesn't like it, she thinks it's too big and she has an Etsy business, so perhaps I can buy it from her and she can buy a regular one. I have the Big Shot Express, so I have the plates for a Big Shot. I do think I will mainly use an electric one, my arms and hands and neck just can't handle the pressure involved in cutting at least what it takes to use a Cuttlebug...
I hope you will get the info needed for Anna dies, I already have some steel-ruled dies I use quite a bit, so I'll need to keep something for those, but they aren't difficult to use in a manual machine at all... I need to be able to use my Anna dies, and my Cut 'N Boss doesn't emboss them properly, and I couldn't get a good answer from Cut 'N Boss about it other than to experiment with shims, not helpful! But cutting, no problem. I do prefer to have a reverse button, sometimes you are doing a small bit of cutting and you don't want your whole plate to go through time-wise, and a reverse button saves that time.
I look forward to watching more of your videos. I too have that CC nativity scene but because it's so intricate, I hadn't tried it yet, love that one and can't wait to use it on Christmas cards, that's my kind of Christmas die, although I love ornaments and other Christmas dies too, just that I like to see the real meaning of Christmas in Christmas cards for those who would like it...
CC should be hiring you to do promotional UA-cams, you are GREAT, Michelle!!! You are a delightful person!!! Thanks too for the info on your craft room, that is so generous of you--I am going to try and do what I can, wishing I had a handy guy in my life, so glad you do. He sounds like a wonderful person, but then so are you!!! :)
Best wishes and blessings, I look forward to checking out your other videos, I hope doing this Gemini video brings you tons of new crafters to your UA-cam page, I think it will, and good for YOU!!! :)
Hoping we are both going to LOVE this machine, I need to go across the border to pick it up very soon hopefully.
      Joanne

You're so cute,Michelle! I don't have to wonder whether or not you are happy with your Gemini! So-now that it's several months later - are you still enamored? Do you have any other electric die cut machines? Which is your favorite? And-I have a Cuttlebug-I have always stacked my sandwiches "upside down" so I can see where I am placing the die on the paper, especially for cutting out stamped images. Can you do that with the Gemini? I love that this comes with all the plates you need and don't have to break the bank (which it seems like you have to do with a Big Shot) to get all you need! Of course, I've had my Cuttlebug for so long that I had to add rubber shims and metal shims much later, but I wouldn't have a cutting/embossing machine without them!

      HI Avra!
      YES!....I am still having a LOVE-FEST with my GEMINI...although I haven't hugged it lately...likeI did in the video...lol
It's amazing...and truthfully...it is my go-to machine....I rarely use any of my (ridiculous number) of die cutting machines.
About reversing your plate order....to see what you're cutting out...you can do that with the upper plates in the GEMINI sandwich...I only know this...not from my own experience...but because I saw another GEMINI video that showed that.
      I have a VAGABOND....rarely use it....
and a BIG SHOT EXPRESS...another great machine that I'm really happy to have...I like it a lot...but I find that the GEMINI is the best workhorse for detailed and intricate dies...
and of course..like you...I still enjoy my Cuttlebug now and then....and my regular BIG SHOT is always on standby for a quickie little fast die cut or emboss
I should also note...I use a lot of 110lb....111lb and 130 lb card stock...and the GEMINI cuts that heavy heavy stuff like it's tissue paper...(NONE of my other machine can handle that)
Are you thinking of getting a GEMINI Avra?
I take full responsibility for enabling you in the past with stamps etc...haha...maybe the GEMINI will be next on the Avra/Michelle enabling list!

I received a Gemini go as a gift from my friend. The first time I went to use it, it jammed. It won’t release.

Bought my machine just yesterday (9 October ‘19). You got many more goodies with yours than I did!
My magnetic sheet is marked out with a grid which I thought was a great idea. Used it once - pretty much knackered. Dies have impressed right into it, got quite flat in some places.
Lovely machine but bit disappointed so far....

Look for new video's showing how to avoid this happening. Also the use of a self healing cutting mat instead of buying a new cutting plate.

The cutting plate is so thin, that after using it for several months the heat now in August has warped the plate so much the its barely possible to run it through the machine.
