Me, watching this video on March 2020, while a worldwide pandemic is happening and the country is in total shutdown: Pj: "There is this boardgame called Pandemic..." Me: *starts sweating*
please please please make a video of you playing board games with your friends i just now im invested in these games but i cant actually buy them (broke) or gather friends to play them (lonely) so please pj let us experience the wonders of these games vicariously through your fictional adventures with friends
One of my favorites recently is called "A fake artist goes to new york" and it's like the chameleon but with drawing! And I loove the mind, I gifted it to a friend on Christmas and it was so fun playing it all together
it's weird to see something that even vaguely features dan and phil where half the comments aren't "wow this hits different," esp since this was posted the day before dan's coming out video
Have you ever heard of ‘werewolves of Millers hollow’? It’s my favorite game ever, and when you play with custom cards it’s even better. It’s basically chameleon except that there’s no secret word; just murderous chameleons
All those games look really fun, one game you might want to look at is Monikers, it's a group game with three rounds and two groups, I love playing it with my friends and I hope you like it too! Have funnn!
you should play Duel! it's 7 wonders but made for two players. if you wanna play a board game but only have one person to play with, it's a really good choice. you flip a coin to see who picks wonders first then flip again to see who goes first for the actual gameplay. if you take the time to learn it it's a really good strategy game that leaves just enough to chance
My favorite game is betrayal at house on the hill. It's a co op game where you explore a haunted house and eventually an event happens where one of the players turns into a random monster. The players have to then work together to defeat the monster. It's great to play again and again because each game you get a different bad guy with a different back story and different way of defeating them. I'm sure you would enjoy it PJ
Some of my recent favorites are 5 Minute Dungeon, Coup, and Unstable Unicorns. I’ve also played a game that’s fairly brand new called Tavern Masters that was a 10/10 experience. Betrayal at the House on the Hill will always be one of my all-time favorites, my friends and I always play it at least once when we’re out for games and it’s so unique and ends differently every time you play it. I would definitely recommend all of these.
I highly recommend Elder Sign to keep that ominous vibe going! Also definitely a play-in-the-dark-game. Burn some candles, scare some friends, accidentally wind up in another dimension... one of my absolute favourites.
I played The Mind with my friends after I got it for my birthday and boy oh boy we sat there in SILENCE for like 6 minutes and I had 100, and the recently played card was like 30 something so I had to look like I wasn’t going to play my card soon at all.... took way longer than it should’ve
221b Baker Street: loads of unique cases of Sherlock Holmes and you have to go around the board collecting clues on motives, weapons and culprits of crimes, becoming your own sherlock and solving the case before the other members that are playing doing the same thing
In my boardgame group we regulary play The Mind, Pandemic and Dead of Winter :) For everyone who likes big games with a lot of strategie I would recommend Terraforming Mars and Andor.
omg I love your game reviews so much, literally went to the store and bought The Chameleon and played it for hours with family and friends before even finishing the video!! Please make more videos like this💛💛💛
Hey PJ, I work at a boardgame shop in the Netherlands and I would like to recommend some board games to you as well. My two favorite board game producers are Jeremy Stonemaier and Red Raven games. Try Near and Far by Red Raven Games, a really cool story telling board game. Or Wingspan (one of my all time favorites) or Scythe by Stonemaier, their art work is mind blowingly good and have really well thought mechanics. Much love from NL!
Have you ever heard of or played 7 Wonders? We got this gem because you can play it with up to seven people. It doesn't take long (unlike for example Carcassonne) since everyone plays at the same time, and has since been the absolute go-to-game for our family.
*Story Cubes!!!* They're these little dice that all have pictures on each side, and you roll all of them and have to tell a story using all of the pictures you rolled. You can get little extension packs for different genres of story too, so it can get really wacky! It's really fun in a group of any size and you get to be so creative, I would definitely recommend them :D))
also also, PJ you should really become a D&D 5e DM, you'd love it. magic and storytelling that is unique to your table and friend group, it's a lot of fun!
Gosh where to start! I recommend... -Arabian Nights -Wingspan -Ex Libris -Break the Safe -Istanbul -Too Many Cinderellas -Imhotep -Lost Cities Board Game -King of Tokyo -Star Trek Panic (spin off of Castle Panic) -Castles of Mad King Ludwig -Asara ...and many more!
I've actually played Dead of Winter with friends! After a while (and a pretty hard vote) we kinda stopped playing our roles and checked if we remembered to lower the correct amount of motivation. We didn't. There was just one motivation point left and on the next roll the person who went for the supplies died immediately. We lost pretty bad, but it was so much fun!
I would definitely recommend The Quiet Year. It's really great since the foundation is super simple and each game is totally unique depending on how you play it since the overall story line is created by the players. I think you can find a pdf of all of the cards somewhere online, so it's super accessible. I played it in a storytelling for video games class and it was honestly one of the most interesting games I've ever played.
I would highly recommend Mountains of Madness. It’s a Cthulhu game where you’re all trying to work as a team to ascend a mountain, *but* there’s some madness that will impede your journey. Only takes an hour to play and is loads fun. You’ll lose more often than you win, but it’s about the journey and not the destination.
A board game we enjoy as a family is 5 Seconds Rule. It’s so funny and memorable and you don’t realise how silly people can be with their answers till they have five seconds to answer. (I panicked and answered “Stalin” and “Hitler” to the question “name 3 US presidents”)
You should check out 'Unstable Unicorns' - seems like a lighthearted card game about collecting unicorns for your stable until suddenly your 'friends' are betraying you left and right.
When DAPG comes back to life, I really hope they do vids with you because I love the chemistry the three of you have and you and Phil both have weird random. Minds and can bounce off each other so well
i feel like im missing out on so much since i never play board games! i literally dont know anything about them except as you mentioned the classics like monopoly but hearing you be so passionate about it definitely made me want to try games like these as well
My only memorable monopoly experience was when me, my sister and my cousin were playing and my cousin bought all of the properties around each corner and dubbed it “the four corners of doom”
If you love cooperative board games, you’d love the game Forbidden Island where each character with a set type of skills must try to escape an island about to flood. It’s really interesting, and I really think you’ll enjoy it.
I have a game recommendation in the co-op style, ive only played it once and loved it so much but its called sub terra, you and friends have to pick characters and use there skilles to make your way out of a cave system you buiild as the game progresses before time runs out
Betrayal at House on the Hill! It’s this super fun game where you play characters exploring a haunted house but if you open a room with a raven inside you have to roll the dice and if a certain number is played then a Haunt begins and everyone has to work together to leave the house except one of the players is controlling the haunt and trying to kill all other players. It’s a fun game where you get to start out working together but then betray all your friends! It has expansion packs too!!
I have fun memories playing Monopoly with my dad. We didn't like get mad or get frustrated with the game. We had a genuinely fun time. Literally the only times I would really feel like he was being a good dad lol
There’s a game that my family and I play that’s not technically a board game (or a board game at all for that matter) but it’s called the “jack box party pack” in which everyone uses their phone to play different mini games that are displayed on a tv. We use the amazon fire stick but can be found on other devices I believe
There's a lovely board game cafe in Oxford and I'm a BIG fan of Bausack, a ridiculous brick building game where you can force other players into taking awkward pieces. I also like Mini Garden for a strangely addictive and simple but unusual card game.
Do you (still) play d&d Pj? I'd love to hear some stories from that if you do. Also would love to see some boardgame gameplay (preferably dead of winter or pandemic but anything really)... Me and my three siblings have played boardgames/d&d/mtg since forever and although we're spread all over the place now whenever we are together board games ALWAYS happen... and then often we hate each other for all the terrible things we did to each other in the game... ahh, good fun. Thanks for the recommendations, haven't played plenty of these!
I don't know if you've ever played it, but I recommend a boardgame called 7 wonders. My friends and I were so obsessed with it that we basically spent an entire semester of college playing through it, almost every night...
Omg thank you for making this! I’ve been looking for some board games to take with me on holiday to play with my family and friends! Can’t wait to ruin some friendships while trapped in a tent together!
Mysterium is one of my all time favorite tabletop games! The art is beautiful, and one player has to be a ghost (who can only communicate in nonverbal ways like knocking). I hope this isn't too late bc it's a great game a lot of people would probably really enjoy!!!
Co-op or 1 player game: Robinson Crusoe, very difficult but rewarding. With friends card games: Munchkins or Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle (it's actually really fun, well thought out and quite challenging) Fast paced fun: King of New York
There's another version of Pandemic that I really like. It's Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu where it's basically the same game except you're in the 1930's trying to stop cultists from summoning the ancient gods and it's just really fun if you want a little more of a fantasy spin on it!
i think you'd really like the board game codenames! you have a grid of words and a map with which words are yours and you have to get your teammate to fill up the board without being able to see the map. You can only give one word clues its really fun
You should play Time Stories!!!!!! It’s an amazing coop board game about time travel with puzzles to solve and each expansion is just a new story with new characters. It takes a while to learn and is hard to explain, but it’s so satisfying to finish a story.
I've been obsessed with Pandemic lately, playing it whenever possible. I highly recomend Betrayal at House on the Hill, the game is so different every time you play it and everyone I've played it with get so invested in the game!
Good games :) -Captain sonar -Unstable unicorns (more of a funny game but it's pretty good) - Gloomhaven (it's amazing, but it can be very long, but you get that unique game experience everytime)
No one:
PJ: Throws Phil under the bus
I wish I could like this comment again because your name is hilarious
Crispy Squid of The Acid Cats thanks 😂
this made me lol
He probably did it as revenge for when Phil said he was missing out on Harold’s tickling treatment
P.J., Dan, Phil, and Chris playing Chameleon would be a video I would watch
Your friends don't trust you anymore
Bold of you to presume I had friends in the first place
Craig Lowe i love how no one has replied, NO FRIENDS
Lmao.. agree too much! ♥️
all of you don't have friends ,let's be friends
He is so weird, I love him.
Also,
PJ fix your head back

Me, watching this video on March 2020, while a worldwide pandemic is happening and the country is in total shutdown:
Pj: "There is this boardgame called Pandemic..."
Me: *starts sweating*
Please do a video of you playing games with Dan and Phil, it seems so fun! ^^
0:52 well you don’t need a board game to discover what that would be like anymore...lol
"I've known about pandemic for a really long time" - thanks for the heads up mate
Pj the king of game
Also the king of uploading consistently 👍🏼glad you’re back
Roblox on mobile. Scary

Lol me: 😳
wow my roommates and I were just talking about how we should play more board games this is such perfect timing
thank you for the subtle reassurance that Dan is okay
first one "pandemic, one of the worst outbreaks of a virus ever seen" major foreshadowing
That first game recommendation- "Things can and will go wrong". PANDEMIC. Hello 2021.
One of my favorites recently is called "A fake artist goes to new york" and it's like the chameleon but with drawing! And I loove the mind, I gifted it to a friend on Christmas and it was so fun playing it all together
You should really play Dixit, it's quite simple but very creative and fun plus the cards are really beautiful especially the expansions
now i need a video of pj playing these board games aghhh
it's weird to see something that even vaguely features dan and phil where half the comments aren't "wow this hits different," esp since this was posted the day before dan's coming out video
I would love to recommend exploding kittens; this game is hilarious with a bit of betrayal and wonderful artwork
Love it
Me in august 2020, seeing that that the first game is called Pandemic and is about an outbreak of the worst virus the world has ever seen: TOO SOON
This calls for another 'SOME LOVELY BOARD GAMES' with yourself included as a player
I like sad ghost lamp thingy in back.
.

.
Oh yea! Nice vid PJ 🌚
Have you ever heard of ‘werewolves of Millers hollow’?
It’s my favorite game ever, and when you play with custom cards it’s even better. It’s basically chameleon except that there’s no secret word; just murderous chameleons
(Also it's a thousand times more fun and interesting if you have discuss&accuse time before you vote)
All those games look really fun, one game you might want to look at is Monikers, it's a group game with three rounds and two groups, I love playing it with my friends and I hope you like it too! Have funnn!
Honestly, if I ever have a terminal illness I will honestly play board games with pj as my make a wish.
Icarus' Guardian ok, i hope and wish you never come down with an illness that severe, but at the same time, yes
That first recommendation didn’t age well...
you should play Duel! it's 7 wonders but made for two players. if you wanna play a board game but only have one person to play with, it's a really good choice. you flip a coin to see who picks wonders first then flip again to see who goes first for the actual gameplay. if you take the time to learn it it's a really good strategy game that leaves just enough to chance
I am so excited you made a vid about card/boardgames aahhhh 🧡👌
My favorite game is betrayal at house on the hill.

0:49 i screamed in my heart
We were looking through our boardgames and found pandemic... Yeah that one went in the loft
Pandemic is my family's favourite game. It's simple enough that my dad likes it and my brothers get really into the strategy
These games are so cool!! And im glad Dan and Phil are socializing and doing what they love (playing board games)😁
221b Baker Street: loads of unique cases of Sherlock Holmes and you have to go around the board collecting clues on motives, weapons and culprits of crimes, becoming your own sherlock and solving the case before the other members that are playing doing the same thing
Rewatching this video during 2020s quarantine make me fill that this video wouldn't hold up right now
In my boardgame group we regulary play The Mind, Pandemic and Dead of Winter :) For everyone who likes big games with a lot of strategie I would recommend Terraforming Mars and Andor.
omg I love your game reviews so much, literally went to the store and bought The Chameleon and played it for hours with family and friends before even finishing the video!! Please make more videos like this💛💛💛
I LOVE YOUR DANG VIDEOS. They calm me down and get me ready for the day at the same time and I applaud you for that.

i was so immersed by your wonderful storytelling-like description of these games that your "bye" at the end of the vid jump scared me
I think I may have to get some more board games now.
*Story Cubes!!!* They're these little dice that all have pictures on each side, and you roll all of them and have to tell a story using all of the pictures you rolled. that thumbnail made me indescribably concerned for PJ.
The Chameleon is just Secret Hitler but for kids
(I’d highly recommend Secret Hitler)
it sounds exactly like Spyfall, or even Faking It!
Dear God I would kill to see PJ, Sammy and the rest of the British Art crew play that game
I would love there to be a channel where Dan, Phil, PJ and a guest play board games.
Damn, that really was a memorable game of Dead of Winter!
also also, PJ you should really become a D&D 5e DM, you'd love it. magic and storytelling that is unique to your table and friend group, it's a lot of fun!
My friend and I always play the binding of Issac, it’s definitely made us both cry in anger and happiness.
Gosh where to start! I recommend...
-Arabian Nights
-Wingspan
-Ex Libris
-Break the Safe
-Istanbul
-Too Many Cinderellas
-Imhotep
-Lost Cities Board Game
-King of Tokyo
-Star Trek Panic (spin off of Castle Panic)

...and many more!
Betrayal at the House on the Hill and Cult Following. Two of my recent favourites to play with my friends.
Thank you for making these videos PJ! I love tabletop games and I wish more people took them seriously.
Game rec.:One Night Ultimate Werewolf (with the companion app and daybreak extension), Coup, Salem 1692, Donner Dinner Party, The Resistance: Avalon
I would definitely recommend The Quiet Year. I got the chameleon for my mum for Christmas last year, she absolutely loved it. it's a great game to play at dinner parties.
If you love cooperative board games, you’d love the game Forbidden Island where each character with a set type of skills must try to escape an island about to flood. It’s really interesting, and I really think you’ll enjoy it.
Some recent favorites of mine include Codenames, Love Letter, Honshu, and Hanamikoji
I really want to play all of these. Right now. Thanks for the recs that I spend all summer playing!
I have a game recommendation in the co-op style, ive only played it once and loved it so much but its called sub terra, you and friends have to pick characters and use there skilles to make your way out of a cave system you buiild as the game progresses before time runs out
Betrayal at house on the hill! It’s an amazing story based game with teamwork, a betrayer, and many many outcomes.

Chameleon is pretty much my favorite game ever!! Nice games are pretty tough to find, so thanks for another one of these.
There's a lovely board game cafe in Oxford and I'm a BIG fan of Bausack, a ridiculous brick building game where you can force other players into taking awkward pieces. I also like Mini Garden for a strangely addictive and simple but unusual card game.
Recommendation timestamps:
Pandemic - 0:49
The Chameleon - 1:49
The Mind - 3:29
The Binding of Issac: Four Souls - 4:55

I’m so happy to hear you talk about Daniel, give him a late “happy birthday “ from me. You should do a video playing some games! I love those
Omg thank you for making this!
The Fantastic Foursome should make a video play through of ALL OF THESE GAMES.
All in favour, give this a like. 👍🏽
Please please please can this happen
i would pay to see this
I'd love to see a livestream of pj and friends playing any of these games. i think it'd be so entertaining
i know this is you just talking about board games, but it's one of my favorite videos i've seen lately!
Co-op or 1 player game: Robinson Crusoe, very difficult but rewarding.
With friends card games: Munchkins or Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle (it's actually really fun, well thought out and quite challenging)
Fast paced fun: King of New York
Pandemic is ideal game right now to play when you are in lockdown.
"daniel." HAHAHA that made me laugh so hard omg

I've been obsessed with Pandemic lately, playing it whenever possible.
I highly recomend Betrayal at House on the Hill, the game is so different every time you play it and everyone I've played it with get so invested in the game!
We need a video of you playing board games with Dan and Phil and people
Good games :)
-Captain sonar
-Unstable unicorns (more of a funny game but it's pretty good)
- Gloomhaven (it's amazing, but it can be very long, but you get that unique game experience everytime)
