    Damn, that was exciting! The anchor for the French didn’t get close enough to the wall on his turn & lost that vital extra stroke as he had to pull up from the dolphin kick a bit early. However, is was a fantastic effort!

    Australia's Top 4 from the Olympic Trials...
    100m Freestyle Results
    1) MAGNUSSEN 47:10...
    2) ROBERTS 47:63...
    3) TARGETT 48:32...
    4) SULLIVAN 48:53...
    A much faster team than the 2011 World Championship winning team.

    This was probably the worst thing that could have happened for Aussie team. They became big headed after this win and completely flamed out in the London Olympics. It was the beginning of the infamous Stilnox 6.

      Magnusson was an arrogant tool and a huge part of that whole debacle. Glad he never got the individual gold - it took years to undo the damage he’d done, and had he been rewarded for such obnoxious behaviour we’d likely not be in the golden era we have now.

    in the beginning i was talking about relay starts. i know magnussen should go about 46 high off a flat start and hes probably going first. you're right about roberts, probably 46 mid-high off a relay start. i think sullivan is going to be an integral part of the relay, i know his time was in the old polyurethane suits but dont count him out. he was going 47 lows flat start, he should do that or better with a relay start. targett 47 mid sounds about right, maybe low. hes come a long way since 08

    @AgentPaulSmecker I'm aware of everything Lezak has done for USA relays, but unfortunately, previous achievements means little in that particular moment when he (and everyone else) has to live up to the expectations and provide a fast time if he wants to win.

    Not sure who will win, but that doesn't really matter - although we both have our preferences. You seem to be the one person, though, that doesn't actually attack a person for another point of view. Thank YOU!

  • @adamroflll
    @adamroflll 12 років тому

    oh, i think you're right. bernard announced he was retired after he didn't make the individual though, i think i read that somewhere.... oh well, and yeah the americans could take it too. they're all relay swimmers and they're all at 48-low in trials, so hopefully a couple will go 47. the reason i said australia is because in their trials, magnussen went 47.10 and roberts went 47.6 with the rest over their swimmers at 48-low

  • @adamroflll
    @adamroflll 12 років тому

    i think im gonna have to agree on that too. the 4x1 free relay is a tough one to judge though. adrenaline and spirit has a lot to do with sprinting, so really anything can happen with the top teams.

    What do you mean? His 48.04 effort in london was his fastest relay split over the last two years. In the 2010 pan pacs he went 48.12, and here in Shanghai he went 48.15, and a year after that he went 48.04. Lezak was 36 in London, how he went .08 of a second faster than a performance he did when he was 34 is amazing.

    @FruitarianSwimster Filho set the world record at the 2009 world champs in Rome in the Arena X-Glide, a full-body suit made entirely out of polyurethane. So he set it in a high-tech suit. Also it gives you more than that because Filho swam a 48.0 without the suit at these world champs.

You can say that impressive and other example is Tony Ervin who won an Olympic gold medal at 35 years old. Idk why people think if swimmer is older than 25 it’s too late?! Top 100 freestyler as Nathan Adrian always go under 47 second with anchor role.
      He got 46.97 at the same race, and 46.74 in 4x100 IM relay, although his best in individual event is 47.52, and his stable performances around 47.80

    @likac92009 wrong about Phelps best. at the 2008 olympics he led off with a 47.5 so this was not his best. Weber-Gale had gone a 47 in the olympics too and went a 48 in this... Lezak split a 46 in '08 and this was a 48. Adrian was the only one who actually did good. No offense to Lezak but he is just getting old and I think we may have been better off with Lochte on it.

    its all relative. with the differences youre expecting from relay starts magnussen and roberts are going 46 lows. eamon sullivan has the australian record with a 47.05, thats another 46 relay start. target would be the slowest for the australians with a 47 off a relay start. put magnussen roberts or sullivan in the first spot and theyre going 47 lows or by the olympics 46s. our relay isnt even in the talks yet. australians arent like the french. they wont choke

      It's Alain Bernard's fault, who swam on the wrong side of its line, giving his wave to leezak and gave him the opportunity to close in 46s. + Leveaux was first, you cannont anticipate the start like a takeover.
