I'm sorry that I'm a little late to the party here. But let me start off my saying that not only am I glad that this movie turned out to be vastly superior to the 2016 Suicide Squad film, but that it also successfully became one of the best comic book movies of all time! It's quite an achievement that this movie managed to provide some good commentary on America's Foreign Policy, while still being fun and spiritually-uplifting, rather than feeling the need to go down the route that Zack Snyder tries to take his superhero films! A film can take itself seriously without having to be "gloom, doom, and despair". "Serious" is not the same definition as "cynical"-despite what some people may believe. I'm so glad that not only were the performances and characterizations also spot-on, but also that it can be an example to set for future DC films, so that they hopefully no longer have to feel like they have to be exactly like Marvel, to find their own field of success.
No worries, we all have something else going on most of the time. I was excited for this movie, but I was blown away by the result. It is much better than 2016's Suicide Squad, so much so that it renders the 2016 movie unwatchable. I was never a big fan of it to begin with, but now it's a painful watch. There's honestly so much to chew on with this movie. I have a lot more to say. I knew that no matter what I said in this video that I wasn't going to be happy with it. Nothing I say can do it justice. There is a huge difference between serious and cynical. The Suicide Squad knew exactly where that line was and navigated it perfectly. This movie never strayed into the dangerous territory of being a cynical exercise in empty philosophy. This movie is truly remarkable. I can't praise it enough. I think DC is very much on their way to discovering their identity.
