Rumors. They are stories circulated with an uncertain or doubtful truth. There have been rumors in the NBA since the beginning of the league. When LeBron was making the decision in 2010, it wasn’t just the Heat he was rumored to be picking. But rumors often have a little bit of truth mixed in. Even without being a good team, the Warriors have remained in the spotlight, because of rumors. But what is the truth? What’s actually going on with the Warriors?
Curry is one of the greatest players ever, but that only puts him into the fire.
*To the point that a fantasy trade by Bleacher Report so heinous, so far fetched to get Steph Curry to the Lakers was viral news.*
Every one, every media source reacted to a trade that Had the Warriors giving Curry for Austin Reaves, Ben Simmons and two first round picks.
*Ben Simmons in 2024?*
Are we that starved of content that we need to make up story lines? Does the NBA community need drama to be entertained? The sad part is that it seems like the answer to both of those questions *is yes.*
*Now more than ever, we are reactionary and we get bored easily.*
We looked at his instagram bio and said, look he removed Warriors guard for Olympic Gold medalist. Reports about Curry wanting out and that he could stronghold the Warriors into getting what he wanted, reports about Curry wanting to play with LeBron,
all this content speculating when nothing is public nor are there any official reports and all of that in a matter of days was proven wrong when he extended his contract. And one of the main reasons it wasn’t longer was because of the over 38 rule, since Curry would turn 38 during his contract.
And with more and more reports picking every single word and action of Curry and the Warriors apart, The lies need to stop *and I’m here to set the record straight because for a long time, we’ve all been led astray.*
Titles starting with Warriors will trade Curry to the Lakers and just add the word prediction at the end so it’s technically true but the amount of clickbait is ridiculous. Could Curry get traded at some point? Yes! But can we talk about it when there’s actual substance, legitimate journalism and not sensationalism or takes? Apparently not because
In 2019, after the Warriors lost in the 2019 finals, after they lost Kevin Durant in free agency, and after Klay had a season ending injury, the Warriors were a bit of a mess. There were several videos and claims that the Warriors dynasty was over and fair. The Warriors were a mess and their luck looked like it just kept getting worse.
Steph broke his left hand just a few games into the season. The Warriors were a heavily talked about subject despite being one of the worst teams in the NBA, despite having all their players under contract, no talk of their big 3 going anywhere, purely off of rumors, and rumors were flying.
The timeline was for Curry to return to the court in 3 months, but then needed to be reevaluated.
Rumors of the Warriors holding Curry and Klay back to tank were strong both by official media outlets and fans saying that because Curry doesn’t have a cast and because he did a handshake with his daughter, that he was ready to go.
There were even UA-camrs saying that Klay and Steph were fooling the world, that by looking at Klay shooting in an open gym, that he’s healthy for an NBA game.
Hot takes were flying left and right, rather than rationally thinking it through, recency bias which has gotten stronger than ever was being used to spark controversy for the sake of views.
And creating controversy and drama is just another tactic like when ESPN’s ranking would come out and
It’s the equivalent to ESPN talking about LeBron and failing to mention other players, especially when there actually aren’t any story lines.
Before the tumultuous 2023 season with Draymond and Jordan Poole and apart from the last season of Kevin Durant, the Warriors were typically drama free.
Especially after 2019, the Warriors weren’t a team of contention for the next two seasons.
However, somewhere in 2019, the NBA and ESPN realized that Steph Curry was bringing in nearly double the views that LeBron was who was bringing nearly double the views of everyone else. They realized a little late that there was a bigger audience in social media for Curry than LeBron and ran with it.
It’s the reality of the league, certain players bring in more attention like Wembanyama vs Brunson, same game two insane performances and one has more than 5 times the views.
We have Gilbert Arenas trying to clip farm saying Curry isn’t generational.
*No seriously, Gilbert later said he knew the reaction it would get from the media…*

ESPN hasn't been relevant since the Warriors WEREN'T relevant.
The media is such a disgrace at this point. They're reduced down to trying to will trades into existence by repeating baseless claims and predictions on every TV segment they can. Any semi-star player who shows any amount of disappointment is immediately linked to the Lakers or another contender with the most absurd trade propositions imaginable. The oversaturation of this type of content is tiresome and honestly hurts the product as a whole.
They had two choices:
1. Continue to tell truthful, good stories and articles
2. Clickbait for more ad revenue

I love basketball and used to watch this channel a lot. This video popped up and I was immediately reminded why I stopped watching. The same damn song being used every video, intro and out. Like man I wanna hear your voice and the content but I cannot listen to that song basically ever again.
This is nothing new, the only difference is way more ppl have access to share content w/the public & consumers have more acces.
