    So glad I found this. I started piano after 52 years of hiatus, and after my mom died and I retired, I started playing again. I'm learning this as a tribute to my mother who died of ALS. Her valiant journey to embrace her life with love, fortitude and upmost bravery. So many are robbed from this horrific disease. What an astonishing performance that I will always remember.

      Dear Bev, thank you for these moving words. I really hope and I am sure that Brahms will bring you some solace and build a bridge to where ever your mother is ! Take good care of yourself and wishing you much joy with this heartwarming music. Beatrice

    Thank you for the underlying story on Brahms' affection for Clara Schumann.

      My pleasure - nice to see that the description sometimes helps! ( understanding the context of a composition also always helps me to get into a work!)

    This whole performance is wonderful, but the second ballade, the andante at 4:54, mesmerized me. The start is utterly gorgeous: gentle, slow, emotional and totally heart stopping. Then there is burst of vibrant energy in the middle. And then that ballade ends with a part like the start. The first part is truly special, and my favorite of this whole performance. Just beautiful. Thank you.

      I personally revere the fourth Ballade, as being the most visionary of all. I can barely imagine it was written by a 21 years old man: the whole piece is drowning in dizziness and in darkness. But you are right, the second is amazing and singing :)

    Une interprétation habitée, mystique, infiniment personnelle : du Brahms comme je l'aime !!!

    • @BeatriceBerrut
      @BeatriceBerrut  4 роки тому +1

      Merci de votre message. Cette oeuvre est effectivement particulièrement mystique, et on la penserait plutôt écrite par un vieux sage que par un jeune homme de 21 ans...

      @@BeatriceBerrut Exactement, Béatrice Berrut !
      En revanche - et c'est tout à votre honneur - tous les pianistes n'en saisissent pas cet aspect, et donc, n'en restituent rien...
      Pour moi, jouer Brahms en gommant, volontairement ou non, cet aspect, revient à en donner une vision très amputée...
      En restituant ce mysticisme, au contraire, le tout devient d'une richesse confondante, infinie.

    Waou! Bien plus qu’une balade cette ballade sous les doigts de BB...un merveilleux voyage...emmené par ce moment de grâce, de grâce incarnée qui m’emporte ...je m’envole... merciiii !

    Ich habe diese vier Bramsstücke schon von vielen Interpreten gehört, aber was Sie daraus machen ist atemberaubend. Besonders der Mittelteil der 4. Ballade ist extrem schwierig "auszudrücken" und Sie machen das meisterlich. Das Sie DIE Brahmsinterpretin derzeit sind haben Sie ja schon mit der 3. Brahmssonate bewiesen. Schade, dass ich Sie so spät entdeckt habe und hoffe, noch viel von Ihnen zu hören. Vielen Dank!

      Danke für Ihre Nachricht, die mich sehr gefreut hat! Ja, der Mittelteil der 4. Ballade ist wahnsinnige und visionäre Musik. Was eine damals noch so junge Seele damit geschafft hat, ist atemberaubend! Mit herzlichen Grüßen, Beatrice

    i remember the very first time i heard these, played by Radu Lupu, and where i was physically and where my life was at the time....the next time i heard them were fine recordings of Gould and Perahia (played separately!) each as fine in their own way.......and now i just read in a book on the history of languages by Nicholas Oster that what's now Austria and Switzerland were the heartland of the ancient Celts...who even then wore plaid, utterly unrelated fun fact....Bravo! This, after all, is how I prefer Brahms...

    So far I thought you are a Pro pianist for Liszt & Bach pieces, I guess I was wrong and I need to add Johannes Brahms to this list too 👍👌🏻
    God bless you and please keep sharing your performances and inspire others 🙏🤲

    I remember me that day that I was coming home with the record "the Brahms I love" by Rubinstein with this great music, perhaps more than 40 years ago. And I remember me that day that I first hear you playing, that Debussy Arabesque in 1998. Always a joy!

    Uh, I have just read the enclosed story, very hard it must had been for Brahms to live his destiny. But we are lucky today for having his beautiful music that came out of these misfortunate events. And yes, it is enormously important to consult such sources when approaching such compositions to perform. Beatrice does this with the glittering devotion.

Brahms how i like it...bravo...hope you can record at least for YT some of your Scriabin...he's another one of those late Romantics I struggle with sometimes...so would love to hear how you speak his language....

    ヴイオラは弦楽器でヴアイオリンに比べて少し低音を奏じる。ヴイオラと言う花がアル。今ブラ-ムスの「4曲のバラ-ド」を聴きながら花の「ヴイオラ」を思い出しています。曲のイメ-ジとして4本のヴイオラの花が有ればこの曲にfitするかも知れない・。

    le cadre noir, les touches, et vos mains blanches, relèvent le classicisme visuel de vos interprétations. Tout pour ne pas nous détourner de l'essentiel, la musique, tout en l'incarnant.

    • @BeatriceBerrut
      @BeatriceBerrut  4 роки тому

      Effectivement, je conçois le rôle de l'interprète comme un canal de transmission, et par conséquent il me semble opportun que le visuel ne distraie pas trop de la musique...
