Thanks, I’ll never be able to unsee that MJ impersonation 😂
Just saw it. I think I peed a little
I'll never be able to hear the word Suoana without seeing that visual 😂
He somehow manages to get more cringe every week.
He even put 1 glove on! 🤣
Better than I could do…
Trogly must be high today... great MJ impersanation....
for 3k 4 piece top seems outrageous
Honestly? Does it matter? You can barely see the differenfe and the wood looks great
@@tavicotavio
Yes... it's a premium instrument it should have premium specs.
in acoustic and classical guitar world this will actually get you crucified....
Although the pbass looks cool gotta admit
@@TemkaUwU yeah i agree 3000 dollars is a lot, way above anything i could ever afford, but i really dont see why that matters, is it really just because thats the standard for a expensive guitar?
@@tavicotavio yeah imo if you are paying this much you should get what you pay for. I'm also nowhere near buying a guitar of that price but I'm still picky with 4-500$ guitars
i really think he miscounted. spruce is really stripe-y and with the stain, it could get hard to tell what's a seam. The exception is if they couldn't find alpine spruce stock large enough to cover a whole top, but they build cellos out of this wood, so I doubt that is the case.
“Suona” means “it plays” in Italian. Since the guitar has an Italian spruce top (like Stradivari’s violins), I guess that’s the reasoning behind the name.
it is also means swamp in finnish
Two Fender Fridays in a row? We are blessed!
I pushed 'like' on this specifically for the Michael Jackson impression. That guitar looks awesome. I really wanted one of those Eric Johnson thine line strats for a while. So cool.
9.5" is hardly a vintage radius. It's on like 95% of all current Fender output.
Those cases are originally the EJ strat cases. I have a Pale Moon strat. The case is so pretty. Love the interior!
These are made from not only Italian spruce, but spruce from the Val Di Fiemme, which is the valley where Stradivari sourced the spruce for his famous stringed instruments. These trees came down in a severe storm in 2018 and the wood was saved during the pandemic from being chipped up and going to landfills.
That is so cool. One of the few guitars that makes me wish I could live a few centuries to play the truly aged version.
01:28 Worst. Trogly. Scene. Ever. 😄
Insanely over priced! I love my Fenders but DAM, thats way too high for what it is.
Yeah when's the last time we've seen a review that 99% of the people watching can hope to afford?
It seems high, and I'm not currently in the market for a $3k guitar, but there are plenty of people these days apparently willing and able to pay $5k-$8k+, so for a low production run guitar, $3k doesn't seem unreasonable for a moderately fancy guitar with some interesting specs.
@@pulaski1the thing is though, Schecter or esp could make the same guitar for under $2000
At least Fender understands high end guitar pricing. Gibson charges $5,000 for the same LP Custom they've sold for years that's not even a limited edition or special run. And even higher for a "based on" 59 reissue etc. This is why I love Fender, way more variety, yet you can still get vintage reissues for those who want them, and they aren't trying to charge you a first born for a price.
@lamalwaysright Honda arguably makes a better car than BMW, but there's plenty of people who fork out for a BMW, and personally if I was buying, I'd pay the extra for a Fender.
Nice to see Fender keeping the cost down by not having fretboard inlays, would have been four grand otherwise.
😂😂😂😂😂
Just found an apparently very rare Fender Japan Thinline Jazzmaster from around 2011 on Reverb. No f-hole, but it’s still chambered out and it looks really nice. Out of my price range, but it was nice to learn about something I never knew existed.
They did a thinline Jag too. Magical guitar.
Sometimes your clean tone is very thin to my ears no matter what guitar you are reviewing. This guitar has great, fat, clear, clean tone. sounds great with distortion too.
Over priced.
3k no thanks not my style of Fender
Production level at custom shop price?🎸🥺
Agreed, crazy. You could probably get a luthier to custom build you a thin line strat with premium hardware for that price or not much more.
@@gdawgs101It's the brand on the headstock that matters.
@@BukanIbuMu Yeesh, you must not be a very good player...
@@gdawgs101 you can't see the sarcasm in my comment?
We like to bash on Gibson's QC but can we talk about the tooling marks on that fretboard?
Was that a chip on the first fret?
No arm carve or any effort to remedy this like a radiused top is an absolute dealbreaker - almost had it though.
Naah ' Strat chambered with an F hole ' Yikes ' ...sounds great though and a variety of tone too. The case harks back to the early 60s with the Blonde tolex that adorned the amps 62-63, it was also used on the Fender cases for the then top of the range Jazzmaster and just then introduced Jaguar.
Price? Seriously, Fender!!!!
But: good news, y'all!
I would expect a Squier to appear forthwith.....priced around $600 ....just chill out for a bit.
Congratulations David.
Interesting specs. Beautiful guitar.
What happen to the scope camera for semi hollows?
They look cheap AF. The combination of the finish, the matching headstock with the truss rod acces painted over, the balck pickguard, etc. Idk, I don't like them at all
Yeay!! Fender Friday. A nice break from the all mighty Les Paul's indeed!!
Rip off
I was all about this guitar till you pointed out that it's got a freakin' 4-piece top...charging $3,000 for that is just gross 🤮
Nice! I think the Jazz Bass is the coolest, but too rich for my blood.
1:27 Dude, wut? 😂
But seriously, 3k on a guitar that's not Custom shop? Nah.
That neck is beautiful. Nice quarter-sawn wood. I'd take it.
3k$??? pass... I'd rather get the Aerodyne for a quarter of a price.
Quick question guys - does anyone ever use anything but the neck pup when playing their Strats? I've owned one for over 30 years & I can't remember the last time I moved off the neck, it just sounds so damn good lol.
I think it’s a nice Strat, but nothing real special? I do like the Ebony fingerboard the spruce top doesn’t really make too big of a difference. The pick up sound pretty thin to me, but then again, that might just be the mic? I think it’s outrageously overpriced. If you’re going to go that route, I would get the Brent Mason tele and get about 10 times more on it. But still a very nice guitar.
i genuinely dont see the logic behind keeping the ugly vintage style sticker logo, its not a traditional guitar in the sightest so why keep that spec? maybe it has to do with painted headstock?
That's one weird 335, but i can dig it...
I wish Fender did the matching headstock more often
Nice to see some Fenders instead those crappy Gibson instruments :)
the f hole and not fret dots kill this guitar to me. 3000 bucks i dont think so
$3k? Ouch!
And for a fretboard as rough as that one! That’s a no for me!
I played one of these a few weeks ago. To be honest, even if it was lovely, it was only ok. Full disclosure, though, I’m a Tele guy.
Pretty, and it sounds nice, but $3K seems a bit much.
I burst out into laughter at 1:28 😂😂
Please don't do that again you may hurt yourself 😂
Nice to see another Fender Friday guitar! This is a cool Strat imho, congrats to its new owner!
2nd Fender friday in a row... awesome
No piezo? Shame
This guitar is crying for some Humbuckers
Don’t ever do that again…….
A hard tail HSS might help the acoustical and electric qualities. I'd prefer a modern F hole and some dots personally. Some of that wood is pretty choice, that streak knot will get cooler with age. If it was my new purchase I'd be stressing over the dinged ebony at the first fret though.
They remind me of the matching Fender Elite Walnut (Gold) series from 1983-84. Fender had three very unique guitars--Elite Tele, Strat, and P-bass II -all had active electronics, noise free pups, a treble boost. The Fender strat had three button pup selector. Gold hardware, special ATA gold cases…very cool series
The fretboard seems chipped /dinged at the first fret.
Trippin askin for 3 bands
I really like it! It does have some projection acoustically over a normal solid strat imo. I learned and grew up playing a strat, so I am pretty stoked to see a thin line version being made. I agree the price is out there but it's very different in construction and I can see it warranting somewhat of a premium. Hopefully it is successful and becomes a standard with more standard pricing. I think it is really great! The pups sound great as well. Thanks to the guy that NGD'd this and you for sharing it.
🤘❤🤘
And a strat bridge is notoriously ice picky. You learn to tone knob it.
I like it with dirt a little bright for me clean. Just curious do you change amp settings for different guitars?
Decent color. I like the headstock. Hate the neck, really don't like not having dots or bar markers on the neck. And I agree way too expensive, won't be buying one of those anytime soon.. peck
Neck pickup sounds very dull.
Thanks for giving us a break from Gibsons more often recently
Thank David!
@@Trog Thanks David :) But seriously: I like you, I like your show, I like guitars. But I don’t click anymore on a video about a Les Paul. Not only are Les Pauls not very interesting guitars because they are all so very similar. But also most of the Gibsons on your channel nowadays are collectors items for very wealthy boomer lawyers and stockbrokers. And that’s not who I am. But keep up the good work anyway.
Looks like a good day to be fender Friday.
And only $3,000!! 🥹 😅 😂 🤣 🥲 😀
Yeah and squiers are 500 hundred, epis are 1500. Gibson just released a production line SG thats something like 4 g's. Nothing surprises me anymore.
fender usa are nitro inports are poly
That Thinline Jazz bass is handsome, but I would be concerned about neck dive.
Pricing is so stypid on that.
4/10ths???????? bwahahahahaha
Okay, now the next step would be if Fender would license from BMG the kind of electronics that Brian May pioneered for the Red Special and Incorporated it into a model like this. I imagine Brian wouldn't feel bad to know how closely Fender was trying to get within their own product line to emulating his homemade guitar.
I don't have problems with the many 4-5,000$ guitars on the market but man.... it was only like 4 years ago that the mass produced custom shop strats were $3000-3500. For only the thinline build, custom style wiring/pickup and ebony board $3000 seems like at least $500 too much for this one.
Fender Japan had a Thinline Strat they made a couple of years ago. A friend of mine got one in cherry red, it has a double bound body (no contour at all), two humbuckers, a bound rosewood fretboard with block inlays. Interesting instrument for sure.
Omg on mj
Dude that MJ thing was unexpected and hard to watch 🤣 hilarious but damn haha
That doesnt look like a $3k stratocaster....I'd pay $1500 for that tops
That fretboard looked so nasty and rough! I love fenders but this one looks terrible
Interesting. I love the clean look of non inlay fretboards.
That's pretty damn cool
thats ugly
4 board top, deep grooves gouged into the neck at the 8-10th frets. Would not pay more than $1k for that guitar.
interesting review. very inspired accoustic demo! ✨ says another “david” 😉👌🏼
A beauty!! Do more Fenders.
Hey Trogly, can you make a video about the Fender left-handed Dick Dale Signature Stratocaster a.k.a. "The Beast"? Dick Dale is one of my idols when it comes to surf music and heavy metal rock so I'll be glad if you do it. Thank you from Vietnam.
P.S. You can play it like Jimi Hendrix
Yay Fender friday 🎉
Tried a new one out today.. looks very ,nice, feels good, but the setup from the factory was poor- very high action, trem not set properly. Plugged in, it sounded thin and weak compared to a couple of other Strats off the wall at the store. Couldn't justify the price and looked elsewhere.
4/10s of an inch... ah, nice that you are catering to both metric and imperial lovers at the same time, while providing absolutely nobody with an intuitive understanding of how thick that actually is: 10mm...
Z is for late.
Ebony fretboard with no inlays? Yessir I’m a fan.
I’m glad the control cavity half of the body is chambered. I figured it was lame and mostly for looks and just the F hole half.
And gj Fender wiring the bridge to a tone pot.
I just got this guitar at the new year. It is the most comfortable strat I have ever played. I have always played a 69 telecaster thinline reissue and really like the 7.25 radius. So the compound neck just feels good to me.
I think there is supposed to be something very special about Italian spruce, I don't really know. If someone could fill me in, I would greatly appreciate that.
Also, does anyone else have anything from this Suona line? If so, let me know what you think about yours.
4 piece top for 3000....what a cheek...why not a 2 piece ash top ?..
Who needs a Suona in the Antigua finish? OK nobody.😂😂😂
This is the most expensive production level non signature model Fender at the moment.
Why would you get this over a ultra luxe or ultra?
Missed opportunity for them to not include a piezo system.
That would fit nicely on a guitar like this
@@Trogfor a standard US production guitar, commanding Custom Shop prices, it really should have been standard.
You ever seen a Japanese HMT Tele?
That's an oddball for you
Fender Friday! Nice fiddle!
Oooh Suona!
like "my sharona" ?
Price is blown, especially for the bass
a strat thinline...!!??...now i've seen it (nearly) all....cheers...
Very nice video to know this beautiful guitar. 🎉
I like this one better than the Eric Johnson thinline because the f-hole is more towards the back.
That MJ impression was hilarious 3kk
It’s a joke for a guitar at this price to have 4 pieces top!!!
hate how sticker-like the fender logo looks on the headstock
A flat top strat looks so cursed idk why lmao
7.20 they should have did?😂
I just hate the sunburst, I love the idea.
