Megan You sweet young gal. See I used the word gal. That let's you know I'm not a young Mom. I love you tube. I felt the same when I started hearing about "self care"on every channel I subscribe to. I felt oh know! Just more on self centeredness. I very much appreciate your take on it, and how you expressed time for your faith, and the simple pleasures the world has to care for ourselves. May I offer the one I have everyday. I prepare a breakfast tray each evening while I'm cleaning up after dinner. So every morning I get up, make my coffee, toast, fruit, yogurt, whatever, put it on the tray and take the tray to the prettiest spot in my house and just enjoy the indulgence of being served on a tray. It make a me feel like a queen. Ladies try it! It's just a small effort with big impact on starting you day Sincerely Lisa
@@mk8784 Your comment was super! My feeling also.YT and FB have become a forum for lousy rude comments. Bless those who have nothing nice to say and in a round about way delivery as to describe their real feelings.
@@majoroldladyakamom6948 Megan is such a wise, kind woman of faith that I know she will not respond negatively to you in any way. She will respect your opinion, unlike how you treated her. I'm glad you're saying this about self care = self first, self only. There are so many moms, young women with UA-cam channels that are all about themselves, their shopping, their looks, their outfits, their EVERYTHING. Ugh it's so tiring. And the consumerism!!! Its almost obsene to me. It seems to me they do so much shopping to try to fulfil the emptiness that they feel despite spending so much time focusing on themselves. It's sad actually but that's why I love your channel. When feeling down try service to others, it helps. Btw the walk you took for yourself....good for you! That's a great idea & you don't need to be teaching or entertaining the children all the time. They were fine & it helped you win-win. Thanks for this vlog... You do a good job.
Thanks Megan! I just took a long hot bubble bath, rubbed my favorite true blue spa shea cashmere hand cream all over my 62 year old hands and arms. Now I'm baking a chocolate cake and 2 cherry pie. It's going to be a great day!
One of my favorite self care tips is being aware of my rate. What I mean is, am I in a rush or am I going through everything at an even pace. I manage mental illness without medication. I noticed that I would rush around trying to get things done and it would cause me to be very anxious. Then when one of my kids would (inevitably) start whining or something like that, I would lose my patience. I've found that intentionally slowing down makes me more able to handle things. My favorite tip you gave was about clothing. Not too tight, not too loose. Comfortable clothing makes a big difference (there's lots of studies on how it affects us psychologically). Also, my hair makes a big difference too. It needs to be pulled back off my face or I feel like I can't do things easily. Love this channel! Have a great day Megan!
I heard somewhere that people who have a hobby live longer and have less chance of developing dementia. I crochet and I am taking a sewing class. I get so much out of it! It’s almost a form of mindfulness. I also get joy from giving what I’ve made to others. I also love to walk and organise my cupboards and drawers! Can’t beat organisation to clear my head 😊
My precious mother, who passed away 7 years ago, said that we think about ourselves too much. And I agree. If we think about our problems all the time it can cause depression. Also, it is wriiten to think on things that are good. God knew we would need that. We definitely have to recharge too just like Jesus did. Great video❤
Childhood trauma can also cause depression. Not focusing on it doesn't help, therapy helps. Maybe we are thinking about two different types of depression :)
Though I am not a mom yet at this stage of my life, I enjoy watching your "mom content" because it makes me excited about the mom life that I will once hopefully have. Best wishes to you! ❤️
I definitely agree with the dressing tip! Whenever I feel comfortable in my clothes I feel like it just helps me to be positive and not feel "trapped". I love watching your videos even though I'm not a Mom yet! Thank you for sharing!💕
The baking self care idea is seriously exactly how I feel. My dad always asks me “why do u bake so much?”, because we have a small family and I mostly give away the treats. I just find peace in being able to be in complete control of something thats also relaxing and just like you said, instant results! I’m still planning on making your apple pie. Much love! Xoxo
The hand lotion idea is not silly at all - I'm a teacher currently and as you know it can be chaotic! Sneaking off for two minutes during lunch or recess to put on some hand cream/lip balm/grab a breath mint is refreshing. Love it x
Megan, I am soooo blessed to have found your channel in my recommendations!! You are such a kind, beautiful, intelligent soul, so wise beyond your years!! I'm old enough to be your mom & my three girls are 19, 14 & 10, but I'm learning how to be a better mother, homemaker & daughter of Christ by watching your wonderful channel! Thank you for sharing your life with us, Megan!! God bless you & your precious family!!!
Loved this! The sweet time with your little ones and the sit down. When we moved I purposely didn’t get a dishwasher. I love the extra cupboard space, there’s the soothing hot sudsy water, I have a gorgeous view with birds bunnies squirrels etc, I’m making my kitchen into, as you said, a room my family wants to be in and I joke it’s guaranteed me time because when it’s time to do dishes everyone disappears lol. When I’m stressed I like to read Prov 31 virtuous wife. Sounds like an “I’ll never measure up” stressor but it actually calms me reminds me I’m growing in Christ and he loves me with all my short comings.
i really love your videos. I am a non-denominational Christian. i really like videos like this. it reminds me to not forget my time with God. i often forget to do my devotionals on you version and i really need to get more disciplined and do my devotionals regularly. You are an inspiration Megan. We may have our doctrinal differences, but our similarity is that we both love Jesus with all of our hearts. You are an amazing role model and I love watching how you mother your kids. I haven't had any children yet, so I have been doing some devotionals on courtship and dating and watching videos like this helps me to learn about motherhood and prepare myself for motherhood. Thanks Megan for all you do on youtube.
I totally agree with you Megan, I love the warmer tone flooring with the brick in the living room! Thanks for sharing the progress, it’s fun to see you & how great of a mom you are! ❤️❤️
Love this video and the practical tips you offer! I like to wash and dry several loads of laundry during the day and then have them ready to fold when the kids go to bed. I make a cup of tea and watch an episode of my favorite tv series as I fold. It is productive and feels indulgent at the same time since I rarely have the tv all to myself. Part of self-care can be controlling our mind-set. My husband leaves for work about three hours before my kids wake up and I like to pack his lunch and see him out the door. I could complain about having to wake up so early, but I choose to see it as a gift. We get a few moments alone each morning. Then I have several hours of “me time”. I can do my devotions, exercise in the living room, take a hot shower, do my nails, or just start on the day’s chores so I feel a little ahead of the game. Most mornings, by the time the kids are awake, I feel productive and ready to start our school day. 🙂
Megan I am a grandmom taking care of my grand daughter almost full time. Its refreshing to see someone your age loving God with your whole heart. I also enjoy hearing a person with good grammar. For instance saying anyway instead of the usual “anyways”. You & Lynette Yoder are so good about that. Take care!
This is my favorite video of yours so far! Love seeing the children, you playing the piano, (beautiful) and hearing a sweet young mama point folks to Jesus! You're so kind with how you present all that you say. Great testimony! ❤
This is probably my most favorite (and needed) video of yours! The giving and the worrying never stops (mom of 4, 14yrs-4yrs). You have some great ideas... thank you!
your baking is my lawn-mowing! (or, it was before I lived in an apartment) - it's the satisfaction of instantly seeing the results of your work. Plus, there's the physical exertion, the smell of freshly-cut grass, getting grubby (and, in this case, I don't even mind the smell of the exhaust).
This year has been a year of learning for me. About myself about how to be a stay at home mom and wife. My self care lately has been baby quilts. Every time I see someone on Facebook are having a baby I make a special scrap quilt for them (with the permission of the parents of course) and send it off in the mail. I’m being creative, giving but I’m also using what I have and that’s really important to me. Another great video! Love it.
Your kids are getting so big so fast! You are so blessed and I so enjoy you having fun with your kids and life in general. I’m not in your season of life anymore, but it’s so sad to me to hear moms and parents in general complain about their babies and kids. That’s the easy part! Enjoy the babies! Also- I had an old Kitchen Aid dishwasher and it was amazing! We had to replace it and the new ones never last long. I so enjoy your videos! You’re a true Proverbs woman and stay strong in Him! ❤️
Yes babies are fun! But I think some people might have really hard babies so I will never judge. But living with an attitude of complaining is never right!
Hi Megan, I read all kinds of books before I started homeschooling. John Holt began writing about unschooling and he made so much sense to me. we did a combo of unschooling and basics. the unschooling idea just took the pressure off and allowed me to enjoy the process. God bless.
Megan I would love to see a Christian video on how you go about disciplining your kids. Does time out work for you? Positive reinforcement? What do you do? My kids don't seem to listen lol, I'm trying to figure out the best method. You seem like such a GREAT mom, such motivation!
I've been applying serum and lotion to my face every night and that makes me feel so good! It's something little but it's "me" time. Nice video I love how sweet you are.
Great for this pastor’s wife .... pouring out all the time leaves an empty vessel so definitely need to sit at the feet of Jesus .....an empty vessel can cause what my therapist calls “ compassion fatigue “.....great suggestions!
Oh how I remember those days as a mom with littles! Mine are all teenagers now, but I had 4 that were 5 and under!!!! Getting outside/ going for a walk was my go to option when days were stressful and kids were cranky. The change in scenery always seemed to do the trick! On a side note....check out the planners from In the Leafy Treetops. I've used it for a few years now and it's great for keeping you, your family and your home organized.
I am 54 with two older children and I loved your ideas! I love sitting down with a good book and a hot cup of tea as a little treat to myself! Love your vlogs Megan!!
I'm also a 59 year old Grandma, but love the recipes and ideas, decorating, and sewing on your channel. When my children were young, I would hire the girl that lived next door to watch my kids in the front yard, while I rode my horse around the farm for an hour! It was my way of self care and recharging my batteries...:)
Thank you so much for your videos. You plant little seeds of inspiration in our lives. My children are now grown. I miss them so dearly. I wish i could have had these tips when i was raising them. I will still implemente some of these to help in my life. Thanks again!
I agree with you about the floor, Megan! I think with the cool tone brick, the warmer wood flooring option would be better to richen up the colors in the room!!
Great video! I love all the self care tips and yes, it is very important to take care of you also. Your stress doesn’t show in your face at all. Before you even said that, I was already going to comment on how beautiful your skin is. So natural and your cheeks are shiny and it just looks so nice. I was going to ask what you use on your face, but I know there is a video that addresses that. I think I remember you saying you change it up. The kids are so adorable and look so healthy and happy❤️. The music is so good for them also! Thanks again!
Hi Megan, This was such a sweet video. I’m a Catholic mama and grandma, with kids your age. If I were younger and lived near you, we’d probably be friends. We think alike on many things. I think you’re right that there is too much focus on self in our culture. Jesus taught that “he who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it”. If we all took this to heart, we’d have less anger and depression in our society. Just my thoughts. Keep up the good work. You’re a wonderful, joy-filled Mother. Your children are blessed to have you.
self care for me is vitamins , doctors appointments , showers, stretching etc Also, self awareness and analysis helps us grow personally ....and allows us to serve , it is my self analysis that allows me to live a life of service. i could not agree more that we benefit from serving others . oh and sometimes self care is cleaning my kitchen while playing my mom videos (this channel included)
i would go with the grey flooring and paint the bricks a dark grey green - however, I bet the orange toned one would match better with the rest of the house. it is very pretty, too! can't wait to see it finished :)
the unschooling method or unmethod :D fascinates me, too. but, i love traditional education methods and structure, as well. think it is totally ok to blend the two - so maybe unschooling part of the day, week or year and doing things like math and handwriting other times. i think a lot of homeschoolerss like us unschool on Fridays - we just don't call it that. maybe unschoolers would not consider that unschooling, though. like how classical learning builds structured foundations in the grammar and logic stages while kids' brains are working at those levels and prepares them to make their own learning paths later. it is as if it is to prepare people to be life long unschoolers after school. really enjoy your videos. thanks for making them! and thanks for sharing the sheet roast or whatever it is called - definitely will give that a try!
Love this video! I’ve gotten sick of hearing about ‘self care’ but I love how you pointed everyone to Christ! And yes to the baking! I definitely do that when I’m overwhelmed and stressed. And cleaning. I put in earbuds with my favorite music and clean away! Thank you for sharing your heart!
Raising my hand here....we homeschooled/unschooled all 5 of our kiddos all the way through. And all 5 of them have gone on to college/graduated...our youngest is a sophomore worship major right now.😉 We loved it!!
Just wanted to say thank you for your videos. Our family was/is going through a very tough season and your channel has been like a bright, relaxing and inspiring light!
So we have grey floors in out church’s nursery, and you cannot see ANYTHING! After we mop, you can’t tell if it’s dry or still wet or if a kid spilt something. It’s not my favorite lol
You are so wise! Hand lotion is the best! We all hold a lot of tension there, plus a free massage ! Feels great! Your points were “on point”. Thank you! P.S. you play the piano with feeling, just like my Mom did. I miss her madly, but you brought me joy and thoughts of her when you played! Keep your playing in your videos please!
Yes! They do not build any appliance like they used to. It’s so sad! I still have my washer and dryer that I bought over 20 years ago, going strong. Meanwhile, we’ve replaced every five year old appliance in our house.
......... Now that my toddler takes a nap, I will make myself a cup of coffee and sit down all alone. Normally I would do my cleaning or cooking but thank you for encouraging to take some me time............. Blessings from Germany
19:03 Meghan can you put a photo or link to what the writing on the canvas behind you says… looking for something exactly like that myself.🙏🏻 Love your content!!🙏🏻
Thank You so much for the link for modest clothes link “inheritco” that you have mentioned... i am a Muslim conservative woman and this link has helped me a lot. Thank You.
I really enjoyed the self care video. You spoke well about it with understanding and sensitivity. Prayers for you foot, I had a terrible plantar fasciitis when I was younger. Coupled with a heel spur, it was like stepping on a nail when I walked. Worse in the mornings. I did the stretches, rolled bottles of ice water under my foot, wore supportive shoes ( helped a little, walking bare feet was the worse pain) but nothing helped. Eventually I had a little surgery where they cut the side of my foot, went in and filed that spur down; once I healed I’ve been blessed with no more pain. So I understand your discomfort, for me it was constant toward the end and I just needed to get er done! Take care, God Bless you and your little family.
Oh dear that sounds way worse than me. I have a coalition with two bones so the pain isn't super bad it's just chronic and reoccurring. I will have to have surgery at some point, but not sure when!
Nah it was easy to endure with the support of my husband and help of my sons. It was all those years walkin them hard hospital floors in ER, ICU 12 hr shifts at night. Takes its toll. One of my favorite things now is to walk on the lawn bare feet. Life’s little blessings. .
This is an amazing video! I love it that you play the piano for Evonnie and Fletcher.....I began lessons at 4 yrs old at the comments of my paternal GMA who told my parents that at 2-3 yrs old my "banging" on her piano showed promise and a lot of talent!! I took lessons until I was married at almost 20 yrs old and voice lessons from 12 yrs old until I married as well. I minored in Music in college. Funny you mention being frustrated and would get on the piano and "pound away" relieving those frustrations trait away! I had some undiagnosed medical issues as a child and children bullied me relentlessly.....often when I came home from school, I would sit down to play and all those frustrations of the day would melt away..and soon I was playing happy songs and enjoying myself and making my mom & dad happy while listening to me.(Often they would fall asleep when I played and jokingly I wondered if they went to sleep because they didn't want to listen to my piano playing!! I might add that when medical technology evolved, I was properly diagnosed. My parents spend the first 5-10 yrs of my life trying to find out the medical issues I had.....and when CT-scans came into technology.....the issue was solved. (more on that another time). I too am a mom of 4, and married to my soulmate for 28.5 yrs old his untimely death at 48 yrs old. You're videos are much better than any of the other "moms" I follow! My mom had a friend that took an hour a day for herself no matter what EVERY day...and she raised 4 kids in the late 40's 50's & 60's!!! You're right, you need self-care every day! God Bless you and your family Megan! :)
I love your videos! I’m not a Christian or a mom but I agree with most of your views on what self care should be. I think it’s been marketed by companies to sell products when really all you need to do to practice self care is feed your body healthy foods, move your body, be polite to others, nourish your relationships, and set yourself up for success by managing your behaviors, reactions, and finances with thoughtfulness. As long as you’re doing those things everything else is the cherry on top of your sundae; not necessary but an extra bit of sweetness.
My 1 1/2 year old daughter heard me watching your video from the living room and it got to the part where you were playing old McDonald on the piano and my daughter started clapping along giggling 😂❤ so cute. She doesn't watch your videos but she has caught some here and there (I like to enjoy your videos with my breakfast) anyways she always lights up when she sees the kids.
YES!!! De-stress baking!! I have been a stress baker/stress cooker for YEARS! I make freezer meals, cookies, pies, cakes, etc. then the sweets get gifted to others which makes me feel good all over again after baking.
Oh Megan! What a wonderful reminder to stop and put the to-do list aside for a moment to BAKE!! Keeps the family happy and full and helps our mind refresh! :)
Megan, your walk was at the Franklin Marshal College, it's so lovely....and in the city, when you go there, it's so quite and calming. My son went to college there. Enjoy you channel very much.
Ah, I remember those blessed times when all 3 kids took a nap at the same time. Now that they are 20, 18, and 16, I can take a nap and they do whatever it is they do.
You are such an inspiration. I am autistic and i struggle w taking care of myself yet i love caring for others. I am engaged and cant get married because my spouse and i are both disabled and can not survive on a single part time income and i would lose my ssi. That being said i thank God for my disability benefits. It hurts me to think i maY never be married and i secretly long for children but i will depend on the lord to point out my way. I try to be my best for my husband to be and we live w his ailing grandfather and i care for him and act as homemaker for our family which includes two little dogs and a parrot. I dont sleep well and i pray the lord will transform me. I got an instant pot and that helps me feel like im providing healthy meals for my loved ones even if i dont sleep a wink. I want tp be peaceful and appreciative. I thank God for my wonderful husband to be.
It's so interesting to listen to your videos and to see how God has made each one of us so different!! For instance, baking would NOT be very therapeutic for me!! Baking usually does just the opposite for me as in making me very frustrated! I weave baskets for therapy!! There's nothing better than seeing a beautiful basket freshly woven!! It just makes me feel good!! But I really love how you put the focus on loving others and Jesus and what that will do for our self-worth!! I love your videos, keep them coming! And btw, I love your sunroom!! I would LOVE to have a room like that to weave in!!
@Rhonda’s View , I rather doubt we are related as my husbands family is pretty small. They also come from Minnesota. I know there are lots of Zooks in PA that we aren't related to. Maybe if we go back 10 generations......but not any recent!!
Thank you for being so encouraging always!! I agree with you about focusing too much on self care can become an issue. I really enjoyed your suggestions! I also find enjoyment sitting down and playing the piano or violin, so you're not alone there :)
Love, love, love this video, Megan thanks so much for doing this! I too have wondered about the whole "self care" thing, but also agree us Mama's need to take care of ourselves or we can't care for our people. I love some of your ideas! I enjoy an occasional night out with a group of friends, it's so up lifting and encouraging. I walk with my kiddos some too. And I love baking, it's my stress reliever!
Thanks for the inspiration...AGAIN 😊💗when baking cookies, research for healthy recipes with almond flour and then u can eat them without feeling mom guilt 😍
Ruth Ann Glick yess!! I use sprouted flour (which is a tad bit “stiffer” than all purpose) but find that if I switch out the sugar for maple syrup the results are very close to original (and much healthier).
We love Cortland applesauce!!! Always so pretty and pink and we never add any sugar. Yes, keep your dishwasher if you can! They so don't work as great anymore! Beautiful music, playing! My daughter has a set of balloons gifted her for her birthday last year in Nov. They are very small but still have some air in them. She's trying to see if they'll last til her next birthday. They are small and in her drawer now but still some air in them!!! I would have never guessed!!! I needed this as I need to self care and spend more time at Jesus' feet. Then I can take care of the precious family God gave me.
I LOVE your channel! I would go with the more warm orangey floor. When I was a young mom, I used a gym with free childcare and it kept me totally sane! As an "older mom", I do get up first thing, early, and meet with Jesus... and I completely agree... wearing clothes that making you happy and fit you well can give you a great confidence boost no matter what your size...I thought you would appreciate this when I say one of my little "self-care" tips is to learn from women you admire and implement the things that could help you... you are seriously, 23 years younger than me!, but I love how you interact with your kiddos and I love following your recipes and your style is super cute, too! thank you for this channel!
Loved the video! (Always like them). Got my new planner out for 2020, poured myself a cup of tea and started planning the new year! Thanks for the ideas, have a lovely day!
I found your channel from scrolling through my recommendation here on UA-cam I’m not sure how UA-cam decided to recommend you maybe from me searching head coverings but I’m not completely sure but I’m glad they did because you are awesome I’m definitely not a mom but I still enjoy your videos
Megan Fox Unlocked I was about six years ago when I was in the process of becoming Catholic and was reading how back a long time ago women would cover their head for the mass and that now a day young women are bringing back the tradition to the ordinary form of mass (the English spoken mass) and I prayed about for three years and finally started covering Christmas Eve of 2016 so I’ve been covering for this coming Christmas Eve will be three years and next April 19 will be six years since I got baptized I was baptized in 2014 at 18 and some times I’ll google images of different covering when I think I need a third one
1. I love your take on self-care! So many of the things you said I've done and didn't realize why they make me feel better - but they do and now it makes sense! And I'm also a life-long learner. Two of my goals are to learn French and learn piano. My husband plays beautifully but I want to learn so badly! I'd love to be able to play for my 4 little girls. 😄 2. I looove Inherit too! I've bought several things from them and have loved them all. Great quality and beautifully modest! 😊
Thanks for reminding us to take care of ourselves. I think as mums we forget this as we are looking after so many other people. It's like in the aero plane though... you need to put on your own oxygen mask first
The area you love in is beautiful! It's like an autumn postcard. The warmer wood like better imo with the brick. Your living room is going to be so cozy ♥️
being awake before my child and baking also helps me. Also to take a bath and I cannot play any instrument but I paint and is super relaxing! your autumm pan seems delicious!
YESSSS!!! Jesus and Baking!!! Those are my two favorite things and bring me more joy and stress relief than ANYTHING else. Being with and just hanging out with my sweet husband (even after almost 20 years together) is also one of my favorite things to do! I’m a “planner” too! My hubby says I have lists for all my lists! 😂 Thanks for sharing this today! I definitely needed this reminder! ♥️♥️ May God Bless you & your precious little family abundantly and exceedingly! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for this video! Some good ideas - I love the idea about putting effort into your clothing and focusing on learning something. It’s so easy to turn into frumpy mummy and being a life long learner means we can maintain our own unique self apart from motherhood. Be blessed
I am loving your channel! You have great ideas, are informative and after hearing you play the piano, I’m thinking the list of what you can’t do must be pretty darn short!
Megan
You sweet young gal. See I used the word gal. That let's you know I'm not a young Mom.

It's just a small effort with big impact on starting you day

One thing my mom told me was "If you don't take care of yourself you cannot take care of others" . That means in every way,
Karen Smith yesssss, my mom says that too!
That is golden!
So so true something will suffer if you don’t take care of yourself..
Thanks Megan! I just took a long hot bubble bath, rubbed my favorite true blue spa shea cashmere hand cream all over my 62 year old hands and arms. Now I'm baking a chocolate cake and 2 cherry pie. It's going to be a great day!
Your post just made me smile, thank you so much for bringing positivity into my day!

Orangey one definitely. Looks like a cozier color.
Robyn Downing and the whole gray/grey color popularity is going to look more dated when things change again down the road.
Orangey one for the flooring! Love that one.

Awesome! You made it all the way to the end!
Megan
I am a grandmom taking care of my grand daughter almost full time. Its refreshing to see someone your age loving God with your whole heart. I also enjoy hearing a person with good grammar. For instance saying anyway instead of the usual “anyways”. You & Lynette Yoder are so good about that. Take care!
You are so talented! So crafty, you sow your own dresses, you cook, you play piano! I am in awe
I have older kids, (they're teenagers!) but you inspire me to slow down, to be a better mom. Thanks for your channel. You're adorable. :)
This is my favorite video of yours so far! Love seeing the children, you playing the piano, (beautiful) and hearing a sweet young mama point folks to Jesus! You're so kind with how you present all that you say. Great testimony! ❤
Wow thanks!🧡🧡
This is probably my most favorite (and needed) video of yours! The giving and the worrying never stops (mom of 4, 14yrs-4yrs). You have some great ideas... thank you!
your baking is my lawn-mowing! (or, it was before I lived in an apartment) - it's the satisfaction of instantly seeing the results of your work. Plus, there's the physical exertion, the smell of freshly-cut grass, getting grubby (and, in this case, I don't even mind the smell of the exhaust).
Heehee!😂 I actually enjoy mowing too!🧡
This year has been a year of learning for me. Love it.
Wow, this is amazing! Self care with a purpose beyond yourself!
Thank you for being so real and transparent it's so refreshing to see someone just be themselves and be real with the world.
Hi Megan, I read all kinds of books before I started homeschooling. John Holt began writing about unschooling and he made so much sense to me. we did a combo of unschooling and basics. the unschooling idea just took the pressure off and allowed me to enjoy the process. God bless.
I homeschool my son, but I cannot wrap my head around “unschooling”. We are very structured & classical.
I think that's what I would naturally gravitate towards too, but unschooling sure is interesting!
Megan I would love to see a Christian video on how you go about disciplining your kids. Does time out work for you? Positive reinforcement? What do you do? My kids don't seem to listen lol, I'm trying to figure out the best method. You seem like such a GREAT mom, such motivation!
I like the orangier flooring! It’ll look great with the grey and white in the rest of the room :)
totally agree on the learning!! It's invigorating! great tips BTW!
Thanks! 🧡 I've learned a lot from your channel!
I've been applying serum and lotion to my face every night and that makes me feel so good! It's something little but it's "me" time. Nice video I love how sweet you are.
I am amazed at how much you get done plus being a good mom and wife. 😊
do the warm tone! It's classic and timeless. The gray tone is trendy and will go out of style soon im sure
Great for this pastor’s wife .... pouring out all the time leaves an empty vessel so definitely need to sit at the feet of Jesus .....an empty vessel can cause what my therapist calls “ compassion fatigue “.....great suggestions!
God bless you for all your hard work that may sometimes go unnoticed! 🧡
I really appreciate this video! Its so sad our society is so "me" focused. Love your self care!
Thank you so much for your videos. You plant little seeds of inspiration in our lives. My children are now grown. I miss them so dearly. I wish i could have had these tips when i was raising them. I will still implemente some of these to help in my life. Thanks again!
My vote is for the more orangey flooring, it's nice and warm and I think you're right it complements the brick better.
I agree with you about the floor, Megan! I think with the cool tone brick, the warmer wood flooring option would be better to richen up the colors in the room!!
Ok thanks for weighing in!🧡
Great video!
Thanks so much and thanks for watching!
Your children are blessed to have you.
self care for me is vitamins , doctors appointments , showers, stretching etc Also, self awareness and analysis helps us grow personally ....and allows us to serve , it is my self analysis that allows me to live a life of service. i could not agree more that we benefit from serving others . oh and sometimes self care is cleaning my kitchen while playing my mom videos (this channel included)
awww, love this!
i would go with the grey flooring and paint the bricks a dark grey green - however, I bet the orange toned one would match better with the rest of the house. it is very pretty, too! can't wait to see it finished :)
the unschooling method or unmethod :D fascinates me, too. but, i love traditional education methods and structure, as well. think it is totally ok to blend the two - so maybe unschooling part of the day, week or year and doing things like math and handwriting other times. i think a lot of homeschoolerss like us unschool on Fridays - we just don't call it that. maybe unschoolers would not consider that unschooling, though.
like how classical learning builds structured foundations in the grammar and logic stages while kids' brains are working at those levels and prepares them to make their own learning paths later. it is as if it is to prepare people to be life long unschoolers after school.
really enjoy your videos. thanks for making them! and thanks for sharing the sheet roast or whatever it is called - definitely will give that a try!
That's crazy!! I just can't function without structure. But you do you mama!!
Just wanted to say thank you for your videos. Our family was/is going through a very tough season and your channel has been like a bright, relaxing and inspiring light!
Oh dear! So sorry! 🙏
Love the genuine sincerity of these videos! Keep up the great work Megan!!
Yes! They do not build any appliance like they used to. It’s so sad! I still have my washer and dryer that I bought over 20 years ago, going strong. Meanwhile, we’ve replaced every five year old appliance in our house.
Finally, some REAL self care tips! Thank you ❤
......... Now that my toddler takes a nap, I will make myself a cup of coffee and sit down all alone. Normally I would do my cleaning or cooking but thank you for encouraging to take some me time............. Blessings from Germany
Love this! I'm so glad you told me you did this and didnt just keep it to yourself.
19:03 Meghan can you put a photo or link to what the writing on the canvas behind you says… looking for something exactly like that myself.🙏🏻
Love your content!!🙏🏻
yes I agree with you on the warmer flooring,it will look great with the brick
Yes, on your floor choice. If you are leaving the brick and mantel, as is. That warmer floor will be better
All those floral patterns 😍😍😍
YES!!! De-stress baking!! I have been a stress baker/stress cooker for YEARS! I make freezer meals, cookies, pies, cakes, etc. then the sweets get gifted to others which makes me feel good all over again after baking.
Love it!
as a realtor...the warmer colored flooring would look lovely!
You are so right! We all enjoy different things!
@Rhonda’s View , yes, I am Mennonite.
Great advice for women, no matter the season we are in 😊 God bless you, Megan!
I'm old enough to be your mom, lol, but I love your videos! You are doing a great job at life!! ❤ ❤
I'm old enough to be her mom too!.
The second one I think as the first one will mke the room look and feel to cold.
Time to repeat the video. enjoy
I found your channel from scrolling through my recommendation here on UA-cam I’m not sure how UA-cam decided to recommend you maybe from me searching head coverings but I’m not completely sure but I’m glad they did because you are awesome I’m definitely not a mom but I still enjoy your videos
So glad you found me!
Are you researching head coverings.
2. I looove Inherit too! I've bought several things from them and have loved them all. Great quality and beautifully modest! 😊
WOW! You dream big. Learn French? That's awesome. You go for it!
Watching this while I clean the house up during my daughters nap. I love love love this video! Such great ideas and an awesome reminder I needed
I think the warmer wood goes better with the bricks! We have a warmer wood in our living area, and cooler shade in our bathroom.
Thanks for reminding us to take care of ourselves. I think as mums we forget this as we are looking after so many other people. It's like in the aero plane though... you need to put on your own oxygen mask first
So true!🧡
This video spoke to my heart. Thank you, Megan!
God bless you and your family Megan
Thank you for this video! Some good ideas - I love the idea about putting effort into your clothing and focusing on learning something. It’s so easy to turn into frumpy mummy and being a life long learner means we can maintain our own unique self apart from motherhood.
Be blessed
I think I prefer the warmer toned flooring, beautiful!!
As always, enjoy your piano playing and singing.
I am loving your channel!
You have great ideas, are informative and after hearing you play the piano, I’m thinking the list of what you can’t do must be pretty darn short!
Thanks for taking the time to share your heart and give us all reminders of how we can take care of ourselves Megan. I really appreciate you. 🌹
The second floor sample it beautiful next to the FP brick. 👍🏼😉 Thats my favorite.
And love the applesauce! Ours is often pink too! Yummy!
I love the bit about clothes!! So true!
