  • It's never too late to start respecting the principle of 'Beware the Niggle'.
    Also sometimes, runners need to modify their running plans:
    'But mouse, you are not alone in proving foresight maybe vain,
    The best laid schemes of mice and men,
    Go oft awry and leave us us nothing but grief and pain,
    For promised joy. "

    Great advice! I ignored the niggle a few years ago and ended up with a meniscus root tear. The surgery was a breeze, but the recovery was miserable!!! An entire month on crutches! It crushed me mentally and I now respect the niggle. I figure it's better to be able to run less and shorter distance, than to acquire an injury that doesn't allow me to run at all.

    I've felt ITB soreness sometimes over the years. Kick backs for the gluteus medius almost instantly relieve the pain and improve the strength. Hope you recover well =D
