This is amazing. Sultans of swing is a song that is always close to my heart. I’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years and remember as a kid my dad played a video of Dire Straits Live Aid performance and the live version was very similar to this. I got my first guitar and my father said to me “Son. I want you to learn sultans of swing for me one day” he can back from the pub one night and got him to sit down and stuck sultans of swing on and played it note for note and he had tears in his eyes and was so proud of me. I’ve always wanted to learn the alchemy version so these tabs are absolutely perfect. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve just earned yourself a new subscriber. Keep on rocking 🤟🏻 🎸
this is amazing, most people won't realize the time and effort it takes to make a video like this. PLUS, having the skills to play this song. incredible job, man 🔥
Absolutely amazing from those gifted hands. You nailed it. I'm a great fan of you. The tabs add the extra boost to all the learners. Very very helpful. I do have a request to upload the alchemy version of 'tunnel of love.'
@@GuillaumeVrac you really are helping to become a better guitar player with this, learning this peice has been one of my ambitions since i took my first guitar lesson in 2002 and i am making progress with it, thanks so much again for this tab.
Même si ça a l’air vachement compliqué… Merci beaucoup (:
Awesome man, really superb! This will keep me busy for a week or two. 😬 Thank you 👍 Those lollar blondes have a beautiful tone. Just wondered if they get you even closer to MK’s tone on this Alchemy version when you crank that Princeton loud? I have a 99 US strat that I’m thinking about swapping to these PU’s from some custom shop ones to get closer to MK’s bell-like tone on this version .
Thank you Lee! Those Lollar Blonde pickups are really great especially for the clean, and they go well with the Princeton. They have an eq that is rather bright but well balanced with enough dynamic and snap. To approach the MK’s tone there is also the Dimarzio FS1 in the neck position that is also a good option but this pickup has much more output and is darker than the the Blonde.
Thanks very much for that man, really appreciate it. I was considering the Di Marzio set also as I’d seen that Mark used them around this early 80’s period. I have a deluxe reverb 65 reissue so I’m just looking for the ideal set that will allow me to get that gorgeous tone through it, particularly from around 7:00 in when his lead tone is isolated and he starts those repeating licks that eventually rejoin the song’s 2nd solo. Unbelievable tone!
@@leebroadley4288 It's appreciated here. The Deluxe is maybe brighter as far as i know than the Princeton. Also sometimes modding the amp can be useful, by changing the speaker and first preamp tube. With the Lollar Blonde you would do a good choice i think
That’s awesome, will go with the lollar blondes then and I’m sure they’ll get me close. Your content is superb and to figure this stuff out by ear you’re a brilliant guitarist. Thanks again...👍 Subbed obviously 😄
People transcribing and playing note-for-note Alchemy songs have my deepest respect. Amazing work!
Disclaimer: of (very) course i know Mark Knopfler plays with his fingers, but that's my version and i play with a pick.
good! doesn't mind how you play it, aslong as it sounds good which it does!
With pick it’s more difficult . Thank you . You are a master .
I would play with a pick.
@@jamesrobert680 Noooo 😮 !!!!
@@renaudpoupard97 what do you have against me using a pick?

I always think of this Alchemy solo as the beginning of a greater solo ---- the Live Aid solo

Amazing stuff

Fantastic.

Very Good. Can you do the guitar duel of Deep Purple, Strange Kind of Woman between Ian Gilian and Ritchei Blackmore in the album Made in Japan?

Beautiful playing, but i have one question,
At 0:13 you did 12 10 12 10.
No offense but it sounds a little weird, great playing tho👍
Yes this part is not really well played as the original
Hi there, what's the TAB software you're running? thanks, want to try and get into this myself, much appreciated.

any tips on the dead notes part?

Bonjour,
No pedal except a Tube Screamer TS808 for the climax of the solo

HOW like just HOW what huh i just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Can you explain the picking hand technique?
I've put some downstrokes and upstrokes symbols to help on the tablature. But for the rest it would need a new video or private lessons!

I think I'll lose my mind over which pick-up use for Sultans of Swing.
Middle on the studio album and the middle+bridge 4th position on the alchemy live
How do you adapt it to with a pick?

Bro, u using a freaking pick???? For real??
nicely done, but using a playtrum on a dire straits song its a bit like cooking a Tournedos Rossini, but without the foie gras
Thank you 😊, that’s because I’m vegetarian 🌱 !
tuning pls
Great. Now try it without a pick.
Aplis de you a good
Thats the same but without pick
I’ve said it in the video. It’s my version
Oui au solo, Non aux ciseaux!
Et la pollution ?
Mutig !
but you use plettro! 🤣
Working on mutes
Sure it's an important aspect of the playing.
Jesus...
You sound good but playing Mark Knopfler with a pick is bad for your ears
For sure I know, that’s what I said in the video. I’ m not at ease with that kind of finger picking, so I’d prefered to play it my way with a pick
Thank you, well done.
