So, uh, here we are two years into what was supposed to be a gap semester. I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without you guys, and I’ve said it so many times before & I’ll say it again: I have words for just about everything, but I don’t think I’ll ever find the words to properly express my gratitude to this little community here on UA-cam. So just thank you, a thousand times over. PS: next week is my week off- this upload is four days late (oups) but I’ll be back with another upload in around 11 days (Monday). Thankful for you guys.
Keep on doing you being you Mariah ;) Enjoy your downtime. See you when you get back. Stay safe out there, Be happy 'n keep smiling. Cheers from New Zealand. M 🇳🇿
This has to be the best vanlife video in the entire history of vanlife videos on UA-cam, just real. You definitely irradiated the good vibes through the screen and the shoots, transitions, voice over comments, song. It all got tied to perfection with the lack of showering, because it's all real and that's why it's perfect.
Good to see your friendship with Anna continues. The two of you are so down to earth. That was an incredible rain storm which is desperately needed here in NM.
i can relate when you say ‘i’m not sure how anybody gets off the road’. i have thought about it extensively, and it’s hard to fathom not having the daily mystery, daily freedom, daily adventure that roadlife offers. loved this vid, south dakota looks amazing (that part of it, anyways)
Your videos stand out so much more than the rest that I’ve seen. You’re real. Like for real realz. You’re so f’n brave. The world is your oyster and you react how I would if I was in your shoes. Thank you for being you. The world is better because of you ✌🏻❤️
I just got back home from two weeks in my car on a trip out west after living on the east coast my entire life. A big motivation behind that was you and your channel. You said it perfectly "you do more in a weekend than 2 weeks in normal life". Those two weeks on the road have completely rerouted my plans for my life and all I can think about now is getting my van and exploring the world. I was in a really bad place mentally and still am but your videos give me so much hope and motivation to keep pushing forward, to keep working for that van, and to finally live the life I have always dreamed of. Thank you Mariah, I hope you and Finn have a great time in SD :)
Your videos make we want to go back and do life again, or hope that we get another turn on this wheel, conscious of what we missed the first trip around.
Congrats! I’ve been living in my transit 7 months now. I’m just starting my first real travel, heading away from Texas heat and eventually to pacific nw area for much of the summer. Shocking how fast it goes. Cheers
“Over think it and not go” sounds a lot like myself. Bet you cant turn your brain off, I know I cant, it drives me crazy. I’m sure you’ve heard it before but your voice is very soothing and calming(in between the moments of uncertainty) haha. Keep singing
So so so glad we didn’t wait until September to get back together on the road ((honestly don’t want to imagine the world where we did that instead ;p)) See you in July for WTCS in movie theaters! (if not sooner hehe) I appreciate you
I call it “on your own but not alone” this seems to describe you and Anna traveling together. You’ve inspired me, SD one of my last 4 US states, to visit, maybe travel to the Dakotas soon, thanks 😊
That little Finn is such a stinker. Friendships are important - having that balance of friendships and solitude is vital and my guess is that connecting with Anna (another van lifer) it's easy to do because you are kindred spirits. It's nice to have a buddy to connect with and then to have that time to yourself while together.
Your content, is always "real",, and never appears rehersed.... I'm at the point, where I get a positive charge,, when I see a new video from you appear on youtube.... That's all on you Mariah, and your gifts, skills, and natural beauty,, and choice of vistas ... Thank You,,, from a youtube fan in Canada....
You should check out the van lifer who attaches a shower curtain to his ceiling, and stands in a plastic tub. The shower curtain stays in the tub so water doesn't go everywhere. Forgot the link though.
I admire when seeing you keep to do the journaling and reading books usually. In fact, those are one the most successful habits that we all need to apply in life. I love to see you doing journal by the fire, it's so sweet.
Congrats on 2 years! I appreciate your approach to documententing your nomadic experience. Experiencing all of the feels! I hope to complete my van build in a few weeks, which I have been doing full-time for the past 4 weeks and part-time since February. I'm pretty exhausted, but your videos remind me of what wonderful experiences are in store. Thank you❤!
I've randomly found your channel, saw a couple of videos, then saw some more. I think I'm enjoying them because of the esthetics, your taste in music and the way you do editing gives me this nostalgic feel, the archetype story of a hero who sidetracks and gets lost on the road, procrastinates in confronting his deepest fears, fulfilling his destiny. The dragon that swallow us all, that paralyzes every nerve when something gives remembrance of its danger, gradually encircling and slowly strangling us with every breath to the point of no return. The first gray hair, the sudden realization that he tarried too long and now it's getting late. The insatiated beast had grown strong and our hero weary, patiently tracking his dwindling heartbeat, waiting for an opportunity to devour another slice from his vitality. Buried inside its foul belly, he has now accepted the inevitable. As its mouth closes, the last rays of light stroke his eye, tormenting him with scorching images of regret and sorrow for his callow dismay. What if he had kept the path and fought its might when his potential was ripe for harvest? What if he dared to endeavor in conquering what was his by right and not shy away from bloodshed? What if he succeeded and the aeons would evermore hail songs for his free giving heart in slaying the great serpent? And in that moment, with a clear mind, his memories became alive and the circle of time could not lay them to waste.
I have just stubbled over your channel and I love it so much already, Finn is sooo cute! You have just found yourself a new subscriber!🎉 Keep up your amazing work! And I’m sure your satisfy yourself at the very end!
There's something magical about Badlands and the Black Hills. The first time I visited I fell in love, and it really started my desire to car/vanlife. Hasn't happened yet, but someday...
I'm so glad that you still enjoy living on the road and that you've made friends on your journey. You look like you're in your happy place. I'm excited to see where you go next. Also I've never been to a live concert Either. I'd feel too awkward going lol.
I was just thinking about you and Finn and hoping that you both were doing well and then you uploaded. I’m so glad you and Anna are friends and have been enjoying being neighbors together. Seriously my 2 favorite van lifers. 😁✨
Congratulations on 2 years on the road ❤️ With me, it’s been 4 years this month. Those beautiful places again in your new video, incredible 🥰Have a happy summer 🍀
Congrats on the South Dakota residency (and Anna too, I follow her adventures also) And also on 2 full years of van life. You are doing awesome and I just love watching your videos. Hope you make it to Canada someday.
I appreciate all of the effort you put into filming and sharing your story. Thank you for taking us along and most of all thank you for being you. Safe travels and enjoy.
I find it so amazing that people who have spent two or three years solo camping. I myself spent five years using a tent, or 3/10 to make it that long. Life is about the adventure right now I have been on the road since 2014. I love the life, and my dogs love the life too
Van life.. an exercise in tolerance 🤧.. I don't think so.. try Adventure bike journeys.. head to toe flannel baths every night & a tent in the rain.. loving your videos just discovered.. nice style 🤗.. why a "Van" though.. especially with your away security woes.. look into a commercial box body light truck.. much much cheaper.. waay more flexible in options & super stealth 😎.. window security covers to look like vented louver panels just the bees knee.. & can still have a walk through cab option a la vans.. there's a few telecom type truck conversions around.. keep cookin young lass.. be watchin cheers from NZ
2 pretty down to earth girls having fun traveling across the country seeing all the great things out there and meeting a lot of friendly people..have fun be safe
I need to stop overthinking and just do it! Good to have a check in your Spirit, love Anna, her heart is so precious 💞 Yes you have grown alot over the year's, Finn looks so happy! Happy trail's and tail's from Texas 💞
I so love watching your videos! You keep it so real life! I am less than 4 months from venturing into van life. Thank you for sharing so much! You have no clue how much these help! God speed!
I binge watched your videos this weekend. Thing one: growing up as a military kid, “home” is the four walls around you. No more, no less. Thing two: You are wonderful. Let yourself soak that in. Thing three: The Southeast in the winter would be my suggestion. Places along the Gulf of Mexico like Mobile, Al to St. Petersburg. Also, SC coast in the winter.
Thanks for this film! I agree, your voice is soothing and your filming makes us feel that we are right there with you. And keep singing and playing, that song sounds better when you do it than the original!
Another lovely story. Well done for surviving 2 years. That amazing smile at 1.40 just made smile too. Thanks for that I certainly needed it. Hope Finn is keeping well. Stay safe. Regards Paul from England. 👍
Your video is a welcome break in my day, and a pleasant diversion. I'm not sure I can add much to the reactions of others, but your comment about the effects of summer, and good feelings about your van lifestyle seem to be aligned perfectly throughout your video. Enjoy your week away!
I’ve been waiting for this video all week, yay! You are really living my dream life, not gonna lie I’m super jealous, only thing holding me back is the fact I’m only 16 and money, but one day I’m gonna leave Europe, fly to the US and start van life there😁 Congratulations on the 2 years🥳
Hey Mariah Alice, Its great to see your video. I relate to your being alone...and thriving. Im sorry to hear you were unwell. My coping with my daughter's recent death...and panic attacks...watching your videos reminds me that being alone can be ok. Safe travels and hugs💜🙏🏻🦋🌟
Should visit Florida! or L.A.! Alaska Mission. Maine? Keep smashing PR's & setting new goals. Gear is always cool & bushcraft. Would love to see some ski areas. Badlands is beautiful though. Really like the idea of... "The Homestead."
I loved my travels to South Dakota and the barren earth that is the badlands. Congrats on becoming a resident of that state !! Safe travels, from Canada.
My Favorite pair has a new video, Awesome! Hi Mariah & Finn, so much fun watching you having Fun and showing us around places that are on our list to visit pretty soon. Hoping one day we will come across to each other. Sending Much Love to you guys.
Sooooo……I’ve been binge-watching VanLife videos for the last 4 months, which makes me nervous (in a good way) because I’ve heard countless vanlifers say that’s exactly how they got started. Hi after watching one of your posts you said that you regret knot having a window behind your sink...well how about putting a mirror as a splash back behind you sink opposite your window you could always frame it with a black wood and even put a divide in the middle with a small handle so it looked like a opening window... just a idea keep up the great post's..
Oh wow. We must of just missed each other. We were around the Badlands / SW South Dakota around this same time too!! Unless ya happened to have seen a Big Grey Transit with a little motorcycle hanging off the back.
Great video this week. I always do the log cabin and it works great. Why did they kick you out of that campground? I though forest service land was open to camp in. Glad you are healthy again. Congratulations on 2 years. We plan on doing 2-5 years in our van when we are ready. Stay safe and keep the videos coming.
You can play the F chord in the C handshape. Just move your ring and middle fingers down one string and press both B and E strings on the first fret with your index finger. Bar chords can be difficult for beginner guitar players.
Hey Mariah, just wanna say I think you have a nice voice. You’re singing on key which is half the battle. BTW, you might want to upgrade your strumming technique. Maybe try using the thumb for the downstrokes (obviously) and your index finger for upstrokes. With just the thumb you’re limited to all downstrokes. Regards.
Thanks to you and Anna, I decided to be brave, pivot, and head my way up to the Dakotas after my trip to the Western slope in CO got cancelled. I got legit stranded between Custer and Rapid the last time I was up there (transmission blew up), so I’m hoping this trip will allow me to make peace with SD for once and for all 😂
Hello. Your videos are entertaining. We have these things in common: Northern CA, "Holy cannoli", "Plethora", John Denver, Culture Club. Keep up the guitar and singing.
What timing, I just popped on here and this video was minutes old. Your meals always look so delicious, it’s how I like to eat too. I agree with you, after living your type of lifestyle, it would be hard to stop. Keep doing what you’re doing. People enjoy living life through you, you have a great following. You’re videos are fun and real.
So, uh, here we are two years into what was supposed to be a gap semester. I haven't seen you use the drone
U gorgeous and beautiful..
You are absolutely authentic! I adore the way you are! Also your singing is NOT cringe worthy its quite nice in fact
I also agree!

Congrats! I’ve been living in my transit 7 months now. I’m just starting my first real travel, heading away from Texas heat and eventually to pacific nw area for much of the summer. Shocking how fast it goes. Cheers
Summer & fall go by in the blink of an eye. Especially in the PNW. Enjoy it!

So happy you have Anna as a good friend as she is such a genuine person like yourself! Finn is a cutie & loves you so much! Take care! 😍
Mariah, I really enjoy the music you pair with these clips. It feels so pleasant.
I love listening to your covers!! It just feels so genuine and joyful!
Two beautiful souls paling around together enjoying the many wonders of your chosen van lives. Thank you for allowing us in.
Loved all the pastel sky scenes 🤍 also if you were a hiker I would vote ur trail name be fire master
😂😂😂 I love this. Must learn to fully live up to it though.
Congratulations on 2 years Mariah!

I really like how you filmed your interactions with Anna, it was really natural 🙂from 3:09
love the videos of you and Anna being silly, laughing, having so much fun
The infamous F chord. Many people think it got its name from coming after the E chord but it got its name from the people saying F this chord. ✌️❤️
😂. Yes.
Thank you for singing for us 💛
This was definitely my favorite video of yours so far!! You’re so introspective and down to earth. So inspiring!
Congrats on the South Dakota residency (and Anna too, I follow her adventures also) And also on 2 full years of van life. You are doing awesome and I just love watching your videos. Hope you make it to Canada someday.

You and Anna are two of the bravest people I've ever heard of. This period of your lives will pay dividends long into the future. Kudos.

I am IN LOVE with your film camera shots! it makes everything look 100x more ethereal and magical! Ahh I love it so much!!!!
!!! I’ve been geeking out over my own footage all month lololol
There is no growth without risk. Congratulations on having the courage and perseverance to take this very unconventional path!

It seems crazy that no one mentions the price of gas right now. That has to weigh on any decisions for long travel.
just about my favorite thing: a rainstorm in the vehicle - lovely!
You are so entertaining. Thank You for sharing your adventures and music. Your voice is incredible
Thanks for this film! I agree, your voice is soothing and your filming makes us feel that we are right there with you. And keep singing and playing, that song sounds better when you do it than the original!

I love watching the Finn snuggles ❤️
Your video is a welcome break in my day, and a pleasant diversion. I'm not sure I can add much to the reactions of others, but your comment about the effects of summer, and good feelings about your van lifestyle seem to be aligned perfectly throughout your video. Enjoy your week away!
I’ve been waiting for this video all week, yay! You are really living my dream life, not gonna lie I’m super jealous, only thing holding me back is the fact I’m only 16 and money, but one day I’m gonna leave Europe, fly to the US and start van life there😁
Congratulations on the 2 years🥳
I first found the van life when I was 16 too- it took me five years to buy the van -_- but, we got here and I’m sure so will you
Thank you so much 😊
Hey Mariah Alice, Its great to see your video. I relate to your being alone...and thriving. Im sorry to hear you were unwell. My coping with my daughter's recent death...and panic attacks...watching your videos reminds me that being alone can be ok. Safe travels and hugs💜🙏🏻🦋🌟
Sending hugs ❤️❤️❤️
I was there in in the Black Hills NF that week. Rain for us is miserable, but that’s our rig. Exploring WY this month 😻🤗
"will i over think it and not got? probably" dang that hits home hard lol
So great to hear you sing and play again! Keep being you (I'm sure you will)!
Love watching your vids. So therapeutic. You bring me to places I wish to go to while I'm stuck in my remote jobs at home.

I’ve been binge-watching your videos for the last couple of weeks. I love your mind…..your thought process….and your speaking style. Bad Lands is my favorite place to visit. Been there 4 times and still haven't seen it all. Going back for sure.
Something so nice and peaceful falling asleep to the sound rain on the campervan roof and waking to the sound of nature in the morning. Magic.
Trust me, no guitarist likes F! Really enjoyed hearing you sing & play.
Hi Mariah, I love the sound the rain makes when it hits the van it’s so relaxing.. stay safe love to you both x❤️
I love that you and Anna both used the same clip of laughing at the campfire. Was that coordinated or just a happy accident?
It was *the moment* at that fire. But totally an unplanned coincidence that we both used it hahaha
Congratulations 👏......Your Hardwork and Dedication determines your results.....I hope you've enjoyed your adventures very well😊

the best choice for quick start is teepee, but if you need a good bed of coals to cook over - log cabin is the way to go ;)
Thanks to you and Anna, I decided to be brave, pivot, and head my way up to the Dakotas after my trip to the Western slope in CO got cancelled. I got legit stranded between Custer and Rapid the last time I was up there (transmission blew up), so I’m hoping this trip will allow me to make peace with SD for once and for all 😂
