    This is my favorite type of a more open stitch/pattern. I watched your (excellent visual and verbal) video numerous times as I almost fainted at the rows involved! But, it is very doable if I can keep focused 🤒 and back it up with my row counter, marking rows off on paper, any backup I can possibly think of to get my brain through it - yay. Thank you so much for the video - I love this stitch!!

    Hey Denise I’ve been using Lion Brand Mandala yarn. Its beautiful and I use it to make a brim and then finish off with a solid color from within the yarn. It’s really cool.

      What color are you using Jon

    • @joncampos8843
      @joncampos8843 6 років тому

      LoomaHat.com It’s kinda what you would call variegated. Different colors but they all go well together.

    I am so loving this but I am a tad scared so I am going to try a BUNCH of samples until I can get it just right because I just know I am going to mess it up. LOL!
    You are so awesome and a great teacher! Thank you!!!

      Thank YOU Keeba023 !!! The stitch looks WAyyyyy harder then it actually is. Just get into a rhythm and the project is done before you know it. I'm on row 112 on my scarf ... and much more to go ........

      Oooooook but I am still a tad timid. I will give it a try. I really like how it looks so I am going to keep trying until I get it right. (One hundred and twelve seems like a lot but here's wishing me luck.)

      I remember you told me about him - he and I share some of the same "blessings" ! I pray he's well ? Tell he when he works this stitch - paper and pencil should be on the list of supplies. It was the only way I got through it . LOLOLOLOL

    Hi Denise 😊😊 i'm totally in love with this stitch 😍😍 can you tell me the number or the size of the wool used please because watching the video I have the impression that it is quite fine like a 4.5 or 5 wool but I'm not sure lol thank you in advance and pass a beautiful day. Caroline (from France 😁)

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  2 роки тому

      Hi Caroline - remember that I’m in the US - the yarn is medium #4 worsted weight. Hope that helps 😊

    Thank you so much for making these videos! I really want to make the red scarf shown in the beginning of the video. The blue scarf for the tutorial looks different. Are you able to tell me the difference? It looks like the red pattern has less rows between holes. The blue tutorial looks like there’s more rows between holes, so the holes are spaced farther apart. Is that correct?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  10 місяців тому

      Hi - first, keep in mind that this is not a scarf project video- it’s only for the stitch pattern. There are many reasons why the stitch might look different. Could be because of the yarn weight. It might be the row count. If the stitch is close to the base of the loom - it will be more stretched out and look different.
      It’s hard for me to says exactly why the two look different because this video is old and I don’t remember the details.

    Wow, that looks great. I am sure I would forget what row number I am on. How do you keep track of where you are up to?

  • @debras2845
    @debras2845 6 років тому +1

    Hi Denise, love this for scarves and hats. Of course, I do have a question. For the edge stitches on the knit rows, you have 2 on left and 1 on right but you start with a uk so it keeps it in balance. On the purl rows, you have 1 on the right and 2 on left. Duh, what am I missing?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  6 років тому +2

      Hi Debra, it's always 2 on the left and 1 on the right - you need more on the left because that row starts and ends with a YO. Remember that you can always change that edge if it's not working for you.

    Do you think thisbwohkd look good or be a good idea for a long rectangle shawl? I'm making a long square mickey stitch shawl but have some trouble figuring out which patients make for a good lengthy square shawl.

  • @raelynarnold2319
    @raelynarnold2319 6 років тому +1

    If your edge stitches are for balance. Why do you have 2 edge stitches on the first side, but only 1 edge stitch on the other side? You said in the video the 2 extra knit stitches are to secure the Yarn Over. But wouldn’t just 1 stitch do the same thing? Also, why do you call this a “rib” stitch? When you’re doing whole rows of knit stitches & whole rows of purl stitches. I thought “rib” patterns were a combination of knit & purl stitches on the same row. For example knit 2, purl 2. Or knit 3, purl 1. I’m very confused by these things. Thank you for all you do for the loom knitting community. I appreciate you and your videos very much!

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  6 років тому +1

      Hi Raelyn so good to hear from you- it’s been a while. The 2 stitches on the left as opposed to the one on the right is because of the last stitch in the row. Both sides do not end the same - the extra stitch allows both side to “look” the same. As for the name - I didn’t name it. I liked this stitch in needle but it wouldn’t convert well so I designed a loom knitting version

    What gauge of yarn would be best for this pattern? Would 6 ply be to big?
    Can it be made into a blanket

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  5 років тому

      This stitch will work well with ANY yarn. My first swatch was with a chunky yarn - the fabric in the picture was done with medium 4ply. And yes - the pattern is reversible and should work fine for a blanket.

  • @carolinabeth5173

    How can I do a large full blanket on a long loom?

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  6 років тому

      Yes - but you may have to do panels and sew them together to make it big enough.
      Here is a link for a blanket that works with ANY loom ua-cam.com/video/nF-XvjbxCGo/v-deo.html
