Thank you so much for your video and for being a real person who uses things to help you remember. I have had 7 brain surgeries and other medical problems. My life as I used to know it is now obsolete and has been for at least the past 4 years. I once was able to do crafts, quilt, sew, cook, work, drive and play. Laughing with my family and friends and even being able to dress myself has left my life. You get the picture about a year ago I saw a video of someone loom knitting and thought that I would try it. But because my hands don't always work I would have had to stop in the middle with all the brain surgeries I forgot where I was so I have never been able to complete anything. I couldn't even begin to count how many years I have shed or how many balls of yarn that I have thrown across the room and into the garbage. I had quit but tonight I opened you tube which doesn't happen often to watch a funny cat video with my grandson. Your video was on my phone screen or in my feed I not really sure why but since it was there I clicked on it thinking I would send it to my daughter maybe she would take up the hobby. I know that this just a hobby but seeing your video has lifted my spirits and given me a hope. The how and why your video was there for me to watch is beyond me maybe all is not lost. I still have to find some yarn and all the parts to the loom and there is a high chance that I will fail again. But for tonight my mind is alive with possibility thank you.
Arleen THANK YOU so much for taking the time to leave me your story - you have blessed me - truly. Stay with me - let me know when you get stuck. Get little rubber bands - you’ll find them in the hair accessories section of any department store ... and start with the basic hat. I’m very proud of you for tackling this art - you will do well. I big hug to you. ... and nothing happens by chance 😉
@Arleen - Do NOT feel bad because you need assistance. I have zero excuse outside of perhaps age and foolish things I did as a teenager, but I am not ashamed to admit that I use stitch markers and painter's tape and row counters and whatever I think I need to help me...it's why they are there. I recently did a project with different cables...I color-coded them so I wouldn't get confused. If I have a project with a lot of rows, I will attached one of those locking stitch markers and write the row number on it when I'm done for the night. I am now looking to get one of those pattern holders with the magnetic strips to help me with working lace patterns because the rows are so damn long and my eyes want to 'jump' and I lose my place.
Hi there, well I'm part of the club with difficulty knitting on long/round looms. I have rheumatoid arthritis and it makes things rather difficult when doing my stitches. I took me several times to finally really get the hang of Knitting. I mean literally 100's of xx',s lol cause with RA I'm legally blind. It's easier to give up trying but the passion I have for this art, pushes me through!!, good bless & keep trying!. 💜🦋💞
Thanks Denise you are so clear and concise. Plus I love all your tips and tricks to keep you on track cuz like you I need all the references I can get. Lol
Hi, just want to thank you. Your way of teaching is awesome, so clear and easy. I have just learned double moss stitch. And the use of the rubber bands are perfect. Thank you for giving of yourself.
The pattern is beautiful. It looks so difficult to be so detailed. Being such a great teacher that you are it makes it where I'm eager to try it instead of intimidated. Thank you so much for your calm detailed instructions. I'm so excited, I may just start tonight.
When we all needed to find things to keep us occupied I found loom knitting. I have watched a couple of your videos to learn some stitches. I am looking forward to trying this one. I hope I am successful.
I got a knitting loom for xmas, it was destined for the "maybe one day" box coz I just couldn't get the hang of it but then I found your videos and "voila", just like that I am happily loom knitting, your instructions are so clear and easy to follow, thank you so much for sharing and keep up the brilliant work
+sharon good Thank You for the Thank you - I love love love a happy loom knitter - Big Hugs to you and again thanks for the positive feedback - it is HIGHLY appreciated ! ! !
new to your channel and so so glad i found you! i have made baby hats to donate to the hospital, but they were so mundane! same stitch over and over - now, with your patient teaching the possibilities appear endless! thank you ❤️
WOW!! This is awesome!! Thank you so much for sharing - love your idea of marking every other peg!! I could never keep up with remembering what I did from row to row, so I am grateful for your tips!! - Grace
LoomaHat.com Just looked at it, and you are right - REALLY CUTE!!! I found you on facebook, googleplus and your blog and have subscribed to them all!! Thanks for all your awesome videos!!
I just want to say thank you for your clear explanation on the different stitches and patterns that you teach . I find your videos very helpful . I made 3 beanies in basic E - wrap stitch and learning from you more patterns. Thank so much for your great videos. 👍🤗
Utahna Bunn Thank YOU - some folks like that explanation and other don't - isn't life funny :) - Here is a playlist of loom knit stitches - will be adding every month starting in 2015 ua-cam.com/play/PLnFuMwI3dh8UvL0LYP8_nmEUZZOhgRGg-.html denise
Consider yourself subscribed! With most loom-knitting videos, the knitter always moves way too fast or you can't see what they're doing and you have to watch the video a billion times to figure it out. I really like your videos! I can understand them the first time around and you explain everything and show how to troubleshoot.
Teresa Matson I also like it better on a smaller gauge loom - but I use the KK looms on my videos because Most folks have large gauge looms and they will feel more confident seeing what they have on hand .. Hey, would you please consider sharing a picture of that afghan with me and my readers .. THANKS ! denise@loomahat.com
The rubber band sure helps. I was just trying and got so confused. Have a terribile memory and with your suggestions I may just be able to make it. The notes come in really handy. Thanks for sharing. I don't have a row counter, but if I had, I would have done just like you.!!! TY for sharing your experience
I love this pattern. I am making small blankets using this pattern to donate to my local hospital to the Mom's who have lost their babies. So they have something nice to wrap them in after delivery.
Cynthia Butler Cynthia sooooo happy to know that my work is being used to help in your work. Just Beautiful! Thanks for sharing that with me. I really appreciate it ! BIG Hugs, denise
Hi Denise! We have "talked before." I just started my prayer shawl today for the Prayer Shawl Ministry I am involved with. I am currently using the Double Moss Stitch. I am loving it! Thank you!!
question to cast on use 1. First ewrap then 2 .uwrap then 3.purl correct or not or use an uwrap as a cast on the first row and continue to uwrap until I purl ?
Wrap all your pegs - Uwarp the row - then start the pattern - this will allow you to tighten your cast on. Here's a helpful link :www.loomahat.com/start-my-stitch-patterns/
I am a beginner on looming thanking you for teaching your video I have learned a lot I have one question I made a panel on a round loom for a blanket do I make two or three panels for a full-size bed Reyes
+LoomaHat.com Hi I used the 41 round loom peg 22w-66L The first 10 rolls was the e wrap 10 rolls of Pearl stitch and then I finished with e wrap and I am a new beginner can you please tell me what you mean by swatch. Reyes
Hi Denise, your instructions are great however if you want to use a 31 peg loom u end up with an extra peg which is out of sync with the every other that you describe. if you knit 1 then purl 1 what stitch do you do on the extra peg?
Hi Denise! I LOVE your videos! you always find the prettiest, most unique stitch patterns! (love tiny hearts!) been looking for 2 weeks for the perfect blanket pattern for sister-in-law's new baby boy - and I've found it!!!! thank you soooo much! I bought an s-loom just for this, but wanted perfect pattern! please tell me which cast on to use? I heard e-wrap curls, what do you suggest?? can't WAIT to get started!!!!
***** Hi .. the e-wrap is not what causes the curling - that effect depends on your choice of stitches after you cast on - so a Garter Stitch is a great choice for the edges to keep your work from curling. Hope that helps ! Hugs, denise
You got some amazing skills you make it seems so easy that even a dummy could do it... So thank you, because it's not everyone who has the ability to teach their craft.. 👍👍🏆🏆👍👍
Hi Carol, this is a stitch pattern and not a project so it really depends on the design of the overall pattern. Here is a video to help explain ua-cam.com/video/YWjS77zVdaw/v-deo.html
hi,that's a nice stich pattern, do you know how to do a ten stich blanket, I would love to use this design for that,I hope you have a step by step guide. thanks.
purpleshammrock Depends on the project - sometimes e-wrap - sometime the chain. Here is a link to the chain cast on ua-cam.com/video/3uvW3NA-Udo/v-deo.html
Denise my friend..LOVE all your video's. I want to know how did you bind off on this particular flat panel...I'm still learning so I figure I would ask
Doesn't matter both would work well - if I "must choose" with this pattern I prefer an even number of pegs. Only because the pattern repeats. I f it were the regular Moss or Seed that flips on the second row - then I would prefer the odd numbers
I found this stitch through your great top 10 book and want to (as a beginner) make a hat with the turn-up brim using the true knit stitch then use this for the body of the hat. Will this draw up to close the hat like the e stitch or should I go back to the e stitch at the top so it will draw closed? I am so excited that I can finally knit having failed at it at least 10 times.
I want to do this stitch to make a baby blanket but I need some help. I did a row of a cast on stitch and am at the right side of the loom (actually using a 40 peg round loom and using 30). Should I start the knit and purl going back to the left (and that is my row 1) or cast on all the way back to the left and start at the beginning with knit, purl going back to the right? OR should I just have started with the knit, purl and skipped the cast on I did. I am new to this and I am very confused right now. Your videos are very good and I love the way this blanket looks but maybe to advanced for me since I just started looming. Thank you so much!
Will you be making small squares that you plan to connect?. My only intent in this video was to teach the stitch so to it make a square you would need more instructions. ...You must cast on - it just means adding the yarn to the loom - many ways to do this.. The direction that you start - right or left is not important - just make sure to stack the stitches correctly... not sure if i'm explaining myself to well. Here is the link to the pattern where you will have a stitch chart so that you can see what I'm saying www.loomahat.com/double-moss-stitch/ Show less
LoomaHat.com well I was hoping to make one panel as a small blanket. I did a crochet cast on from left to right for 30 pegs. Then I was going to start the knit, purl for two rows then purl, knit for two rows to make the length. I wasnt sure if I could start from the right (after my "cast on" but sounds like that doesnt matter. I guess going from where i am at now back towards the left will be my 1st row of knit, purl? Do I need to go further around (my loom has 40 pegs) to make it bigger? I also am not sure how to finish once I get the length I want but I'll cross that bridge when I get there (ha ha). Overall does this sound like it will work? Thanks!!
Deidre Pavlick Heads up - I use 24 pegs for an 8 inch square.. Your 30 pegs would give you a Barbie doll blanket. Try the 10 stitch blanket www.loomahat.com/10-stitch-blanket/
Tiana Wendling Depends on the gauge of your loom With Knifty Knitter , Boye and Micheals' Loops and Threads you should use medium worsted weight (4) or higher, denise
Carmen A Hi Carmen - I will be making a video soon because this is only for the stitch and not a complete project. But you can watch the video for the scarf - it will help with starting and finishing a square: ua-cam.com/video/WdxFdqy6u1s/v-deo.html
Hi please keep in mind that this video is for a stitch pattern and not a project. The project determines how wide. To size your project for a 40 peg loom you would need to knit it on a 40 peg loom and measure.
Hi Denise i was wondering how i would go about starting this off as in this you are already well on the way with things. I was thinking of using this on a large round loom to maybe make a premature baby blanket as i am working a project at the moment of hats and blankets ( if i can get the hang of it ) to donate to my local hospital .
+Dawn Apps This video was only for the stitch and not any project in particular. Different projects start (cast-on) differently. I don't know the brim you will choose for the hat (like a rib ) or the stitch for the edge of the blanket ( like a garter). Those are the decisions that dictate the cast-on .
Judy - I'm not sure what a Lagan is - I tried to research but didn't really get much info - also it's difficult to tell you since I don't have any idea the size of your project or the yarn or your knitting tension. Best to do a swatch and then multiple the results by the size of the project ua-cam.com/video/FNh6akHwC-M/v-deo.html
Hello I am new to loom knitting, about 3 months in and I have made 9 different scarves. I want to use this Moss pattern for a lap gan, but how many pegs do I use. Please help me
do you need to do the u knit for the knit? bc I've seen it done with the flat knit (not sure that's what it's called, but the reverse of the purl)? thank you :) I'm making a baby blanket and want to use this pattern. how did you cast on?
+Sarah Miller-Hess Hi Sarah - you can use any version of the knit stitch - but it will affect the size of the fabric - Here is a post I think will help explain - www.loomahat.com/knit-stitch/
Do you have a video showing the entire project i.e. 1) casting on 2) double moss stitch pattern (which is this video), 3) Casting off and 4) Sewing the panels together for a lapghan? I love this stitch and would like to make a lap sized throw blanket. I also would love to see pictures of the finished project. Really enjoy your videos, thanks so much.
I'm getting ready to do the same for a trow blanket. Super excited. I'm just going to follow each video for each step of the project I want. Super excited to give it a go, and I feel pretty good about being successful, as he is so complete in instruction, great camera angles, and volume, and just the right pace.
Wow, thank God i found your channel through random search on google. & Iam hooked. Wonderful teaching & videos! I don´t know if anyone asked this before but, WHAT is the background cloth you are working on?!?! It looks like a napkin or something. I really like the pattern. Thanks for making looming seem so easy! New subbie here :-)
Hey Denise! Quick question, (this is about looming generally rather than moss stitch) Why do you say not to glue the peg back in if it falls out like it did in your video? I m curious about this because you v emphatic...
If you like the video please consider sharing it and purchasing a pattern - it helps a lot 💛 Thank YOU : loomahat.store

Hi Denise, your instructions are great however if you want to use a 31 peg loom u end up with an extra peg which is out of sync with the every other that you describe. if you knit 1 then purl 1 what stitch do you do on the extra peg?
Which ever stitch you do is fine. The only thing that matters is how you "stack" the stitches. Odd or even number of pegs on the loom is not a biggy.
Does the pattern show up well if you use a heavy weight yarn like a bernat baby (chenille or polar fleece type yarn)?

Will this draw up to close the hat like the e stitch or should I go back to the e stitch at the top so it will draw closed? I am so excited that I can finally knit having failed at it at least 10 times.
Keep in mind that the eWrap is larger then the other versions
Here is the link to the pattern where you will have a stitch chart so that you can see what I'm saying www.loomahat.com/double-moss-stitch/

Love this, but one question. Is it best to use thin yarn or bulky?
Tiana Wendling Depends on the gauge of your loom With Knifty Knitter , Boye and Micheals' Loops and Threads you should use medium worsted weight (4) or higher,
denise
Do you have a video that shows from the very beginning? I'm new and I would like to see this from the start.
Carmen A Hi Carmen - I will be making a video soon because this is only for the stitch and not a complete project. But you can watch the video for the scarf - it will help with starting and finishing a square: ua-cam.com/video/WdxFdqy6u1s/v-deo.html
LoomaHat.com thanks
LoomaHat.com
I'm new as well. So I'm looking forward to full video on how to make scarves and such....
@@melodyjwilloughby use a chain cast on and follow the stitch pattern
@LoomaHat how do u know how wide to make it? if I use a 40 peg how wide will it be?
Hi please keep in mind that this video is for a stitch pattern and not a project. The project determines how wide. To size your project for a 40 peg loom you would need to knit it on a 40 peg loom and measure.
I love your videos. do you have any videos of loom knitting dishcloths?
+Michelle Fitchett Not yet - but here is something pretty close to it: www.loomahat.com/textured-stripes-square/
Thankyou
what cast on and cast off did you do I am also making squares for a blanket
Ange Handke Hi Ange - Here is a link to a video for a scarf - will show it starting and ending a square : ua-cam.com/video/WdxFdqy6u1s/v-deo.html
can this be done on a infinity loom? is a 6 ply yarn to thick for this pattern?
+Brenda Watkins This pattern is very flexible - yes the yarn and the loom will work fine
thanks so much!
How much yarn would a Lagan take? Thank you that is a beautiful stitch can not wait to do it!
+LoomaHat.com Thank you :)
I love this! By any chance can this be made into a scarf? Thanks! :)
Tara Minyard YES! If you do would you email me a pic so that I can share it on my blog and Facebook page. denise@loomahat.com
Thank you!
Do you do the e wrap cast on?
Depending on the project
hi! how do you end this pattern? Same as the cast on?
Hi Jennifer - I end most of my stitch patterns the same way - click link - www.loomahat.com/start-my-stitch-patterns/
I like it. you know what. I will start a hat using ur stitch right now. thank u for sharing.
ummmomen You are VERY welcome, denise
You said you were going to attach the squares do you have a video on how to do that? It would be helpful for me!!
Jennifer Vanderwal Not yet .. but search for the mattress stitch and that should help

muchas gracias me es de muchisima ayuda
Can I use this stitch on a Kb serenity s loom
Absolutely ! 💛
What would it look like if you did the E-wrap instead of the U-wrap?
K Sulkins The knit would be loose - not nice and tight which makes the pattern more defined.
wow good lecture
Thank you
Thank you for the Thank you Kim I really appreciate it !
New subbie here :-)
+QuirkySassy Gal The background is a draw-liner from Home Depot :) - keeps the loom from moving around. Thanks for subscribing !
Thank you.
Hey Denise! Quick question, (this is about looming generally rather than moss stitch) Why do you say not to glue the peg back in if it falls out like it did in your video? I m curious about this because you v emphatic...
You may find a pattern where you want remove a peg/s ... Change peg color to use as a marker or replace a broken peg
LoomaHat.com Thank You so much for your reply. Btw I love your all videos!
what size of wool or yarn are you using for this pattern?
Brenda Watkins Worsted weight yarn - I was actually testing this stitch and used the Red Heart Economy.
Lindo trabalho!! quero fazer no telar retangular de trico...sabe como fazer?
