A good similar strat to that is actually what Julius ceasar did in the Battle of Alesia

this is why I love wc3 though Grubby's FS micro on full display, also keeping most of his peons alive. this seems meme-y but it's way harder to stop than you think if someone micros like this.
All while talking intricate nonsense about LOTR and answering questions from chat -- guy's brain is impressive.

I unironically used this same strategy to beat the first level of Age of Myth's expansion campaign. The Atlantean miracles provided sucked and you couldn't make any myth units against a far larger opponent...so I tower+fort creeped to victory out of desperation.

If I remember correctly then the _Chinese Wall_ was not build to keep raiders out but to stop them from leaving with the loot.

Ok I know this one will be hard to pull off but let's have Archmage as Karl Marx, leading the rally of the proletariat.
1 - Power creep the AM till level 6 for mass teleport
2 - Get all of the militia armory upgrades + inner fire, idk
3 - Have a fake sheep being the spy saboteur inside their base
4 - Get 95 peons to turn into militia, and mass teleport them into the opponent's base
5 - As soon as their base gets destroyed, start building your owns and get the peons on mining.
6 - Just yell the following to the enemy: "DISTRIBUTIVE JUSTICE FOR THE OPPRESSED"

I don't understand how strats like this work lol. Like, how can someone win with one hero while spending all their gold and lumber into towers that don't do anything? That's crazy to me
That's the beauty of WC3. This works for several reasons, one of them is because of the difference is skill level between Grubby and his opponent. Other advantages are that he always stays in lower upkeep, he can spam spells because he has a lot of hold spend on pots and he can snipe repairing wisps with chain l.
Such strats can work only when there is a huge skill gap between the opponents.
Basically you are depriving them of any XP for their heroes while your hero slowly takes over. If he had built counter-towers and expanded he could have won with late game units, instead he fed the Farseer.

Grubby do "Silk Road" strategy. Build an actual solid great WALL (barracks, farm, limber mill, towers whatever is most aesthetically pleasing but also still feasible) from your base to a nearby expo gold mine.
Mine it out completely using a multitude of long distance mining peasants.
Attack only when mine is mined out.
It may be a challenge, but it won't be fun to watch

Grubster's skills and gamr knowledge are what win him the game but y'all gotta admit towers are kinda op in wc3. They have huge hp, good armor, good damage and are somewhat affordable. They can't move and are weak to siege but supported by an army they are formidable.

If a legendary player says a strategy is 'Disgusting' well it has to be pretty cheesy.
Too bad the walls from wc2 didn't get brought into wc3 just so that grubby could use them for this challenge.

So on that topic, why not give everyone FIVE fake rings except for frodo, who gets one fake ring and the real ring. That way if anyone gets captured or looted after dying, it will be obvious to sauron's armies that fake rings exist (after one tries them on and sees that nothing happens).
In case Frodo himself dies, there is only a 20% chance that the urukhai try the real ring on, meaning they may try some of the other rings and just dump them all when they see they don't work (unlikely that they test them all since the orcs are not particularly patient)
Then at the end have the eagles also carrying 50 rings each in a bag, and toss them also into the volcano just to further confuse the orcs.

I think the great Chinese wall was an bad idea, too easy to just break it down at one place and then go through with your army cause you can't man the whole distance of it, only with watchers but not actual army. Better just build city walls and fortresses as usual.
It was a check against nomadic tribes who weren't much good a siegecraft. It didn't need to be impervious to attack, just keep a horde of horse archers feom slipping into the interior unnoticed and before a response could be mustered. It was basically a deterent for small raids and a trip wire for big ones.
The mongols sieged many city's. And not much of a trip wire for big invasions, the cost of it too large to the benefits (as shown by history, constant nomadic invasions despite the wall).
Uh you might want to look at the timeline again brother. The wall absolutely did work. The mo gold weren’t able to bypass it until it had been allowed to fall into a state of disrepair and the kingdoms responsible for sections of it stopped manning the forts along it. Until then it Did it’s job admirably. It wasn’t until ot was abandoned for much of its length it became useless.
Also the mongols didn’t siege many cities until AFTER they had captured Chinese engineers to teach them siege craft and to build siege engines for them. Which happened after they passed the Great Wall which at that point and time was falling apart and undermanned due to complacency. And lack of funding.
@@bertellijustin6376 Nomadic tribes from the north had been the scourge of the Chinese long before the Mongol invasion that occupied the entirety of China, it was among others the mongols under different names, sieging cities was no news for them, they had been sieging cities under different tribal names since a very long time.
And I have read about chinese history in swedish, the wall was too long to be well defended so I would claim building fortresses in cities would be more cost effective due to apparent reasons...

No directly attacking enemy main base, only allowed to take expansions, have to tire out enemy by playing turtle all game until they leave, must take all bases, pref undead.
That game would be as tiring as you asking 130 days for this challenge.
Why bother? I could watch anyone do this because that's your average player.
