      It was my second season as a young season ticket holder at City (I’ve still got it to this day!). We had a great 5-2 win over Spurs and a lot was made over the new Spurs ‘foreign’ contingent at the time. Remember Jurgen getting brought down by Dibble for a pen early on and getting a load of stick from the fans for ‘diving’! 😅

    Summer of ‘94. What a great time for Football. I remember this transfer so clearly. Was great to have him in the Premiership. Who remembers the 4-3 away game against Sheffield Wednesday? Klinsmann was such a good player. Would be interesting to see how much guys like him, Bergkamp, Baggio, Romario (that generation) would go for now. Would put the modern players to shame.

      People really look back with rose tinted glasses 😂 spurs were shocking when Alan sugar owned them, highest we finished was 7th in those 10 years but mostly finished in the bottom half of the table. ENIC take us to champions league football finish second in the league and build one of the best stadiums in Europe and you have the cheek to say they have no ambition 😂 some spurs fans need to give their head a wobble.

    Hard to believe that this will be 31 years ago this summer.
    The last time we actually signed a world class player at the peak of his powers, a genuinely jaw dropping transfer. Klinsmann signed with no European football, as well as a -12 points deduction & being out of the F.A cup (both overturned later) but still joined us.
    Way before the game changing stadium and being one of the richest football clubs in the planet. The lies Levy has fed us and continues to do so.
    Really hope that a majority of the Spurs fans see what's happening and take action.

I have tried thinking back over the last 20 years and honestly I can think of some world class players but not signed as such and at their peak like Modric and Bale for instance. Klinsmann is a legend but the Premier League had gotten so bad in the late 80's/early 90's that seemingly any foreign player would just come in and rip it apart. You got so excited when your team went out and bought a foreigner because they were all seen as much better than what we had. Cantona, Ravanelli, Begkamp, Zola, Ginola, Gullit, Overmars you name it. To them it must have felt like dropping down a division.

    • @alfredthegreat9543
      @alfredthegreat9543 21 годину тому +2

      1) Premier League started 1992.
      2) The old 1st division was not bad at all- the ban in Europe after the Heysel Disaster set it back, just look at how English clubs were dominating the European Cup up till then.
      3) No, none felt they were dropping down a division at all. Every game was fast and tough- many foreign players also couldn't handle it and made little impact.
      By the way, top Spanish and Italian sides were built around foreigners correct? Their fans got excited too right?
