Jaleel is such a good guy. You can just tell. He doesn’t use twitter all that much anymore, but he used to tweet a lot about sports. I’d go back and forth with him about sports topics all the time, and one day after we talked about a baseball game, he followed me back! I definitely want to read his book, I’m sure it’s packed with great stories.
I liked the first few seasons, but then it starting getting kind of strange. It started getting really weird as soon as Steve started changing into Stefan.
When I was 12 years old, Steve Urkel made a surprise appearance at my cousin's 13th birthday. This was nearly two years after Urkel first graced our TV screens. Of course, it wasn't Jaleel White, but a professional impersonator who was maybe two or three years younger than me. Throughout the entire Urkel antics, my cousin sat there in facepalm mode, like "Really, Mom?" with a fake smile. NGL, we were all embarrassed for Urkel as well, but showed him some love for his effort and showmanship. Looking back, I can't help but to admire that kid's parents for keeping him grounded and on the straight and narrow. How many pre-teens can say that their first job was a party entertainer, as opposed to bagging groceries?
The real reason as to why Family Matters was cancelled is actually quite tragic. There were plans for a 10th & final season that would have ended with Steve & Laura's wedding & would have seen a bunch of characters from the 1st 8 Seasons return, but it didn't happen for a few reasons; the actress who portrayed Myra died from cancer, the actress who had portrayed Harriet since Season 1 left the show & was replaced halfway through Season 9, & part of the studio & set was destroyed in a fire. So, ultimately Season 10 never happened, which is also a shame since some elements for this final season were actually set up in Season 9, but they were never finished.
Jaleel aging backward. A big part of my childhood watching the reruns of _Family Matters_ but come to find out later that he is the OG voice of Sonic the Hedgehog? The man is a legend.
Indeed. I used to watch the adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog every morning before school in the mid 90s. Then I'd watch the more darker version of Sonic on Saturday mornings on ABC. Two different Sonic shows running at the same time was glorious. Jaleel is a legend.
When I lived in LA in the 90s, I would go to Westwood (UCLA) and play pickup games in the gym. We’d see each other all the time and give each other dap.
He said in 2013 the old producers reached out to him about Netflix wanting a reboot and he said he didnt want to follow Fuller House. He then told the dude that people are Intrested in his memiors and he said dont nobody care about your memiors he then responed its 10 years later and that people were still asking. I think he owed it to everyone in the cast to call and ask is everyone willing to reunite for as many seasons as they can get because he took over a show that wasnt even his. The show was a spin off Perfect Strangers for Harriet.
“I’m consistently who I’ve always wanted to be” -and that really is something to be proud of Jaleel, 30 years later, after all the ups and downs in the entertainment business, to be able to say “yup, I’m still me and I’m who I wanted to be” is a testament to character and hard work.
He was my favorite character on family matters.. I grew up in United States watching American comedies .. From Different Strokes and the Brady Bunch.. ❤😂..
If Metal Sonic makes a appearance in the Sonic Movie, all of us fans need to start a petition to get Jaleel White to voice him. Jaleel White (the voice of Sonic in the 90s cartoons) vs Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz).
"Thats our Jaleel" - really hectic that you have poured it all out on a few pages, awesome book cover.. brilliant career Mr White and theres definitely more to come I guess, take care
Have to say- met Jaleel once and really wasn’t a nice guy. Maybe he was having a bad day but I’ve heard the same from others. Shawn Harrison-who played Waldo, on the other hand-one of the nicest guys you’ll meet
Is someone gonna tell him that we don’t care. Years of silence then reemerging w an unsolicited book about what? No movies/shows after the show ended and now here he is trying to still make money off of Urkel
The show became iconic. With all due respect to the original Family Matters, it wasn't going to have the run it had without Urkel. Yeah, the last couple of seasons may have gotten a bit crazy when it was essentially all Urkel, but he helped make the show become iconic.
This was incredible. So happy to stumble across this, definitely worth the watch.
Jaleel is such a good guy. You can just tell. He doesn’t use twitter all that much anymore, but he used to tweet a lot about sports. I’d go back and forth with him about sports topics all the time, and one day after we talked about a baseball game, he followed me back!

He’s answered me before on Twitter too. But like you said, I don’t think he goes on there anymore.
He should have called his memoir “did I do that?”
That really is a good suggestion. Maybe his next book will use that title.
"That's NO GOOD: Jaleel White's Story"
Look what you did! 👉
That woulda been EXCELLENT!
If he releases a book of wise words/positivity thinking or a feel-good book, it can be called Urkel-O's.
The OG voice of Sonic.
Be real. He's the only voice of Sonic. If anybody says different, they're lying.
🎉🎉🎉 yes he is
Jaleel with that THRILLER inpiration book cover!
😂😂😂😂
That's what I was thinking too.
This is so great thank you Jaleel White for being Steve Urkel and bringing so much laughter to Family Matters!!!
We need a shirt that says “I have just entered my STEFAN era”
Family Matters top 10 sitcom of all time no doubt! Classic show I love it
I liked the first few seasons, but then it starting getting kind of strange. It started getting really weird as soon as Steve started changing into Stefan.
@@jenniferhansen3622 it was still OK when he first turned Stefan. But then when they kept it going, the show got weird.
@@Jacob-nu4nd Yes. I can't remember the exact episode, but it was at some point after he showed up. 😉
Jaleel as Urkel and the voice of Sonic The Hedgehog was legendary within the sphere of pop culture in the 90s.

Less is more
I never get tired of insight into this show

Interesting. Thank you for sharing.
😮😮😮 Wow, thanks for that info
Im pretty sure i stopped watching on or before Harriet left. He just got too old. The Myrtle character was a blast but this is cool info
❤❤❤❤❤ a classic show wish that they would have done the wedding as the final episode
High school and hit show simultaneously. That must have been a trip!

Love Jaleel hes so grounded and such a nice guy. Still remember that old Scion commerical. he really great person
Hard to believe he's pushing 50, but it's amazing!
I love ❤️ this young man and loved ❤ him since the beginning!

Stefan Urkel just hit RIGHT!!!!!!
He said in 2013 the old producers reached out to him about Netflix wanting a reboot and he said he didnt want to follow Fuller House. Jaleel i still love him as steve he made laugh for years😂
He got the Teddy Pendergrass, Michael Jackson, Isley Brothers pose going on
I love it! 😂
I was called “Four Eyes”. 😂🤣 That was the joke in my days.
So I had the bright idea of deliberately breaking my new bifocals in half thinking my mom wouldn’t have to wear them…my mom taped them together. 😂
He also did a good job voicing Iconic video game character Sonic the Hedgehog back in the 90’s it’s available on DVD
He was my favorite character on family matters.. I grew up in United States watching American comedies .. From Different Strokes and the Brady Bunch.. ❤😂..
How can one be so smart at such young age 🙌🏾
Steve urkel's character said to me, "Like yourself!"

God bless Jaleel, he’s a living legend ❤️
im glad that he didnt grow up washed up from drugs, and now broke. like a lot of child actors. good for him.
Me too I'm glad he's known for other things besides Urkel. He now host a game show on GSN called Flip Side.
He has such a unique voice.
Happy Early 48th Birthday. 🎂
I drooled over Stephan all the time. He is a gorgeous man!!!!!
God he has grown up so much. An he is the only child, an real life.
jaleel is a great actor I think he is going to get a big role one day
He already had a huge role
@squarebiz90 we are talking in the future

Wow I love this!
I’m sorry but I’m extremely bothered that she kept saying “Ur-kel” when it’s definitely Urkel
Im 48 so is Jaleel cause i look him up as make sure, lol he hosts a game show on the Game Show Network.
It's called Flip Side
Love him in Family Matters as Urkle
I love him ❤❤❤
“Did I do that” 😅😂
"look what you did"😅
Bro looks great… anyone ever seen “who made the potato salad” 😂
I can never take him seriously...
The book must be good. He has the iconic lean on the cover.😅
Talented young man so funny
Long Live Urkel
Jaleel White was so hated that they sent him off to space so they could not bring him back.
did I do that
And he's the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog
The male interviewer looks super bored and disengaged in this interview
I noticed that too
He may not be a Family Matters fan or sadly probably not a fan of Jaleel?
Is someone gonna tell him that we don’t care. Years of silence then reemerging w an unsolicited book about what? No movies/shows after the show ended and now here he is trying to still make money off of Urkel
They ruined FM when he started doing the Stephan garbage!
💙😊
Was he not allowed to speak on his knew show he hosting
He hasn't aged a day
😭😭😭 Why is she pronouncing his characters name like that lol!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 classic
Is that stephon
Even though I love Urkel he really did ruin the show. It was suppose to be about Family Matters. But it turned into a silly sitcom with weird moments.
Yaass
The show became iconic. With all due respect to the original Family Matters, it wasn't going to have the run it had without Urkel. Yeah, the last couple of seasons may have gotten a bit crazy when it was essentially all Urkel, but he helped make the show become iconic.
Carl
I am a writer and director >>>I have great project available if he would like to produce it. He will NOT be disappointed. NOT AT ALL
