    Hey, (I'm guy in white) thanks for taking the time to review my video! If anyone has any tips or advice for me I'm open to any comments. Also, yes our plan was to keep away from the guy since we lost to them in pool play challenging him too much.

      I think you. Like have targeted the girl in green to win easily. She popped everything up to be a kill shot. Poach more on some shots that are floating - read the opponents paddle and poach.

      Nice game by all. I'm with Rory stating that you are at the 3.5 level. It's funny to me when watching these videos and seeing the comments that tend to want to lower the rating of players. First of all, video does not do justice to the speed of the game and secondly, it's easy to criticize certain missed shots or popups and forget how often it happens in their games. Anyway, thanks for submitting the video to Rory.

    many of the DUPRs have low reliability scores ... but current DUPRs are 4.1 for the lady in white, 3.7 for the guy in white, 4.2 for the lady in green, 4.1 for the (tall) guy in black

      @@pickleballpick-apart9787 the DUPRs were after those wins to get to the gold medal game, and they had relatively few games, so they likely increased quite a bit from pre-tournament

    Great game! Unfortunately the girl in green just doesnt have put away power on her shots. Shes solid otherwise but you MUST capitalize on those smashes! Smart to target because long armed guy in green was clearly the best player.

    Yes, they should be playing closer to 4.0. Good dinking, drops and strategy. Comments from those that say 3.0 do not understand ratings criteria. The girl in green was the weakest due to 2 things; she did not poach balls on some elevated cross shots but most importantly she needs to keep the ball down. Way too many elevated shots.

    The overall play in this game switches back & forth from 3.5 to 4.0 . Some rallies were even as good as 4.5 . Any combination of any of these players would be fun & challenging to play against .

    Bree the girl in white, hits a great inside / out shot at 8:06. she is very consistent and deceptive with that shot. Justin is extremely patient with shot selection and his dinking.

    Wow---I saved this video for future reference. Great rallies and yes, I believe they are close to 4.0 or 4.0 (in the Northeast) but that's who competes in a 3.5 gold match, right?

    I agree 4.0 sandbaggers but that is what most people have come to expect in tournament play

      Thanks for your comment. I have played in a number of tournaments. I don't really find that many players playing down. I see more players playing up and getting their butts kicked.

    Rory,
    Shortly after 15:08, you say "Perfect shake and bake"
    The lady in white's 3rd shot was a drop.
    I know there are variations but a key element of every shake and bake is a hard 3rd shot drive (Shake) by player A, normally to the advancing player's feet. Player B, anticipates a good drive causing a pop-up and advances forward, finishing with a 5th shot put-away (Bake).
    No 3rd shot drive, no shake and bake. That is my understanding.
    Is that correct?

    • @pickleballpick-apart9787
      @pickleballpick-apart9787  Місяць тому +1

      That's correct. A shake and bake is a third shot drive, followed by a put away. I guess what happened is, she popped up the third shot drop and her partner put it away, so I called it a shake and bake. Same result, just not a true shake and bake. Thanks for pointing that out.

      @@pickleballpick-apart9787 I'm still trying to figure my rating. I use these videos to judge my skill set. I suppose I am in the 4.0 range. I'm sure I would beat these guys handily.I am now beginning to look for opportunities to play tournaments. But I don't have a partner. Do tournaments require me to sign up as a 'team'? Or can I sign up as a single 'looking' for a partner? Not sure how it works.

    They are 3.5, maybe a touch more aware than most at that level but many mistakes were made that a 4.0 would not do
    Lots of pop ups and missed opportunities that the lack of skill shows. They will get better and they do understand how to actual play pickleball and have a good idea of fundamentals

  • @Vanessa-pe2xs

      The video doesn’t say the girl in green is 4.0.
      IIRC, Rory said the tall guy might be at that level.
      The video title says 3.5.
      “Poor girl in green” is a strange comment.

      @CWK090 I was replying to Rorys comment that these players look like they could be 4.0s. I don't think any are at 4.0 level. As for the girl in green, she was obviously the weakest and was brutally targeted the entire match. Hence, my "poor girl" comment. By the way, she held her own, so Kudos!

    There’s nothing slow about this game. No resets. It’s 3/4 hits and the point is over. Control the shots at this level. Have purpose with your shits at this level. I see a lot of hail Mary’s here.

    • @megantannehill7831
      @megantannehill7831 Місяць тому

      His height is his only advantage but that doesn’t make him a 4.0. Our 3.5 players would eat him alive here. It depends what area you play because this would not be 3.5 play in general. Too many fundamentals missing.

  • @megantannehill7831
    @megantannehill7831 Місяць тому

    I don’t know what state this is in, but this is not 3.5 play. The girl in Green is maybe a 3.25 tops. No strategy. No proper footwork. All of them lacking basic skills to play 3.5 level.

    • @pickleballpick-apart9787
      @pickleballpick-apart9787  Місяць тому +2

      Well, I'm sorry, we're just going to have to disagree. I watch hundreds of games on UA-cam every couple of weeks. I've seen 3.5 players much, much worse than these players.. I would put these players against any 3.5 players.

    • @megantannehill7831
      @megantannehill7831 Місяць тому +1

      @@pickleballpick-apart9787 you see way more players across the country than I do, thus my comment about “what State they are in”. I’m finding that “3.5” play is different in each State. Per this video, they would get crushed in 3.5 play in California, but maybe in Illinois it would be gold medal play at 3.5 level.
