Wonderful
U r welcome thanks
Didn’t fancy changing the discs , cleaning the carrier or addressing the uneven wear on the pads no?
How does the piston turn to push the pads out? Is the brake pedal causing the piston to rotate out or is it the emergency brake?
You should clean the carrier with brake cleaner then apply copper grease not ordinary grease as it disperses temperature has anti corrosion properties and helps prevent brake squeal.
You are welcome thanks
Copper grease shouldn't be used either. It clogs up with shit and goes like a paste rather than grease. High temperature grease is the way forward. 👌
I have this fun task to do on mine tomorrow, thanks for the informative video and giving me the confidence to do it well done.
Good luck 👍
@@diykhan Annoyingly, the pads Bennets supplied were too long lengthways so I had to get a mobile mechanic to fit them who took about 2cm off the pads at either end using a cutting saw, otherwise, I would have been able to do it myself and found the process quite easy to do.
@@SeeDoTravel in most cases the pads r the right size its the rust around the clamp which makes it hard to slide the new pads in.
@@diykhan wasn't the rust pads were of poor quality, mechanic said if he gets ones like them he just sent them back and gets another set😂 live and learn
@@SeeDoTravel yes he is right
Thanks for the encouraging me to do it myself next time. Could you make a video about the hand break, I have head so much trouble with calipers and adjusting the hand brake? It seems it stuck and ruined both my break pads and the disc on the left side :(
There is a video on my channel about changing the hand brake cable. You are welcome thanks 😊
Nice video, why didn't you open the bleed nipple when widing hack the caliper?
That would just end up letting air get into the system... not good... but he could open master cylinder cap under the hood.. the brake fluid would flow back into that.. 😊
Cheers 👍
Thank you 😊
This was a helpful video. Thanks
You are welcome thanks
What year model was this for
2007
when you push back the caliper's piston doesn't take air the brake system?
As long as u don't take any of the brake pipes off then the air doesn't get in n u don't have to bleed the callipers.
Hi sorry for jumping on your question but can I use a c clamp instead of the winding tool? I have a clamp that I used on previous cars but in the video I notice you wind this piston back. Will it be ok if I push it back instead . Tia
Its got to be winding tool only
Thanks for video
You are welcome thanks 😊
do you have to turn the piston, can you push it back?
Hi. No need to turn. You can push it back easily.
@@diykhan But why does everybody turn it back with special tool? 🙂
@@Tintoycar sorry I was wrong. I got confused with one of my other videos where I m Replacing the rear brake drum piston. Yes u have to wind the piston back. While u r turning it back u will have to take off the brake fluid reservoir cap so that the pressure can get released. Also u can buy a brake piston winding kit with two winders which clearly states that they r for rear right or left side. Best of luck 👍
@@diykhan Thank You! Greetings from Belgium.
You are welcome 😊
Is this a honda civic 2007
Yes 2007 year
Should have changed the rotors along with the pads.
I totally agree. If he got to the point where there was a metal-to-metal contact than the rotors have been damaged to some degree.
i would have fitted new discs as well they are only £30 a pair
Yes you are right
Too much grease on the Guide pins, they just need a light smear.
No one ever shows how the little metal things that come with the breaks get replaced just
You can just pry them out with a flat head screwdriver Then clean any rust on the caliper bracket. Lube with brake lube, And install the new metal brackets. Lube them too. Then install your pads. It's that easy :)
Doesn’t say which civic it is there’s like 10 generations
This one is 2007 year.
messy you ain't working on my car
You might want to put some gloves on next time
Yes sure. Thanks
Gloves are for fannies.
@@shifty2755 cool with that :D
This is how not to do it correctly.😂
Use gloves and mask next time brother
