To put a bit of info out to mine vs the Combi spec here.
I have the Citroen in Business spec, 50kWh and XL (5.30m long). It’s a €51k car OTR after the grant of €5k. Traded in my L40 Leaf for this.
What you get by going up the spec, of note:
Isofix in rear row + split 60:40, gives 6 isofix all in!
Plastic moulded panels on the inside 🤣 but do get cup holders & 12v socket in the rear.
Rear reversing camera.
Painted bumpers, fog lights.
Hub caps.
Tints on the rear, big thing with kids, but could be darker than what is from the factory.
100kW charging, hit 91/92kW at about 28% SOC, so FCP is decent.
What you don’t get, and frankly the ‘bad points’ due to constraints in supply currently, in my Citroen anyway:
Mirrors are not body coloured (maybe an odd spec’d car though).
No charge or heat timer!!!!
No leather.
No heated seats.
No steering wheel controls.
No glass roofs.
No built in Sat nav, energy flow, vehicle stats.
No ACC, No Head up display.
No opening rear window in the boot for dropping in shopping.
No LED lights, still halogen except front DRLs. And they are poor at night, dips will be upgraded this week or next to Osram Nightbreaker Lasers.
IMO, the higher spec in Ireland is not a higher spec worth getting, and I had a Combi on order originally. Personally if I could have gotten it, I would have spent the additional €6k from Combi to Business spec and if available, gotten the 75kWh battery instead, it itself a €6k option as well.
It’s not all negative, it’s a sign of the times TBH. Citroen spec is shown in the configuration and sheets as to what you get, which is what I have, just the website shows a lot more that used to be there, so you know what’s missing!!
Having space for 6 of us as of 2-3 weeks to come it’s a massive thing to have a car like this. Real world getting about 160kms+ at the min to the Low Battery warning. So another 10-15kms left in it comfortably.
It drives surprisingly well down a back road, good grip from it (Michelin Primacy 4, 225/55R17) and I have had some fun with a few BMW’s/Golf’s down a back road so far 🤫 it’s not super fast for acceleration, but for a 2 ton machine before you get in it, it moves off a line quickly enough, dies off about 70-80kph, overtakes require planning.
Brakes are a bit funny, constant pedal position has brakes coming on and off (a v. small but noticeable amount) as the car slows, like the ECU hasn’t had enough work to get the BBW setup well enough!
Steering feels strange as the wheels are under your feet at the front, but you get used to it. And it’s a made yoke for the juice, 24.7kWh/100kms and we haven’t even hit an ounce of cold weather, or driving at motorway speeds (100-105kph on motorways).
Between the lack of heating timer and cold weather combination I won’t see this doing more than 120kms at a push in the winter, as you said it the review to be fair!
Overall it’s a fantastic car though, I wouldn’t got back to my Leaf from it! Despite the lack of modern tech the Leaf had (amazingly!!) versus this, I can’t stop smiling driving this wagon, it is utterly & ridiculously brilliant!! For €20-30k less to an equivalent VW ID.Buzz or Mercedes-Benz Viano I would take this. It’s a people carrier, and it does it very well 👌🏻

Good review..a bit basic for me but it's good that if your budget conscious that's the one for you..the one thing I've learned from electric cars is ..if you don't have a home charger your paying twice as much for charging (public charging approx 30c per kilowatt as apposed to 16c per kilowatt night home charge)

I want one, but it’s got to have a 75kwh battery for me as I tow a trailer full of camping gear. I would not expect much range towing with a 50 kWh battery on a motorway. I have the same concerns for the Combo-E. I feel the MG5 estate maybe the better fit.

Great review Derek. I'm a taxi driver myself and am looking to change my van for an EV. Does the Vivaro e come with pre-heating capability , or is it possible to pre-heat it from a smart charger. This ability would be quite an important factor for me . I'm told the Peugeot e Traveller has pre-heat via the app. Thanks Derek.

"Hi Derek, the vehicle must be ordered with a specific code / feature for the MyOpel app to allow pre-heating. In the first Vivaro-e passenger car models it wasn’t standard. There's small number of Zafira-e / Vivaro-e Combi in stock that don’t have preheating but anything going into production from now will have it. Your enquirer needs to be specific with the salesperson to ensure his unit, if he proceeds, has the Opel Connect feature."

Hi, Have Renault come out with an Electric 9 seater. I have the newer Traffic 2 litre but will change to Electric when finance has finished in a few years.
By then there will be even better battery technology.
Shame there's no 8 seat option so you can move from the front into the back between the front seats
