  • Dr Bob brings you SCP Foundation Euclid Class object, SCP-1102 Blue Ridge Phenomenon Animation.
Join the DR BOB SQUAD by going to / drbob and become an Honorary Member of the Dr. Bob Research Staff!
SCP 1102 is a phenomenon localized in the Blue Ridge Mountain range in the eastern USA, though evidence suggests it may also include an area as far south as mid-Georgia and Alabama.
The exact cause of the effect is unknown, as no external factor has affected any facet of SCP1102 .
The effect occurs only at night, during periods of rain or snow, and targets deceased bodies within a small, randomly selected area.
The dominant urge in all subjects, human or otherwise, seems to be one of returning or rejoining other members of the original species.
All entities completely vanish at some point in the same night that their appearance occurs, usually shortly before sunrise.

Damn, those were the most chill zombies I've ever heard about. Didn't attack anyone, didn't try to eat anyone's brain, just invaded peoples personal space, smelled bad, and stared in a somewhat creepy manner. Definitely could have been worse lol.

It’s a metaphor to humans being social creatures, no matter how we’re or what we’re, we never truly or instinctively want to be alone, we literally cannot survive if that would be the case. I also noticed that they only followed those who were horrified and kind of panicked, as if they couldn’t stand the rejection or tried/wanted to calm them down and prove that they’re perfectly human and harmless. Another thing that makes me think is that, they kind of resemble some humans in the society, you might feel or think that everybody are perfectly normal, that being far from the case, because some people are simply feel like imposters and kind of creepy once you learn their true nature and what they’re hiding and are kind of comparable to animals because they lack much of self awareness and morality, that could be anyone, some of us try to live and act “normal” to be accepted, those might include creepers, stalkers, psychos, most of murderers, rude people(who have little to no reason to be) etc., and funny enough, some bullies if not all.
Being different is actually one of the reasons why wars occur between different countries.
I don’t know if you got the intended idea I shared, but hope at least you feel what I’m talking about

Actually happened to my grandfather & his crew when he was the admin in one of the old mills in Del Norte. They were just sitting around a fire eating/drinking after the work day when some random "hobo guy" walked up out of nowhere & sat around the fire with them. Not a word spoken, didn't respond to attempts at conversation. He would've had to walk almost 20 miles on unpaved road to get to that location; everyone drove or got a ride, yet this guy came out of the forest, not from the gate that the road led to. It was incredibly bizarre, but after a couple hours he left back into the forest the same way he came. Noone, even to this day, knew what to make of it, but my grandfather never thought it was a ghost despite others thinking so.

This could suggest that the brain scans that were performed by the Foundation on some of the corpses are being spoofed by the anomaly to display the exact opposite of what is true to deter curiosity and prevent research, as it doesn’t want them to know the truth. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time an anomaly has caused the Foundation’s technology to malfunction/act up/display inaccurate information compared to what it’s actually receiving or detecting/etc. These corpses could be far more intelligent than we could ever comprehend.
This intelligence could be so high that they could detect any potential future events before the signs even appear, which would be particularly handy in the event that the future event in question was going to be particularly dangerous to human life, as was the case here.
This could suggest that the reason they don’t appear to do anything or interact socially is because since the thing they want most is company, they don’t see a point in doing anything unless they need to take matters into their own hands. Is everyone leaving? Get up and follow. Is a dangerous event about to take place? Protect the people and minimalize the casualties since someone is inevitably going to die.
This is plausible since when the ones who weren’t corpses got up, the corpses got up at the exact same time, almost as if though they timed it right down to the millisecond.
The corpse with the tattered waterproof clothing seemed somewhat distressed and alerted judging by his facial expression, which went from a tired, neutral, depressed and generally disinterested expression to one of complete shock (wide eyes, mouth slightly ajar) when he heard the woman closing her tent, as if though he had already learned that a fire was somehow going to occur and that he needed to ensure she couldn’t go near it. When he was pinning her down on her lap, he was trying to say “Don’t get up./Don’t come out of the tent. You don’t know whats about to happen. It’s too dangerous.”
The other corpses would then slowly make the same realization and do the same, going to her tent to pin her down so she couldn’t approach the burning hostel, all with the same intended message of incoming danger and needing to stay put. Newly arriving corpses would then come in and realize what was happening, and would then follow suit to take matters into their own hands, hence why there were 11 people around the campfire and some weren’t corpses yet she counted 12 in the tent.
All in all a very heartfelt anomaly whose victims it brings back from the dead feel lonely and seek company, and are willing to protect a complete stranger when they feel that said company is being threatened, all so that they don’t have to go through that they did.
Long story short, the brain scans are total lies, the corpses are intelligent enough to sense an event before there’s any evidence it will even happen, want company and will seek to protect said company if said event turns dangerous.

I've heard there is a tribe in Africa that sometimes steals kills from lions by walking in a large group keeping their expressions blank as they approach the feeding pride. Almost every time the lions will panic and run simply because it is such an unsettling and confusing. It is the ultimate test of nerves for all involved so if just menacingly walking can scare off the most deadly terrestrial pack hunting animal, it is not hard to believe it could scare humans into accidentally walking into fire

is this euclid, since it's self contained to the mountain range and they know that, or is it keter since they can't stop it from happening and just actively cover it up when it happens?
has the foundation ever caught one of the zombies and studied it? it mentioned they have minimal brain activity so i assume they have, what happened with that?
just feel like there could be more of a balance between story and info

Dead/missing loved ones coming back to their villages under the protection of a rain god, doing nothing that the Living do, except sit at the local gathering-hall. These ppl may be too far gone from the land of the living to interact with their friends & families, but at least they can provide an opportunity for some closure.

theres something really sad about this SCP. like these people who have died, just trying to get a single semblance of their humanity back by being amongst other humans even though they’ve long been deceased and can’t even support themselves socially anymore. just wanting their existence to be noticeable once more.

2:31 The smell would be pretty bad, considering the place is filled with corpses. Nice touch.
