Clear guide except for one thing: In Shopify under Online Store > Preferences, there's a spot for the GA4 measurement ID which supposedly gives GA4 additional "Enhanced Ecommerce" information. With the Shopify/GTM/GA4 implementation you've recommended, should we also save the measurement ID here or leave it blank? On another guide I found the following statement "Since you won’t be able to see people traveling through the checkout pages in GA4, I recommend adding Universal Analytics to your Shopify store." Wondering what utility this will have. Paying attention to both GA4 and UA sounds exhausting. In Shopify it does say the following about "Enhanced Ecommerce" : "You must upgrade to the latest version of Google Analytics in order to use Enhanced Ecommerce." It seems like it's inferring that it will work with GA4. That said I've also heard this will result in duplicate data. Confusing! Hope you can help! Cheers.
Thanks so much for such great explanation! It all worked. It seems I had already tried to install it before and I already had some tags but did not have the Google Tag code on my shopify store. I did as per the video. I hope there's no chance of duplicating things hahaha thanks again Carol
Hi Julian! Your videos are consistently fantastic. They are quick and easy to understand. It's great to know that you will be explaining how to add more tags in GTM for Shopify. Thank you!
Thank you for putting this together. It's very clear and useful. It may be worth mentioning that you can add the Bogus Gateway for testing payments in Shopify.
I kept getting the error msg "The Google Tag Manager snippet on your site is in the wrong location on the page". After followed your command, it works perfectly! Ok, u got new subscriber +1 😉
Thank you for this. I get following error on Google Tag Assistant chrome extension on thank you page: tag must not be included in a GTM javascript code not found as a direct child of the tag GTM no-script code not found: either missing or not in Not sure what to do. I am guessing above is from script pasted on checkout additonal script.
Hi, thank you for the video however I have encountered an issue where GTM with GA4 is not tracking purchases. Do you have a fix for this please? thank you.
@4:42 How do you enable Additional Scripts on shopidy checkout settings view? I must add GTM to checkout page. Additional scripts is missing on my Checkout settings panel.
For my checkout settings, it looked a bit different from his. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to find additional scripts. It should be under "Order status page"
Hi Julian! First of all, I want to say I am a big fan of your work. Keep up the good work😊 I have a question. Are you planning on creating a video explaining how to set the rest of the tags in Shopify? Best!
Great video Julian, but the issue of GTM no tracking the checkout page can be fixed when the head container is placed in the additional JavaScript code space under Google Analytics Integration. I have also seen you use this technique, why did you decide to drop the tracking technique
Question: I was told by shopify not to do this, to wait til next year 2023 because shopify is not set up for this yet. But I keep finding youtube video's of people saying to do this on shopify...
Hi there, cool content with practical advice :) Could you make an updated version of conversion tracking with value for ecommerce shops on wordpress/shopware/shopify etc? Much love from Nürnberg
Hi Julian. Thanks for the video. Couple of questions regarding this setup. 1) When user lands on TY page after the checkout pages, will the source/medium preserve? 2) Can it be used with Elevar plugin? Honestly, with elevar, I had all ecommerce events except the ones happening in checkout(I have non plus account)
Hello, Julian great video! I was able to install GTM successfully the only page it is not tracking is the thank you page I added exactly what you said in the additional scripts section on Shopify checkout settings but it is still not tracking the thank you page. Do you have any idea why that can be? Did anyone else have this problem? Thank you in advance.
I always try to see your videos. I always learn something new from you. Blessings and love remain for you. I would like to take a premium course. But the cost of your premium course is much higher. Which is not possible for me. So I have to do the course from Udemy.
great video Julian thanks , i have a question tag manager Not Visible in thank you page when i try debug preview , other pages are visible besides the check out you that you mention but thank you page doesn't load on Debug mode
Does it also track conversions/ sales? I installed GA4 by just adding it to the theme code and it tracks everything except the sales. Is there a way to do it?
Thanks for this video! I have a question, when we install GA via GTM, should we be able to see the "site speed" reports automatically? or do we have to do another setting / tag in GTM? Thanks!
I think it might be better if you started from square 1 and not jumped in halfway through the procress. It's like i came here because i knew i didn't have anything set up and you are already jumping past a step....
Did you manage to install Google Tag Manager on your Shopify store correctly? Let me know if this was helpful!
I'm wondering in the above scenario wouldn't that session break and have two sessions as there is no GTM some part of the website
hi, is this a shopify plus store? I have a basic store and its not connected.

Thank you for this. I get following error on Google Tag Assistant chrome extension on thank you page:

Not sure what to do. I am guessing above is from script pasted on checkout additonal script.
Hi, thank you for the video however I have encountered an issue where GTM with GA4 is not tracking purchases. Do you have a fix for this please? thank you.
Great video as always, but quite disappointing that you didn't cover tracking e-commerce data as I now need to find other video for this.
awesome! thanks :) there is now a script option to add scripts to the order status page, does this change anything, is there more possible now?
This is so~~~~~~helpful! Thank you very much!
@4:42 How do you enable Additional Scripts on shopidy checkout settings view? I must add GTM to checkout page. Additional scripts is missing on my Checkout settings panel.
Hi, did you find a solution to this? I have the same issue
For my checkout settings, it looked a bit different from his. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to find additional scripts. It should be under "Order status page"
Thank you so mutch very helpful Content

Yes
If you want to use both GA4 and UA with enhanced ecommerce. What is the best setup in Shopify?
Great video Julian, but the issue of GTM no tracking the checkout page can be fixed when the head container is placed in the additional JavaScript code space under Google Analytics Integration.
I have also seen you use this technique, why did you decide to drop the tracking technique
can you explain this a little more?
What do you mean by 'under google analytics integration'
Question: I was told by shopify not to do this, to wait til next year 2023 because shopify is not set up for this yet. But I keep finding youtube video's of people saying to do this on shopify...

Could you make an updated version of conversion tracking with value for ecommerce shops on wordpress/shopware/shopify etc? Much love from Nürnberg
it worked for me , no error
why doesn't tag manager and analytics show in the google tag assistant legacy extension for chrome?
Hi there! Does this work with Shopify basic? Or just Shopify plus?
I have same issue, getting direct visitors from /orders/ ty page. The sessions are not staying intact.
Thank you! :)
does this guide work also for Shopify basic?
Hello, Julian great video! Do you have any idea why that can be? Did anyone else have this problem?

5:08 If I already have an additional script installed on "order processing", do I just install the GTM code under it? Thanks for the help.
yes, you can
I always try to see your videos. I always learn something new from you. Blessings and love remain for you.

great video Julian thanks , i have a question tag manager Not Visible in thank you page when i try debug preview , other pages are visible besides the check out you that you mention but thank you page doesn't load on Debug mode
then maybe it's not installed correctly.
Thanks!!
you're a beast!!! Need you on my podcast to talk about your journey let me know if you would be interested
