Josh Bruce Thats because Rowling didn’t try too hard to make us like him. It’s hard to sympathize with Wizard Hitler. It’s easier to make him an asshole from day one. In a comedy you can just sweep the racism under the rug, or make it a joke. The worlds already bullshit, so you don’t need to worry about breaking your own rules.

I love the fact that Harry and Voldemort is so similar, it makes things more interesting. I just wish that JK Rowling gave Harry some Slytherin friends or showed his Slytherin side a bit more.
KilhahS that was my one complaint with the ending. I don't think it settled the discourse between Slytherin and all the other houses well enough
Yeah. I think she tell in potter more she regret no writing a scene were some Slytherins were helping defend the castle in the final book
Maybe that's part of why Draco continues to admire him, even though he rejects his friendship for years
I never liked how all slytherins were portrayed as bad unlikeable people. Like they joke in avpm “all the good guys go to gryffindor and all the bad guys go to slytherin and the rest go where ever the hell they want” It’s lazy imo. The only semi likeable slytherin through the whole series was slughorn
She literally created slytherin to just be the evil house, then made it possible for multiple people (including me) to be sorted into it and then be called evil

Random fact: in the wide shot of the Golden Trio before Harry starts to sing the last part of I Was, you can see Joey touching his Gryffindor tie. That's because in the script, Harry is supposed to take off his tie and throw it on the ground. Joey was trying to subtly tell Darren that he needed to take his tie off! Hence why in Act 2 Part 5 when Harry gets to Godric's Hollow, he isn't wearing his tie, Ron was bringing it back to him...but hey, it's StarKid so things go wrong all the time!
Well it was just a run through. I mean Joe forgets to throw the journal when Harry confronts him later. I'm sure if they were able to do a full version of it like the other Very Potter musicals, it would have happened.
I know it was just a run through and I am sure that they forgot a lot more than we saw but I thought it was a nice observation and a sly touch from Joey!

I have a feeling this Whole musical is about the Harry Potter fandom...the fame YA novels have gained, putting HP in the shadow a little, the fact that sometimes we "forget" about HP, but also that we start loving it all over again every time, that it looks like this fandom will never die, een though we've been through the same story over and over again. I think the final speech by Voldemort is also directed at the fandom. And Everything Ends...I mean, I'll probably never leave Harry Potter behind, but, anyways...
Also...how Harry Potter has helped so many people, but now a lot of them has moved on, because that's just how things go
Everytime I watch this I'm just speechless by how Joe's singing voice has improved so much since he started with AVPM and I wish there were more songs like this to prove it because his voice deserves more.

I think, that Darren should have to put down his tie when he said, that Hogwarts used to be his home (4:20), because when Ron finds Harry in Godric's Hollow, he has his tie, and in 4:27, you can see, that Joey is holding his tie like a hint for Darren, but Darren forgot.... it's sweet, how they try to help Darren, because he didn't see the script like at all before the stage reading.... :)

The "bad" characters have been through more. Their suffering piles and builds up to something. Harry just becomes unpopular after he's been popular for much of his life. His problems are less high-stakes because his life is still fine. He has friends and money and good grades, while all Voldemort has is his magic and followers.

This song is probably one of the most emotional, hilarious and gorgeous scenes in the whole trilogy. The emotional roller-coaster, connection with the backstory and harmonies really sum up StarKid's insane talent.
This song makes me feel all weird inside and queezy and I can't explain the feeling it's just so emotional and perfect!

As soon as the first splitscreen played, I wish they both would've removed their ties at the same time while singing, "I've fallen, from up high" and then both throw them to the side as one as they sing, "The world has said goodbye." Since Darren was supposed to throw his tie anyway, I agree with another commenter that doing it at that moment would've been the best time to do so. So eerie and awesome
