There are many travel destinations in the world that draw anglers from a far. Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and the Great Lakes are among those specifically for their large salmon and steelhead runs. I've traveled to many of these destinations and more in pursuit of these fish. However, it can be tough to find affordable and durable travel rods to target these fish especially considering the length of most salmon and steelhead rods is between 8' and 10'. Here some of the rods I recommend.

I was out on the ice yesterday trying to catch some perch and crappie... saw them come through the finder in large schools but wouldn't touch any of our baits. Im ready for some open lake fishing so I can drag some lures for trout and kokes!

What reel combo did you use for the 40lb braid?
Thick round cardboard tubing is great/underrated in bringing a rod as a carry on. Draws less eyes than a rod case with less questions. Can cut it to the perfect length and much stronger than the thin clear plastic tubes.
Have you tried the Okuma SST Travel rods? Has the original SST version but haven’t tried the new grey ones as the price has gone up.
I had one SST but it broke. Have not tried the new ones yet.
Have you tried the kokanee trolling rod from okuma? Bought one that is gray. So far very impressed for the cheap price.
I've not but I love my Paulina Peak rods they are great for snap weights, downrigger fishing, and flat lining. Hard to beat.
Thanks for the video. I always wondered about goture. Now I know from a trusted source. I was wondering if you’ve ever tried a telescopic rod for your travels? I recently purchased a cheaper one and missed salmon season but got some large steelhead on it. I was waiting for it to snap but never did… so far.
I used a super cheap Shakespeare telescoping and it held up against 20" trout until Sidra closed it in a car door.

Avoid Avianca to South or Central America....stole and "lost" checked rod backage at San Fancisco and would not communicate with insurance co. Horrible customer service.
I usually rely on Delta for South America and United Airlines for Central America.
